jjray
Ian couldn't get anything done inside against Andre Brown so, per coach's post game comments on KMOX, he decided to "roll the dice" and go with Ross in the 2nd half giving him a green light to shoot. He hit his first two shots and that seemed to loosen up things for the rest of the offense. Ross played the entire 2nd half, the Bills absolutely stopped trying to score inside with their big guys and went to jump shooting ... with tremendous results. Reggie finding his shot again in the 2nd half was also huge but you could feel it coming in the 1st half. Chris Sloan got into foul trouble (3rd foul at the 10 minute mark of the 2nd half) and JJ came in to 5-6 solid minutes at PF while Chris sat. Drejaj was in control and had his shot going. Drejaj's first basket of the game was 4 point play: got fouled shooting a 3 and the ball banked in off the glass. Anthony obviously took that as a sign from above that this was his day and his stroke looked good the rest of the way. Another big difference today: we shot our free-throws down the stretch. I think we went 6-7 from the line down the stretch. Also, only 7 turnovers the entire game (although one came in crunch time against the press). Great win guys. It was overcoming adversity with your starting center hurt.
thetorch
What a game by Ross. 10 points in the second half. He catches alot of heat from me in particuliar but I have to hand it to him. He was definetely the MVP of this game. Hit his jumpers and blocked out DePaul's big men better than anyone else has on the Billikens team. Made some timely passes as well, he was intregal in SLU ability to move the ball so efficiently in the second half. Hats off to Ross. He deserves all the accolades today. billiken_roy
we have all taken turns arguing both sides of play jj or varner more or less, and imo their contributions had as much to do with us winning today as anyone. it is great to see them both step up like they did. jjray
Quite right Roy. With Tom hurt, Ian ineffective, and Chris in foul trouble, we needed both Ross and JJ to play substantial minutes.
