If he wants out of Norman the logical landing spot is DePaul. He’s from Chicago, they have a new arena, are in the Big East, and are making a commitment to NIL.
Depaul went down a similar path when they snagged Oliver Purnell. Purnell was at ACC Clemson in which he had success. Like previous and following coaches at the Big East DePaul, he failed miserably.

He wanted Harrellson he just wanted him in the Spring because he was pulling the "Golden Fly" bit
Didn't Harrellson end up at Western Ill? Surely we could out recruited them.
In defense of Sodie, he might have had Willie (was Willie at that point at some basketball HS factory & had academic issues?) signed making Harrellson less of a priority. That was awhile ago, don't remember all the issues.
I am sure I could come up with others Sodie whiffed on. We always seemed to be undersized and lacking athleticism (granted Sodie did not have 1/2 the resources Ford has presently). Where, I always thought, Sodie was good with the X & Os which at least made us competitive.

Sodie could evaluate talent just couldn't get the players to come here. Yes I know he whiffed on Ahern but everybody is allowed a mistake.
Also Josh Harrellson.

So, if we ask for anything, will you try to do it? For example, compare this team to all of Soderberg’s teams? Or, how about Soderberg vs Ford statistically, based on teams and outcomes!?
Talking about Sodie, anyone notice he's been demoted at Virginia from Associate Coach to Director of Scouting? not one his strong points. New Assoc Coach is Ron Sanchez that Bennett got from Charlotte. Sanchez actually did a decent job of resurrecting Charlotte and left the cupboard full making them very competitive for this year. When Charlotte left the A10 they really went into the dumpster going through coaches and 200+ net rankings.

All in all…. Josh made the right decision by a loooooooooong shot
He was lucky Crazy Billy Gillispie was fired and Calipari was hired. He actually blossomed his senior with him. Also he got couple good years in the NBA.
He might done all right with Majerus.

Hiring NBA assistants sounds good in theory. They know how to get to where the players want to go. And they've had some success as coaches already. So let's look at the real life examples over the past decade: Rex Walters, Dan Majerle, Mike Dunlap, Jerry Stackhouse, Juwan Howard. Why isn't the theory holding up in reality?
Likewise successful college coaches have a poor history coaching in the NBA: Pitino, Kruger, Calpari, etc..

This is known as the JLove-breaks-Kenyon Martin’s-leg strategy.
We had a really tough group on that team: Tatem, Heinrich & Baniak. If a opposing player made a drive to the basket, they were mugged.

They are very unforgiving at UCLA. We don't hold a candle to Bruin fans.
Cronin won everywhere he's been. Murray State, Cincy & UCLA.
Take him in a heartbeat.

I thought we had this in place once but it got cancelled and not sure why
I thought it was with the Mountain West and our games with Boise was part of that.

My neighbor across the street here in Nashville is a Joey alum. He's an old guy, he attended St Joseph's when Jack Ramsey was the coach. He's a fan but not a big fan.
Last 2 years (since we both moved in about the same time) I invited him over to watch the game on my big screen and enjoy my special chili. This year I told him I have another commitment. Fortunately I do but any normal Bills year would have gotten out of the commitment.

He didn't say he was watching current MVC hoops. Memphis was in that conference from 67-73 and they were playing some high level ball, the 73 team with Kenon and Finch lost in the national title game. No way this SLU team could hang with them.
Funny, that year I was at both SLU-Memphis games.
Jan 13th '73 game at the Mid-South Coliseum, Bill "Bumper" Parodowski got us tickets. They were hottest tickets in Memphis. We lost 60-72. We were in it most of the game but the Bills keyed on Finch and left Laurie open and he killed us.
March 3rd '73 we blew them out 70-56 in the Old Kiel. Harry Rogers went ballistic on them.
the 72-3 Billikens was probably one of the most under-rated teams ever. A shame no NCAA or NIT.

I am not everyone and I agree that many of names that have been put forth are simply retreads
Would you have considered Shaka Smart a retread when Marquette picked him up?
Actually I thought UMASS getting Frank Martin was not bad. On the other hand Archie Miller does not seem to be working for URI. He may need another year. Will see.
Like anything its a crap-shoot. The key is not to give a practically no-fire contract like we seem to have now. That you can control.

You want your AD to hire the coach - so if you are going to replace both you have to do May now - I don't see that happening
Technically, we hired Majerus without an AD.

I don't think enough has been made about not having a game for two weeks. No, this is not an "excuse" it's a bad decision. In the first 15 minutes we looked like a team that hadn't played a game in 2 weeks, then we competed for the next 20 minutes, but it was two big of a hill to climb. A lot of teams played between Christmas and New Years. At least schedule a cupcake to knock off some of the rest. Loyola played on Dec. 30 and they looked like a MUCH sharper team to start the game.
Okay, I agree.
Who responsible putting together the OOC schedule? Usually the coach. Also, its not like the old days when had to compete with 'Disney on Ice', tractor pulls and the Blues to get a game date.

W Soccer is doing very well. Women's BB did better than ever. Yes it's not as competitive conference as previously but you gotta beat the teams in front of you.
I said WSOC can compete, I mentioned MSOC based on last year. Also, it has potential the other non-revenue teams don't have on advancing deep in the NCAAs. Also May did hire McGinty, who we suffered 7 seasons with. Women's BB, can we expect more seasons like it was last season or was it just an aberration? Will see. I like Tillet, hopefully she has more success. I was not big fan of Pizzotti and Shimey but they both had to deal with stronger conferences and the West Pine Gym. The West Pine Gym did not even have a ladies room. Women's Vball was better prior to May. Even with the West Pine Gym. Field Hockey, why do we even bother to compete in this sport? Give them a on-campus facility for heavens sake.
Baseball mixed results but better than before (perhaps due to competition level).
About every 4 or 5 years we win the A10 Tourney. We are not dominant even with a weak A10. BTW, Hendrickson was here prior to May.
We did have a runner at the NCAA Track and Field National Championship last year.
Okay
So it's just alright.
Even for A10 standards, I think it's below mediocre. VCU and Dayton pick up far more championships in non-revenue sports.

Agree non-revenue sports are doing alright. However, I think the gross negligence of Ford's contract is enough in itself to warrant a change of AD.
Really think so?
Other than MSOC & WSOC none the other non revenue teams (men's and women) can compete on a national level. We are in the A10, a big difference than the old CUSA and Great Midwest. The only thing that counts is win that season ending tourney. Even if we do win a A10 non-revenue season ending tourney (which does not happen often, UD and VCU seem to do well in that regard), we are a high seed and out in the first round.
BTW: it was discussed here the possibility of moving to the AAC. It would be a disaster for the non-revenue teams.

I kinda remember a "Gary" would call almost every show but I have forgotten the details. What was the story...strange questions?
This is going back but Gary would call in at every show. Both of them would go at it on strategy.
Recall one conversation, Majerus offered courtside tickets to an upcoming game to Gary and Gary refused. It was funny how Majerus responded.
Recalled another show when Majerus and Rammer went at. That was kind of ugly.

There's no more weekly coach's show right?
I know Majerus didn't want to do it but he's like a Hall of Fame coach and could big time in a way that Ford can't. How are we paying $2.5mil/yr and that doesn't include a weekly coach show? Almost every coach in the country has one.
This guy avoids so much scrutiny.
Just #Blessed I guess
Majerus did it. How can we forget Gary.
The problem with CTF doing it, who would bother tuning in.

It all came together Feb/Mar.
From Feb 1 through the A10 Tourney they were 10-1.
That's peaking at the right time, not luck.
The few games I watched on Espn+ back in Nov/Dec to the season ending games, it was a totally different team.

I haven't written the BoT yet but that's upcoming.
Just let it go. Some people are fans in a different way they are just all in on whoever is in power in the regime and if it changes then they'll be all in on the new regime.
I have been around for a long time , recall when we dumped Grawer for Spoon & Sodie for Majerus we had a large cadre of fans that balked. It's the way it is. BTW, each case the program improved significantly.

La Tech is the first team in 14 years to have no turnovers in a game.
Is that stat just against us or all D1 games?
I have never seen one. Kind of amazing pulling that off and still losing.
Fortunately, we shot lights out.

Is McCollum another Kim Anderson? Similar credentials.

Yep, Odom left for VCU late and he had to rebuild the roster. And Craig Smith was the coach before him there, he went to Utah. Quite a contrast in coaches the last 5 years between schools.
Yea, when Sprinkle was out getting viable transfers, Ford was sitting by the phone 24/7 waiting for Malcolm Danridge to call.
