OT: David Lee is having a standout season

As bad as the Knicks are, they have a nice young nucleus with Eddy Curry, Jared Jefferies, Channing Frye, David Lee and Nate Robinson.

If all the older headcases on that roster ever agreed to play together and play hard every night, the Knicks could be very successful and very deep. There is a lot of talent there, just not enough balls to go around — and no one smart enough in the front office or on the bench to make the most of it.

I always liked David Lee's pro potential because he was an unselfish guy who could go out and score, rebound and pass. He's kind of one of those glue guys a team needs to have out there to do the dirty work and defer to the players who need the ball in their hands to be effective.

No offense but the Knicks have very little talent. Put Lee on a decent team and he is riding pine. Frye has been out since late Nov, Cato is out now. Curry is a perennial underachiever. Lee has very little competition for his position and Thomas is still starting Jeffries, a soft 6'11 wanna be shooting guard, over him. Nate Robinson can be nothing but a decent role player, right now he is a shoot first pg at 5'7, that won't work on any team but the Knicks. Lee for being a top 5 recruit out of HS, hasn't shown much at either the college or pro level besides being a role player or bottom of the rotation guy.

Jared Jeffries has missed most of this season. And the knicks have a lot of talent, so much that they moved Jalen Rose. They still have in addition to the players named above in this thread, Marbury, Francis, Crawford, and Quentin Richards, along with rookies Renaldo Balkman and Mardy Collins. Curry isnt underachieving this year. He's the leading scorer on the team. His FG% is great. David Lee would put these numbers up on a good team, just like his former college teammate Udonis Haslem does in Miami. He's more than a role players. He's versatile, can shoot with either hand, has good fange. He can do a lot of things. His production transfers to any team because he hustles and plays hard every second. He's started about a third of the games and look at his numbers. Frye might not get his starting spot back.

David Lee had 20 rebounds last night to go with 17pts. The night before that in the game involving the brawl he had 12pts and 15 rebounds. He's averaging 11pts and 9.7 rpg now, that's almost a double-double and he's only started 9 of the team's 27 games. He's shooting 65% from the field. He's having an incredible year and he would get time on any team. If you dont thinik so you're crazy. He's started at sf last night and started some games there last year too. This guys is a heck of a player with his range, his toughness, his savvy, his strength and determination. He's second in league in fg percentage. Incredibly efficient player.
