This is an example of someone (me) taking an innocuous web post (Jalens' departing tweet about his transfer being best for his family) and drawing the line that he wanted to get closer to home.  That's how I took "best for me and my family" when he said he was transferring.  I assumed "family" meant closer to home ala the speculation (by some) on Mickey' Pearson's decommitment.  So -- shame on me.

Still, a guy with that talent, a guy I see much better than just about every other A10 transfer, has still not landed.  That is a truth anyway.

This is all about his Dad, who believes he can get to the NBA.

We did play Houston, a ranked team, this year. I guess will have the return match this upcoming season. Would love to have Memphis, Cincy & WSU on the schedule. Old Valley foes.

To get a P5+1 school to come to the Chaifetz is going to get near impossible.

    Oregon State this season

It’s the lack of support which will eventually get him to have to go somewhere else. I know he loves it here but you can’t fault a guy who wants more.   I’m just worried the administration doesn’t see the problem.

They see it, they just don't have the money. It's not complicated, if you want to help, write a check. They'd like to build a stadium, just need a few million. Unfortunately, this isn't the only project on the drawing board. By the way, the new infield cost half a million. Only another half million plus and they can finish the outfield.

I'm also told, although I have no way to prove it, that our baseball facilities are among the best in the A-10. Have no idea if it is true.

Welmer is a business major. It appears he's staying this season, so my presumption is that he'll do a one-year full-time MBA at SLU.

He could have been a grad transfer this year, but he's probably better off staying this season, logging some actual minutes, and then becoming a grad transfer next season. He'll have an MBA and can pursue anything he wants academically without pressure. And he'll hit the grad transfer market with some actual recent footage for coaches to scout him with.

Since he has 3 years of eligibility left, would this approach cause him to lose a year? Or, can you play 2 years where he transfers to?

That is certainly a takeaway from the silence of SLU and Bishop.  In this age of social media many think everything should be "put out there," but everything thing is not for public consumption.  If my son were involved no one would hear a peep from us and I would request and expect the same from the university.  I respect Bishop for keeping his head down until he gets the next chapter of his life in order.

Agreed and the school has privacy issues. They won't say anything about Bishop. If he goes public, they may retweet it.

hargrove is a star.  shoots pretty good, big hops, willing to rebound and defend.   my only beef is that he is at east st louis and i think the politics and dumbed down academics hurts any player coming out of there.   if was to get out of there even for one year his prospects really soar imo.   the rumor is that mom is looking for a place to live in belleville so he can get out of the estl academics.

    Thanks,
