  1. roy, are you sure this isn't an alternate ID you've created to take the heat off you?
  2. Thanks to all who have replied. I'm surprised they're doing less on the subject now than 20 years ago. If the players involved would have been brought up on these charges when I was at SLU, the only surprise would be that they were given an opportunity to re-apply.
  3. You were there shortly after I lived on campus. If you're interested, send me a PM and I tell you about a guy I knew and the circumstances of he got kicked out.
  4. No, not Mike Sorrentino. I'm talking about the "situation" with our players. Who on the board lived on campus at SLU? I lived on campus for 2 years. Very early on they took all of the students living on campus (male and female) and had everyone go into one of the bigger lecture halls east of Grand. They told everyone in the room that sexual activity in campus housing was against the rules and you could be thrown out if you were caught. Then they spelled it out clearly for the male students that "no means no" under any circumstances and at any time. They pretty much said that if you were accused of inappropriate conduct (as a male) you were guilty until proven innocent. Were people having sex in the dorms? Of course they did. However, I also knew of a few people who got kicked out of school altogether for doing a lot less than what Kwamain did. There was a clear message given that in a "he said, she said" scenario, the guy was most likely going to lose out. Fair? No. Clear message? Absolutely. I was in the dorms 20 years ago. I can only imagine that for legal reasons they do even more upfront now than they did back then. Can anyone who lives on campus now (or lived there more recently than I did many years ago) verify that this sort of seminar still takes place? Maybe it doesn't. Whether or not the players were treated fairly can be debated. However, if you were living on campus when I lived there you souldn't have been at all surprised by this outcome. Again, I knew people who were kicked out of school for much less than what was indicated in the police report.
  5. after reading the police report, do you still think KM will get a standing O?
  6. Cory's best game so far this year? This is the second game, roy. Maybe you should have typed "Cory's BETTER game so far this year"
  7. IMO it would be a great spotlight as an exhibition game.
  8. If Shimmy can't get along with the best women's player they've ever had that's a problem. If there were a better relationship, TL could have been in grad school or working on another degree. It was only 1 more year. I know she got married, but she also had the rest of her life to be married. In any case, Shimmy hasn't gotten it done and it's not like Lisch is the only player who has walked away from the program. She's simply the best player who has walked away.
  9. She didn't quit playing NCAA basketball in order to make millions. The point is that you can't compare Theresa Lisch and Larry Hughes very well, other than the fact that they both left with eligibility remaining. Ted Mimlitz is a better Theresa Lisch comparison.
  10. Hughes didn't run off to get married. He got paid millions to play professionally, and it wasn't entrely unexpected. He didn't just quit playing.
  11. I'm going to predict an ugly Billiken victory (do we have any other kind?). We are young and green, but we're supposed to be talented. Georgia will also be shorthanded and on the road. I hope we have a good crowd. The 6th man could be the difference in this one.
  12. For what it's worth, I've heard some rumors going around that WR may indeed try to come back. Based on what the Reeds and RM were saying a month ago, it seems like an unlikely turn of events. WR thinks he can be an NBA player. He has to ask himself what would be the best situation to make that happen.
  13. http://www.stltoday.com/sports/college/slu/article_7757b904-f0d3-11df-8655-0017a4a78c22.html I agree with KC that a quick return to the floor is the best thing for our team. Interesting that Rockhurst is on the schedule at the request of Biondi.
  14. What's your prediction for the Georgia game?
  15. How long do coaches who don't win and don't make the postseaston last? Isn't this Shimmy's 6th season? If RM hasn't made the big dance by the end of his 6th season he should probably be gone. I've made many posts on here saying that we should start to question what he's doing if we don't make it this year and look to replace him if we don't make it by year 5. The off-court situation changes things somewhat, but that doesn't give RM a free pass for life IMO. I can throw away this season, and delay my timeframe by a year. RM is building something here.
  16. I think you could replace "Shimmy" with "Jill' and this would be like what we were reading on here a few years ago. IMO, you can only be judged by wins, losses, and postseason appearances if you're a coach.
  17. Well stated. There were obviously some horrible calls down the stretch by the clowns we hired, but the fact that we were in that position at home against a team picked to be about 3rd in the OVC is pretty bad. This team is young and green, but it's also supposed to be our deepest in terms of talent in decades. The guys on the current roster are going to have to figure it out. Disappointing for sure, but I'm confident we'll see improved play the next time out. Lesson learned about what it will take to win, now let's move on!
  18. IMO I'd leave the decision up to KM. However, I also think that it's much better for the program to have KM in the fold THIS year. This is like the CE situation last season in many ways. I admit that I was probably leaning towards having CE sit out last season, but his presence was probably worth an extra couple of wins for us. No one is satisfied with the CBI, but we had a long postseason drought before last year and it was better for the program than nothing at all. IMO, momemtum is hard to get and even harder to keep. I'd like to see KM back this year and keep the program's momemtum moving forward. It's not like RM has another 10 years of coaching in him. Also, I think KM has the opportunity to play professionally, but I don't see him as an NBA player (I hope I'm wrong on that). I don't think missing 10 or so games will cost him anything professionally. Also, I'm getting a little tired of rebuilding. Let's win some games!
  19. Wow. Trash talking on the heels of a loss.
  20. I agree for the most part. Gould is kind of funny, but he does very little homework. I was at a Cardinal game one time when Gould was the sideline reporter. He had a stack of about 5 empty beer cups under the one he was currently drinking. I'll never forget him putting the cups to the side and doing the live report. That was classic.
  21. (Sorry if this has already been posted) 6 games to air on KPLR. I'm happy even though Rich Gould is doing play by play. http://www.stltoday.com/sports/college/slu/article_380d320e-ec57-11df-a777-00127992bc8b.html
  22. Could finish as high as 2nd or out of the postseason altogether. Big game tomorrow. http://www.stltoday.com/sports/soccer/article_e54e95a8-e95e-11df-9724-0017a4a78c22.html
  23. John Amos is a great actor. Good Times was never the same after he left.
  24. He's stealing if he gets paid anything more than zero. That said, I doubt he gets paid too much. Does anybody have an idea on this one?
  25. Unfortunately, guy is part of the game day experience. And a really bad part of the experience. I think many of us on here won't simply accept the idea that we have to be stuck with him. I think you can fight city hall on this one. I could name a dozen local broadcasters who would be a million time better than guy.
