  1. Watson would love that plan.
  2. I believe the new rule basically gives a player 6 years to play up to 5 years. I'm assuming that Okoro might have 'three court years' still left. But I could be wrong.
  3. Interesting. This might cut a few transfers out earlier in careers.
  4. Here is a short NCAA release. It doesn't say anymore than we already know. From other sources, it appears that returning seniors simply won't count on the roster limit of 13. That will give some schools, who knows, 15+ on the bench, and others 13. And here is a question. Okoro is taking a medical redshirt this upcoming season. Will he get three years on court as a Billiken? DI Council extends eligibility for winter sport student-athletes Members also provide additional flexibility in championships selection, membership requirements October 14, 2020 3:15pm Winter sport student-athletes who compete during 2020-21 in Division I will receive both an additional season of competition and an additional year in which to complete it, the Division I Council decided. The same flexibility was provided to student-athletes after the spring season was canceled in 2020 and the fall season was seriously impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Council met by videoconference Tuesday and Wednesday. “The pandemic will continue to impact winter sport seasons in ways we can’t predict. Council members opted to provide for winter sport student-athletes the same flexibility given spring and fall sports previously,” said Council chair M. Grace Calhoun, athletics director at Pennsylvania. “The actions today ensure the continuation of local decision-making in the best interest of each institution and its student-athletes.”
  5. Not a transfer situation, but not great news for the Flyers. He was a solid backup guard last season. DAYTON – The University of Dayton has announced that junior guard Dwayne Cohill has suffered an ACL tear to his left knee, and will miss the 2020-21 men's basketball season. The injury occurred during a non-contact drill as part of a basketball workout on Saturday, Oct. 10. Subsequent examinations and imaging revealed the extent of the injury today. "We are collectively saddened for Dwayne and disappointed that he will be unable to compete with his brothers this season," Flyer head coach Anthony Grant said. "We are confident that our medical staff will provide him with the best of care throughout the surgery and as he works toward a return to competitive action. Although he will be inactive on the court, his leadership and experience will continue to be a positive impact for our group this season and throughout his recovery." Cohill, a graduate of Holy Name High School in Cleveland, played in 30 games last season. He averaged 13.3 minutes and 2.6 points a contest.
  6. One more item, the Lincoln bubble looks like it could be three games. Orlando looked like only two games would happen. Coach wants 9 OOC games, and you have seen how hard it is to get those lined up.
  7. Be wary of Western KY. They will be very good, with Bassey back from injury, and their other top two scorers back. They add Frampton, whom we well know from Davidson. Nebraska will have trouble in a loaded Big Ten, but they are adding several transfers who will make them dangerous. Hopefully they will take time to gell. They obviously will have a floor court (not gonna call it home court) advantage.
  8. Memphis picked up another Verbal, Sam Ayomide Onu, a 7-foot, 260-pound big man from the Phelps School (PA). I think that puts Penny up to 17 on his 2021-22 roster, but you know, with the new rules coming, free transfer and free year, he may be ahead of the curve.
  9. Let's hope Okey State and LSU are the two. Both have preseason All American candidates, Cunningham for OSU and Watford for LSU.
  10. https://watchstadium.com/college-basketballs-2020-21-events-schedule-10-07-2020/ Goodman has updated his MTE sheet. Note the difference in OrlandoHoops from his first list to now. Wow. ESPN started with 45 teams, and only 30 remain in all of the Orlando events. The NE MTE, which Ford mentioned as a possibility, now lists 10 teams NEBRASKA’S MULTI-TEAM EVENT Nov. 25-Dec. 2 Teams: Nebraska, LSU, Oklahoma State, UNI, Cleveland State, Illinois State, Western Kentucky, Nevada, USF, Colorado State
  11. With one free transfer likely to be approved in January, the 21-22 season will be very fuzzy. Why sign any incoming freshmen to scholarships? If all three of our seniors decided to stick around, would there be any open schollies? Or if they leave, let's see who else is out there in the portal.
  12. Goodbye Orlando, hello Lincoln? My thoughts: we won't be leaving the Orlando MTE without a backup already in hand. It looked like the Orlando MTE was going to be two games. Perhaps the new MTE will be three games, (with option of a standalone game added?)
  13. Guessing that Goodman still has us in the OrlandoHoops project, as we aren't out of it yet. We would be one of his 13. Edit: Looking at his Top 50 regarding the Nebraska MTE, OSU is 28, LSU 32, UNI 48. He has SLU at 37.
  14. Coach Ford was on the 550 Big Sports Show tonight. SCHEDULE NEWS: First game will be Nov 25 or 26. Orlando is still a possibility, but the MTE in Nebraska is also a possibility. We have 6 or 7 of the hopeful 9 OOC games done. [Per Rothstein, this event will feature Nebraska, LSU, Northern Iowa, Nevada, Illinois State and Cleveland State, with more to be added.][ @slu72, my tea leaf reading may be wrong!] Practice-> they have chairs around they gym. Players can't use the locker room. They dress on the chairs. They also practice in masks. Coach hopes that increased testing will lead to getting rid of the masks. Thatch and Jimerson are practicing 100%. Jimerson is a key in the main area the team needs to improve, consistent scoring. We have to obviously improve FT%. TJ Hargrove is in a much better place than last year at this time. Last year TJ's head was spinning as he was trying to figure D1 out. What he learned last year is showing. Everyone will get to play. We will play an aggressive style of defense. We will need fresh legs. Goodwin, French and Perkins will get a lot of heavy minutes. All three seniors will graduate on time in May. He says all three seniors are still improving, doing things better than they were doing last year. Goodwin hits the gym 6 AM every day. Perkins didn't have a clue what D1 ball was in last August when he showed up. He is still figuring things out, and still improving. French is working hard on FT's every day. Coach talked about his Team Blue skit. He was asked to do it and he came up with the action. He called the drink, "Team Blue Juice". Says most of his players still don't know who Fleetwood Mac is. Blue Ribbon came out today and picked Richmond over SLU. Richmond has top 7 or 8 top players back plus a redshirt. Coach says both teams will be good. He doesn't see this as a bad thing that Richmond being picked over the Bills. General consensus is that the A10 will be as deep as ever.
  15. Seattle dropped out of the OrlandoHoops grouping today. They intend to hook onto another outside Orlando MTE. Teams are still opting out of Orlando. Wonder if some of the rules are forcing these departures. Will SLU stay or go? Wake Forest dumped out of the Jamaica Classic, leaving UMass and Missouri State as the two leftovers. Wake is trying to host a MTE in Winston Salem.
  16. We can both guess, but my guess, right now, is yes. That's based on reading the tea leaves. Michigan State, Belmont and SLU are the only remaining - now homeless- of the original 8. You know Izzo wants decent profile, yet winnable games and he is in the ear of ESPN. MSU is playing Duke on Dec 1 in Orlando in a stand alone. MSU, I assume, is therefore staying in the Orlando Hoops festival. Now will they feed another team into these three or use these three as fill in's. Per Rothstein, all events will be four teams, likely two games.
  17. No final information on that possible game. As Stu said Friday, there are a lot of scenarios still possible. We are playing Boston College as scheduled.
  18. Where is our normal Press Box reporter? I picked up the Earl Austin segment today. An interesting section on the Bills, with Frank saying he could see the Bills, now that they didn't get Nesbitt, to hold off on HS players and pivot to JC/Transfers. [This was just discussion and not putting out a rumor.] Earl said yes he could see that. He feels the biggest loss will be Perkins, needing someone who can put the ball in the basket. He says Thatch, is a Jordan Goodwin type player, an athletic defender, character guy. (He said he isn't Goodwin but will fill that role.) Okoro, Bell and Linssen will fill in for French. Rumor was that Yaya Keita has been hurt. No details, but yes, he has gone down. "It breaks my heart">Earl.
  19. Ah, so we now know that we don’t know.
  20. Here is a guess, but a somewhat educated guess. (Maybe 66% correct?) Belmont, MSU, Cincy, Furman, Loyola, Mizzou, Utah State, Hawaii, North Texas, St. Mary's, San Diego state, Seattle, UCF. I'm sure I have missed some, and maybe some of these are already slotted. There could also be some threesome's needing a fourth team. If anyone has updates or corrections, please supply. I wonder how much input any coaching staff has on this reshuffle? Is it all ESPN, or are the schools being consulted?
