Query for Steve or anyone else

Recommended Posts

Is there an image of the old billiken mascot on this site or anywhere else? I can only find a very small one, like not even a square inch. Does anyone know where there may be a larger image?

I did a Google image search. It returned 2520 results, most of them not pertaining to a billiken (whether SLU or the original). If you would like to surf through the results, knock yourself out (http://images.google.com/images?q=billiken&ie=ISO-8859-1&hl=en&btnG=Google+Search ).

I'm sure you don't though, so here are some links you might find useful.

I think that last link might have what you're looking for, though I must say I'm not sure what exactly you're looking for. What is the "old" Billiken logo? The University apparently frowns on the use of anything other than the logos they supply on the pages linked above. I might be able to help you more if you give me a URL to the old logo you've found or e-mail it to me. Send me a private message if you want to e-mail it to me.

I'm sure gruehls has personal knowledge of this professor and that's where he gets his "billi-cannots" jab.

Thanks, jjray. Now I'm wondering if the "billiken" came from the "billy can" figurine!

Also, someone should make the folks at SLU aware that someone may have completed better research on "what is a billiken" than themselves.
