  1. word on the street is that there will be a midnight practice on late friday night/early saturday morning and another practice on saturday afternoon at about 1 p.m. I think it's just practice, no frills. reggie is back playing again, but drejaj is out for at least two weeks with a groin injury. I heard he got hurt during open play. bad boyz for life
  2. word on the street is that chris has committed to central michigan. bad boyz for life
  3. i look forward to the games with southern illinois. We have had some great games with the salukis over the years and i hope the two schools continue to play each other in the future. the salukis should be a preseason top 25 team. sometimes, they get the short end of the stick from their own conference people because they are too busy trying to push creighton and dana altman in the limelight as the showcase program of the mvc. i have a lot of friends and a few relatives who are saluki fans and that really sticks in their craw despite all of the success the program has had. good luck to you guys this year. any program with a bunch of guys from the STL is a good one in my book. see you on Dec. 21 bad boyz for life
  4. tabb and nelson make a strong carbondale team even stronger. it will be interesting to see what happens. they should be the favorites in the south seven. as for kevin, i would not worry to much about how he does against those two. i was at the game when he put 37 points on dentmon AND maurice gibbs in that sectional game at salem when he was a sophomore and they upset c-dale. I couldn't believe it. i know roy was at that game. btw, c-dale should have a clear path to peoria as the Class AA southern rep. civic memorial has a nice trio of players, but they don't have anyone who can contend with manual cass. cahokia, o'fallon. should be good, but i'm not sure good enough to beat the revamped terriers. any other thoughts. bad boyz for life
  5. if you get a chance to see slu play this year, they have a freshman on the team named mia johnson from minneapolis who was ranked in the top 50 in her senior class. she led her team to the state title as a junior, tore her acl, but came back in february and led her team (minneapolis north, I believe) to a second state title. she chose slu over her home school minnesota (which was in the final four last year) and rutgers. for those who like to surf, look up the name mia johnson and report back what you find. she is better than any guard around st. louis. bad boyz for life
  6. word on the street is that brian cusworth has decided to go back to harvard. bad boyz for life
  7. word on the street is that brian cusworth got his release from havard and was supposed to have met with brad over the weekend. we'll see what happens. bad boyz for life
  8. the name is danny brown. i believe he is from houston, texas. my bad. sorry if this is a repeat post. bad boyz for life
  9. word on the street was that a guard from colorado was on campus this week. i heard is name is danny moore and he attends air force prep academy. don't know much about him. maybe our more savvy web surfers can come up with some info on him. looks like he might get that scholarship vacated by alexander. have not heard anything new on the possible transfer of cusworth. seems kind of unlikely now that we are entering the second week of august and school is about to start soon. p.s. how about those Americans. they put one of serbia today didn't they? bad boyz for life
  10. word on the street is that brian cusworth is in the process of getting his release from havard in order to transfer to slu. i'm not sure what stage he is at right now in the process. hopefully, there is more later. stay tuned bad boyz for life
  11. i guess a year of playing with tom frericks has rubbed off. stop all that hacking IV. bad boyz for life
  12. speaking of which, i went to see catwoman last night. bad movie. but who the hell cares. halle in the cat suit is worth the price of three admissions. it was a puuuurrrrfect way to spend a friday evening. bad boyz for life
  13. an element that the spurs missed greatly last season was speedy claxton, who was parker's backup during their championship season. he was great in the playoffs with his quickness when parker went into his funks. the spurs did sign barry as a free agent, which gives them another shooter who can play point. marque has a chance to fill claxton's old role as a backup point. good luck to him. i saw he had 12 assists in a game last week. i think that is what they are looking for from him, rather than scoring. we all know he can score, but he has to show that he can run a club. bad boyz for life
  14. demetrious johnson is no factor. he'll spout off, but he's ill-informed and out of the loop on this one, like he normally is. anyway, he'll have enough on his plate in the coming weeks when mizzou football rolls around trying to explain away a murky situation that's been under the radar.
  15. for our rebel fans who visited our board in the past couple of days. i would like to welcome UNLV back to their rightful place as ratt-bastard cheaters. I knew you couldn't stay away for long. for the past three years, you had a former slu coach in Charlie Spoonhour, who gave your sorry-ass program some legitimacy and class after a long-storied tradition of cheating and underhandedness. Lon Kruger hasn't even conducted his first practice yet in vegas, yet members of his staff are cutting side-deals with slimy street agents and illegally contacting recruits by phone who are already bound by a letter of intent. welcome back, we knew you couldn't stay clean for ever. After sitting on the sidelines and watching the scandalous treachery being done at places such as georgia, missouri and baylor, we knew you wanted back in and had to get back in. well, you went for the gusto. trying to steal a recruit from another school and using a weasal street agent to do it. At least tark was original in his cheating. congrats vegas. welcome back to being the scum of the earth. we missed ya. bad boyz for life
  16. the streets are whispering, but i can't quite make out what they're saying, but when they start talking, i'll let you know. all i can say is, when one door closes, another one opens. bad boyz for life
  17. word on the street is that tommie's parents are pipe-smoking, egg-frying, st. Louis in mid-july, blazing hot over what went down between tommie and sir scumbag up in new jersey. the word is that they are firmly in slu's corner like jalensdad has stated. hopefully, i can come on later and say i was wrong. we shall see. the next few days should be interesting. bad boyz for life
  18. when one door closes, another one opens. bad boyz for life
  19. however this whole fiasco turns out, tommie's family has to step forward and take control of the situation. i know they have been a part of the process every other step of the way. they should never let some punk step in and make the one of the kid's most important decisions of his life for him because he can get something for himself out the deal. talk about overstepping your bounds. bad boyz for life
  20. i don't know willie. i think brad should leave tommie alone altogether. they put in the time and effort to sign tommie in the first place when nobody else would touch him. no need to go down that road again since his recruiting is open again. we all know he's going to unlv. even if he doesn't, his open recruiting means that he's open to the highest bidder because a street agent is controlling the situation and dictating tommie's every move. if unlv doesn't get the final nod, watch what other programs get involved knowing a lowlife, scumball with his hand out is running TL's recruitment. and remember, his nephew might be part of the package as well. (btw, has bennie lewis III committed to UNLV yet. they got six scholarships to give). and to go one step further, i don't know if slu should ever mess with recruiting in esl again, (with the exception of jalensdad's kid of course). what this situation shows that as long as ricky lewis is running around, esl kids are for sale. no need to wallow in that cesspool. this is a tough and nasty business and that means you have to act accordingly. if tommie realizes that he is making a horrific mistake in putting his trust in a subhuman creature such as ricky lewis (like tommie sr. already has), he'll call (and i still wouldn't take the call). if not, life goes on. And so does slu basketball. as Bono of U2 sang, "With or Without You." "With or Without You." bad boyz for life
  21. word on the street is that ricky lewis was actually on the bench as one of the "coaches" of tommie's team at the ABCD camp. he's another one for you. bennie lewis III is also playing in the camp. he is bennie lewis' grandson and ricky's nephew. he didn't even start for esl last year, but here he is at a high-exposure camp. there is also word that sonny vaccaro had a hand in setting up the "press conference" at abcd. he is running the camp. the street agent lewis looks like a buffoon with each statement he makes. first, he implicates UNLV for illegal tampering with a recruit who already has a letter to another school in the vegas paper, but recants when it is brought to his attention that he mistakenly ratted on the school that he may have taken the handout from. then he says tommie likes kruger's system and style of play and how it fits the nba style. kruger is a top-notch college coach with an impressive track record, but he'll never be confused with tark in term of style of play. has always been a walk-it-up the floor coach. he was at kansas state, florida and illinois. if you remember, he was always at adds with point guard frankie williams at illinois because frankie wanted to run and lon wanted to walk it up. he's a complete idiot, but he has tommie dancing to the same tune because he thinks he will be a No. 1 draft choice (thus, he can cash in as well). it happens all the time in college basketball. unfortunately, we were the ones who got burned by the "sleazeball street agent, naive teenage kid 'you can go to the league'" line. scenario. books have been written about this sad story. only this time, it has visited our house. i would like to be wrong about this, but tommie's not coming folks. it's getting more apparent with each detail. if the street agent has this kind of influence where he can cut off all communications with even his family back home, it's probably done. the sad part about all of this is that he still wants to come to slu and so does his family. unless someone in the liddell household takes control of the situation (if its not too late), we can all say bye-bye to #25. if i'm in error, jalensdad can correct me. i will still defer to him. slu is the best place for tommie to grow, not only as a basketball player, but as a student and as a young adult. everything was in place for him to be in a position to succeed. What's really sad about this is a scumbag from his own community has no regard for tommie's interest because he's looking to line his own pockets. i wish TL luck in whatever he does in the future whether he is in a slu uniform or someone else's. if he is to be led about the likes of ricky lewis, he will most certainly need it. bad boyz for life
  22. you're right roy. ricky lewis is bennie lewis' son. i'm not totally sure on this, but the word on the street is that lewis may be getting some funding for his esl team from larry butler, who runs the illinois warriors out of chicago. darius played for butler and the warriors when he was in high school. butler has been at odds with some of the local aau teams on the missouri side (eagles, mainly) over the kids from southern illinois playing with the missouri teams and not his teams (liddell, matt shaw, xavier price, j.b. jones, etc..), so he got this little "satellite" deal going in esl with ricky running the show. the other stuff i heard about ricky engineering tommie's bogus commitment for the publicity hit heading into vegas seems to fit from the people i've talked to. if i'm wrong about the aau/butler connection, jalensdad can set me straight. where detroit comes into play, i don't know. ricky lewis, a very, very, very bad boy for life
  23. snyder visited when lorenzo was here.
  24. jesse leonard and his wife are fixtures at bills game for a number of years. not only do they go to games, but they also go to special events like the hall of fame dinner, etc... jesse still bleeds billiken blue as does his wife, who was a slu cheerleader, if i'm not mistaken. word on the street is that jesse and jarod are both pretty fired up about the scholly offer from brad. not to put the cart before the horse, but it looks pretty good for jarod in 2006. this would be real big because he is just starting to get a national rep at the beginning of the recruiting process and the big-shots are taking notice. if we land this one under those circumstances, it will be a major step in the process. new arena, new AD, new conference polk, meyer, liddell, lisch, leonard who else from the area would you like to see in a slu uniform. bad boyz for life
  25. you're right, brehms. the only thing is that tommie plans to sign a letter of intent in november, before his season at hargrave. if the vultures are going to make their move, it will have to happen this summer or doing the fall. i'm sure our guys will be following tommie all over the country this summer like they are with kevin, jarod and the other kids they are recruiting. by contrast, the dentmon kid at carbondale signed with illinois state, didn't qualify, and is headed to prep school. instead of re-commiting to isu, he is opening up his recruiting again, which leads people to believe that he will either end up at illinois or southern illinois. dentmon said there is a possibility of going back to normal, but it's highly unlikely imo. tommie can do the same thing if he wanted to. if we wanted to open up his recruiting again, all he has to do is say so. but he decided to re-commit to slu again because of the relationship he has built with brad, coach thorpe (or A.T. as he referred to in the article) and dwayne. word on the street is that he and kevin have become buddies as well. slu was the only school that recruiting tommie actively all of last year and he and his family remember that. (if i'm wrong, jalensdad can correct me). get a blue and white slu uniform ready for #25 in 2005. i'll be the first to admit that i will be surprised if it turns out any other way, even in this murky world of recruiting. bad boyz for life
