Bill. You're correct about the score.  My mistake.   As to Lipscomb, not saying they are bad, but they did end the season with an RPI of 70 and a record of 29-8.   But how does Davidson end last season with a record of 24-10, an RPI of 50, an embarrassing loss to SLU by 23, a loss to Lipscomb by 8, the return of their guys but little addition and end up at #23?

3 Star.   VCU was strong last year and will be again this year.  Fine, put us down for 2 losses to them this year -- home and away.   And fine, let's assume that Dayton will be strong with their 4 new transfers and not have any issue getting use to each other, but I just don't see much else in the A10.   Just not buying how strong the A10 will be.   Stronger than last year?   and the year prior?   Probably, but the A10 has been historically average here recently.

Pistol.  Excellent update on the A10.  Thank you.  Maybe we have too many questions to make a pre-season "strong" tier of the A10, but other than VCU, it sure seems like a lot is up for grabs this year   Not seeing the quality of the A10.

We only play VCU once this coming season, at home. Always like our chances at home.

Thanks to all that have posted that coach Ford has been taken care of.

If coach Ford gets this team dancing there will be more interest from other schools looking for a young energetic coach.

SLU should tell the world that they are serious about a successful basketball program by announcing a contract extension and other positive moves made to improve for success.

I am moving to the lower bowl of Chaifetz which is a lot more expensive but I am happy to contribute more.

I did this last year, had a seat next to the last row at the top then down much lower. Will try to get even lower this year if one opens up.

  3. We moved from Escanaba, MI in Novemeber of 1960. I was a Sophmore in high school. First day at my new school in Centralia, IL,I  went to  the gym an sat down to watch a basketball team during practice. There was also a junior college on the high school campus.I had just had a growth spurt and was now 6' tall, and wanted to play. As I watched player after player slam home dunk after dunk I turned to someone seated near by and asked if that was the college team. No the replay was that's the Centralia Orphan team. They lost two games that year. The last one in the super sectional game at Salem, IL against The undefeated Collinsville Kahoks.

I have been a basketball fan ever since.

I attended Centralia Junior College after high school. (Now Kaskaskia College)  The college team averaged 113 points per game (no 3 point line era), and had 2 of the top scores in the nation. Russel Coleman and Donald Duncan, both former Orphan players. The team finished 7TH in the nation.

When I moved to St Louis I adopted the Billikens as my team to follow as I was a basketball fan.

Rough ending to a roller coaster ride this year.  But I, for one, did enjoy the ride.  How far we come these past three (3) years!!

Last night is the reason you play D1 college basketball.  Yes, we lost.  Yes, our turnovers and poor shooting raised its head again.  But the atmosphere and notoriety of being in the NCAA Tourney -- no replacement.  I am thankful that Bess, Foreman, Isabel and Wiley each got this opportunity.  Same with Welmer to experience but more in a non-playing role.  Also, am thankful that Goodwin, French and Thatch (same with Hankton who got a few real minutes and Jacobs who did not) got a taste of the NCAA Tournament to help them each have Conklin Summers to lead our newbies next year.

By comparison, Vandy and Pitt also changed coaches 3 years ago.  The fans at Pitt are now on their second head coach since we landed Coach Ford and they got the chance to celebrate only 3 conference wins this year.  Then, again, Vandy has had their worst 2 years of college basketball and won no conference regular or tourney games going 0-19.  Kevin Stallings and Bryce Drew.  What does Garth Brooks say, thank you for unanswered prayers?

Thank you again.  Congratulation and looking forward to next year!

Accually he did get in the game when Forman fouled out.
