Has SLU had a good big man since Bonner?

Melvin had a couple of flashes and then quit. Heinrich was solid but not spectacular, Baniak was a good freshman and then fizzled. Kenny Brown was solid.

Everyone knows SLU could have been a good tourney team if Spoon would have ever left Tom's Bar and gotten a big man. His laziness cost them a lot of wins.

Am I missing somebody? I think Frericks has heart but can't make the shots. I'm not sure Ian will ever be much better than what he is.

SLU needs somebody in the middle who can occasionally take control and win them a game.

no argument on the quality of our CURRENT big men. while i agree that ian and bryce have long term upside. it is pretty obvious they arent going to help much his year. tom again was missing easy put backs and layups (tom and ian were a combined 2-11 today and most of those shots were very close). izik seems to be producing and that should have been enough to make us winners imo. but i never banked on our centers not coming through, especially frericks.

at least it seemed we had the old reggie back today. he was looking to score today more than in previous games. actually he should have shot more imo.

I agree with Roy that Izik is giving us an inside scoring presence. He backed down Sensley late in the game today and scored with a baby hook over him (Sensley is 6'9", solid). Granted, Izik is not Bonner but he is a very servicable big man. We'll miss him next year.

i am praying we use the last two scholarships to find the next bonner. to think that bryce and ian will anchor our inside next year is scary as hell. both last week vs oral roberts and this week vs hawaii, the other team has had much better inside talent and size than us. oral roberts and hawaii should not have better talent than us.
