Give it time. Players of his caliber don’t grow on trees, and I’m skeptical he’ll remain here due to Ford’s lack of player development.

Relax... He's not that special.
A seven footer on a middling mid major program isn’t special ?
I know you’re one of the more prominent Ford slurpers, but this is beyond ridiculous.

SLU continues to be a Mickey Mouse organization. Be honest and upfront about players’ statuses.
We’re past 1999 and everyone has the internet, even if the SLU AD believes otherwise. Players being ineligible and under investigation, whether by merit or not, by the NCAA is the norm.
Just be transparent, even by obfuscating the whole story, and maybe give some information to your ever depleting / dying / shrinking fan base.
It's so frustrating. I've been waiting for 4 decades for them to get their act together. I guess the joke is on me...on all of us.

Attempted to watch this game but only made it through one quarter. Wow, that was some bad basketball. A winning season is very much in doubt and even 10 wins might be a struggle.

This is great. Chaifetz not posting about the basketball program is a concern. Chaifetz then tweets about the basketball team after the first game.
Hours after the fact, but sure..

and there's this

Not as long as bozo May is the AD. This is the guy who bungled SLU's chances to go the BE and hired Crews.

Mo St has huge benefactors, surrounded by high level JUCO programs, and a huge alumni base in KC and St. Louis. They should picking the leftovers all over the state along with grabbing JUCOs. Poor hire after poor hire has doomed them.
Not just in basketball, but in football (FCS). The fact that the Dakotas are collecting championships and not Mo St is embarrassing.
Now re: Knight, he was a stern teacher in a time when his methods were accepted. One of if not the most misunderstood figure in the history of North American sports.

True. Hope the men somehow play in the NCAAT.

I strongly suspect that the financial issues with Bally, which are still ongoing, meant that anyone with experience wanted more money than they wanted to spend.
Which is why Panger left.

Apathy is the most dangerous spot for a program. Sounds like the Billiken men’s basketball team is there.
Especially when there’s a new pro team a couple blocks east from you and not only do you have to compete with the state schools, but also the newest D1 school in the metro area with football and hockey. They’re in trouble, but don’t seem to care…and you know what, why should we ?

I wouldn’t let SLU off the hook here
They continue to show that they aren’t a serious D1 institution.

College basketball and football are microcosms of the ever widening gap between the rich and the f’d in America.

He's the third BIlliken of the last 30 years to play for a team with a title caliber team.

People on here laugh at Lindenwood and their constant commercials have become torture, but you see the plan. They are making sure everyone knows they have a D1 football program. They are using that raise the profile of the university and attract students. They are more than happy to burn money on the football program right now to accomplish those goals.
And D1 hockey. A hockey program that took a top 25 Ohio State team to OT and came away with a tie this previous weekend.

We'll be playing this game of blame of the Athletic Director/President until we go to the grave. Because at the end of the day old money runs St. Louis. And I don't see that changing anytime soon the whales don't want it to change.
They like things the way they are. They like having a spokesperson who takes all the slings and arrows intended for them. When May's time is over they'll just replace him with another one.
Well, it doesn’t run St. Charles County, and as I’ve said multiple times, they’re making their presence known on pretty much ever sports radio station in the area while SLU is twiddling their thumbs. They’re comin’.

It's been my experience in St. Louis that old money runs this town, not just the SLU athletic department. There aren't enough rich people under the age of 60 to change how business is done. And very few of them are sports fans.
I hear the same stagnation arguments about wealthy decision makers in the St Louis metro area in general as I read every week on this message board. I don't think that's a coincidence. There's a lot of overlap between the two groups.
What I hear some MBMs saying without saying it is this: I wish there were wealthy Gen Xers with new ideas in leadership positions. Some of you guys went to elite private schools. Where are these people?
In Chicago or on the coasts.

By the time the status quo changes, Lindenwood or maybe SIUE would've passed SLU by. Those guys in St. Chuck County aren't fooling around. They already planting their flag in the local sports landscape.

Yes we do. We just choose not to use it because Ford is beloved.
