  1. Oh that wouldn't be a bad place for a stadium.
  2. Yeah. I think they realized that it would cost $50million just to buy up surrounding land. Also, no way the alderman gets on board with that. He'd be jobless.
  3. Yeah I was simply saying that Biondi, the depaul president, the Pope, or even Rahm couldn't grab up enough land even 30 years ago to build an on campus arena. It was an over generalization to say that there is an inferiority complex for STL with Chicago. Just based on my 7 years there, that's the feeling I got. Doesn't mean everybody from STL does. I know what you were meaning with the Biondi comment, but within the context of this thread it seemed to Imply that Biondi is a wizard and if depaul just did what Biondi did, they wouldnt have this issue. I then used my experiences living in the Depaul area over the last year to try and "drop some knowledge" about the city, only because most of my friends from STL that hate Chicago(as I used to) have never actually spent more than a drunken weekend there catching a game and the sights. I was pointing out that things move about 20x quicker and more hectic up here, and what works in STL doesn't necessarily work in Chicago. It's big. It's truly urban.
  4. I've never seen LSD that empty. Ahh...simpler times
  5. Yowza. she's the hottest woman to ever go to Valpo i'm sure
  6. That's a little misguided. Chicago is an actual major city, and specifically the Depaul area has been very nice for a long time. You can't buy up space in Lincoln Park like you can in a ###### Midtown area of STL. I love St. Louis and I understand the inferiority complex it has with Chicago, but you gotta open your eyes. I would've said the same thing as you a year ago before I moved here, so that's not a personal attack. Also: Biondi stepped down..come to grips, dude. He made great improvements to SLU and STL, but that's a specific example in a specific city where his vision worked.
  7. "They're landlocked way more so than SLU ever was and - more importantly - the surrounding neighborhood is too nice to force people out for gentrification or the University's purposes." Yes. Nobody in Chicago gives a about Depaul. I'm not even sure Depaul students give a about Depaul, they just like living in Lincoln Park and getting a decent(yet overpriced-just like SLU) education
  8. Well, an on campus place is not happening. Depaul is located smack dab in the middle of Lincoln Park, a yuppie neighborhood in Chicago. My 1BR apt is 1500, and small studios go for around 1k. There is literally no space to build. Chicago's North side is not like STL. It is a major city with houses upon houses upon buildings. It takes about 20min to drive to the United Center from Depaul(30 with heavier traffic-I do it twice every day). The united Center is not close to Mccormick place. UC is on west side at basically Ashland/Madison; Mccormick is down by soldier field. It might look relatively close on a map...it is not. Rosemont is a joke. It is not closer. If you say use the blue line, well Depaul is a 15 min walk from the blue line and then you have to wait and then get up there. I wouldn't go to games if that was the situation. Driving up would be a nightmare, too...Nobody want's to take the Kennedy at that hour if they want to get where they are going with any piece of soul left.
  9. No way it's 20 mins unless it's a wednesday at 1030am and you are driving 85. I live right next to depaul and anytime a game would be, you are looking at an hour from campus.
  10. Delle Donne was the best player in that draft. Plus she's smoking hot. If we got married and had babies, they'd be giants! Free College!
  11. I submit...the honorable...Matt Cassell
  12. You should send that to Jezebel.com and see what the reaction would be...
  13. Did they mention that in the Bloomberg piece?
  14. It's like the tuition/loan difference for somebody who graduated early 2000s vs early 2010s.....
  15. well, they don't have video equipment in Asia for him to record a brief message...
  16. ahh...I still remember the opening where they opened up Lorenzini's to everybody and we got to meet Majerus. I think i stole a good 5 or 6 of those SLU curved beer glasses. and I worked the Manilow concert and Fleetwood mac, etc...nothing like having middle aged, super high women try to give you kisses and hugs. Good times.
  17. Sadly, I don't think so. DE is too small. JJ can't handle the ball well enough. McCall is too spotty for the NBA. Loe-no, CE-no. I think Lisch is pretty happy down under with his new wife, and I don't see him in the nba either(maybe if he was 3 inches taller) Kwamain wouldve had a better chance had Willie Stayed. Their chemistry was crazy, and if they were able to continue together, wouldve been un-freaking-stoppable. Put WR on the team this year, we wouldve been top 6-7. Wouldve gotten more spotlight on KM, too. Anytime you thought KM was going to break out, he'd get hurt or the alleged incident. But honestly i think KM will be a good Euro player.
  18. Did anybody else get their copy of Universitas this week? I found it to be Propaganda-like in justifying how amazeballs Biondi has been. Also, on the back cover, is an invitation to a "Gala to celebrate 25 years of Biondi's leadership". Hilarious.
  19. Why hasn't the new Pope removed Biondi yet and "redistributed" him to Asia or the Middle East. At least take away his personal servant, stocked liquor bar, Lexus, and his fleet of golf carts. I could def. see the new Pope confiscating the sword of loyola, too...just to make a point
  20. The biondi/sword story is true. I know the two guys, and I was with them up until about 5mins before they got in trouble. Biondi went all "are you not grateful for what I have given you" on them. Giving them because they got financial aid and would dare do anything drunk and stupid. He pulled out the "Sword of Loyola" and held it while he threatened to expel them. They were both seniors like 3 weeks away from graduating, and they held their degrees until like late summer until they paid a huge fine. I mean...who does this? This is out of like Game of Thrones.
  21. I have no doubt she's a sweet "old lady"...but this is why Facebook is dangerous for crowds over 40. God knows what my grandma would say if given the platform...
