bg
Agree for the most part. Getting a top-100 4-star from California shows a little national recruiting ability. Next year's class will be very important for him. There's a lot of talent in Illinois, and he needs to grab his share. He already has a verbal from a national top-5 recruit from the class of 2010. Westy03
I agree. If everything falls right, Weber will have a superb '08 class.
billiken_roy
i think weber expected his guards to be a lot better last year than they were but he didnt expect the offcourt problems of mcbride and smith spilling over to the floor. also, randle was hurt a lot. and likely randle was penciled in to be his "carry us" guy. last, he was expecting gordon to be there this year before being robbed blind by scum sampson. that all said, most of the big ten schools, have the advantage of just being a big ten school. there is a degree of "order taking" that a big ten school has compared to the mid majors of the a-10 and the mvc for example. couple that with the proximity of illinois to the city of chicago and peoria, weber really should dominate midwest recruiting imo. coaching is more than x's and o's and player development. that coach has to be a fund raiser and a recruiter as well. weber is an outstanding floor coach and a teacher, but i tend to agree that his recruiting and fund raising ability isnt on the same level.
