  1. if you were replying to my post, i do not have anything to offer you besides the fact that you misunderstood what i had to say. i did not say anything (in regards to danny) about what others had to say about him. i simply stated my two cents, so to say that i was 'upset' because i said some positive things about danny to the contrary of the common opinion around here is.... well... illogical. and who said he would become d wade??? i said i think he can succeed, no more, no less.
  2. hahaha, as i recall... you used to get ultra upset when i used to criticize soderberg, so i ask you... "If we haven't played D1 we can't post negative observations?".. but, that is besides the point. about danny.. i think he has alot of talent, but for one reason or another.. he was either under coached during soderbergs tenure, or he was not used in accordance to his talents. you have to understand that he is a natural wing, a slasher.. and unfortunately, in soderberg's offense.. there was none of that; in fact, there was no movement whatsoever. i also believe that danny easily has the quickest first step in comparison to anybody on our team. if he is healthy, i would love to see him come back and play his last season under a scholarship and he will most likely succeed under majerus' guidence. on a side note.. it is very hard for me to root against the guy. if anybody here has talked to him, or had a class with him, you would truly know what a good person he is. in addition, he is so smart... i had a calc. class with him a couple of years ago, and he is as sharp as a knife. with that in mind, i think he represents everything that we want at slu, and i think he can be an adequete bball player in this new system. most disagree, but i love the guy, and he has had a few flashes of decency over the past couple of years.
  3. we cant 'put all of our eggs in one basket' with suggs... so, we should proceed like he is not coming to slu, but leave a scholarship offer on the table for him.
  4. is there a time table for when suggs will make his decision?
  5. your exactly right... it is evident that soderberg made a good impression.. and i will give him that much, but as you said, i am still very skeptical whether these kids would have signed or not. regardless, this is an empty argument, and the bottomline is that we got the kids on board, and now we have a coach to actually utilize/optimize their specific talents.
  6. roy, what is your point??? obviously, soderberg did not do a good enough job; therefore, he was fired. the arguement against your statements simply declares that: yes, maybe these players said they were very interested in slu, and so on... but, that does not necessarily mean that soderberg would have closed the deal. maybe he would have, maybe he would have not. who freaking knows??? but, you can not agrue against soderberg's track record of dismal recruiting... so that leads most of us to believe that he would not have closed the deal. geez, sometimes i think you still have not come to the understanding that soderberg was fired for his performance... its not like he stepped down or something like that.
  7. this goes back to my offering a few months ago that soderberg has the mentality of a football coach... and that we needed a 'nice'/personable coach in order to recruit at slu.
  8. playing in the A10 will be great east coast exposure for these young ball players.. and i think that can prove to be an important factor.
  9. i hear what you are saying, but you have to be patient. i think a few years from now with the new arena being built and all, and hopefully some ncaa tourney appearances strung together... is when we can hope for some 5 star, mcdonald all americans to consider slu. it will always be a long shot when competing with the likes of unc, duke, ku, etc... but, slu has alot to offer that those schools dont.. for example, urban campus, big city, only bball team within the city... so, top level recruits who are clear nba prospects would be wise to consider slu, because in my eyes it would be a superb 'stepping stone' to the nba.
  10. this is nice to see... dicky v mentioning slu in quite a few 'roundball chatters'... here is the link. http://espn.go.com/dickvitale/070615roundballchatter.html
  11. Ben Hansborough = people betta be scuuured
  12. but, first he has to get a subscription to nate's webpage...
  13. as i recall, you were one of the biggest soderberg supporters.... and now you are complaining about the overall history of our programs??? if anything, you are a freaking hypocrite for saying that stuff while you were crying yourself to sleep over us canning that horrible coach baldy soderberg..
  14. errr... i have only lived in stl, muchless the midwest during my time at slu..... so, i think i have a pretty good perspective. you dont understand that slu as an university was in shambles when biondi took over, he had to fix ALOT of things before he could truly concentrate on athletics. lets not forget that slu is an educational institution first, before anything else. sorry i respect a job well done, and i look at the school; my beloved alma mater as a whole, not just the budgets of the athletic depts.. regardless, whatever, lets agree to disagree on this matter
  15. ok, lets go over your rational... slu sports has been a failure over the past 20 yrs?? maybe, but not entirely so... mens/womens soccer teams are always good, womens vball made the tourney last season, baseball made the tourney two years ago, and mens bball has been ok. now, biondi's bad infuence on... fundraising, are you kidding me? facilities, we are building a new arena (that takes time). i mean, geez... sometimes i get the impression that some people on this board type aimlessly..
  16. ok, lots of substance in that statement... can you tell me direct reasons why you do not like him/or not too fond of him?
  17. its evident that you watch alot of college basketball roy...
  18. errrr... ummm if the offense is stagnant and predictable (which it was).. the blame does NOT go on liddell, that is directly on soderberg. and you have to understand, in organized basketball the coach creates the game plans and calls most of the plays. so, tommie was doing what he was told. its not his fault that soderberg drew up plays for him to get the ball in his hands with 5-7 seconds left in the shot clock every possession. in fact, i think that is what lead to most of tommie's turnovers. someone hit the nail on the head earlier by saying: "tommie needs to work on his focus more than his handles"..
  19. "but there also are many balls he has dropped." like what??? making your degree actually worth something? some of you people honestly do not understand the business sense of things. we live in a country where everything... from church, school, medical care, etc... is a business no matter how you spin it. go ahead and bash me for bringing up particular projects that fr. biondi has accomplished during his tenure at slu (esp. parking lots), but i couldnt be happier with the guy and he has done nothing to upset me during my time at slu. ok, maybe the fr. berry and fr. (i forgot his name) thing was an overreaction,.. but, in a business, you do not openly speak out against your boss, bottomline. it stinks, but it is what it is. so, go ahead and hate on fr. b and what i have to say about his accomplishments, but to be honest... if he did not fire soderberg, this message board would be filled with threads begging for particular recruits to committ to slu. it is funny to me that so many of you proclaim massive love for slu, but then turn your back on the man that has made it all happen. whatever though, i like biondi, most of you do not. just as, most of you liked soderberg, and i most definitely did not.
  20. hahahaha, you forgot: the billiken has a big head.
  21. im not sure about that... i think kevin is a decent point, but he strikes me more of an undersized sg.
  22. sign suggs, mitchell, and perry.. would our recruiting class of '08 be touted as one of the nation's best with thompson and reed already on board?
  23. yeah, but if kevin handles the ball the whole game, that would totally take away from his open 3's created by tommie's penetration. in effect, that would hurt kevin's game, and our team.. with kevin being our best pure shooter.
  24. and they are both lefties... i love that about them, its tough to guard a left handed pin point shooter. especially when exhaustion kicks in.
