Seems like a lot of people thought he'd be transferring to an ACC school, but he decided to go back to Cincy.

Xavier, a school incredibly similar to SLU, has been recruiting very good talent for a long time. I know it's been discussed in the Scott Suggs post below, but there's no reason SLU can't do the same.

I think we are capable of doing the same as well. The key is to do it for more than a two or three-year stretch. We haven't been able to do that yet. We always seem to be riding the basketball rollercoaster.

SLU has shown the ability to win big and go to postseason tournaments, but we haven't been able to recruit consistently to keep it going to any long period of time.

grawer had those stronger years during the douglass-gray-bonner era, but it fell way off after they left and he was let go. the upchurch deal hurt rich the most.

spoon had the clagget-highmark-waldman years, but the two seasons in between 94, 95 and The Legends year in 98, were mediocre and horrible.

we had the miracle in memphis and ncaa in 2000, but we just couldn't follow up in LoRo's last two seasons.

brad went to the nit his first two years, but recruited poorly and that led to a disatrous third year (along with injuries).

Now, we're headed by up hill again (16-13) with most everyone coming back. But the key will be the 07-08 season. Will we be able to continue the winning that we'll do next year, or will we fall back again because vouyoukas graduated. that's when you have to show that you are going to be a winning program for the long haul. two more successful recruiting years will accomplish that.

it's a matter of putting a number of solid recruiting classes together. you recruit the local blue-chippers hard, but if they choose to go to BCS University, you don't thumb your nose up and the second-line area players. Those are the ones that keep you solvent.

We've discussed this before in other posts. if brad is going to be the man who leads slu into that new building, he's gonna have to adjust the way he thinks about a few things and display some better people skills.

by having kids like Ian declare for the draft, get attention. If we come out winning next season, it will go a long way to show kids like Griffey, Brandenberg, Suggs and whoever that you do not have to leave town to get National attention and NBA attention. Unfortunately we may have to go through a few more may-june nail biting periods wondering if TL or KL will stay or go........
