Gotta love this. You’d think upcoming recruits would want that

That’s awesome. Looks like they shot this from the rooftop (Clubhouse) of the Arcade Building.

After closer inspection those views appear to be from further west and from closer to Market. Wonder if that’s SLU law school?

If those four are in a four team event (specifically Gonzaga and Auburn), then our Orlando bracket is busted. What might have been.......

Looks like it. This sucks. MTE at Chaifetz? Time to hit the panic button!

I’m a city fan, got tickets for that In the away section at Chelsea which, not easy so it was amazing.

chelsea is a good choice and honestly I think they finish 2nd next year with the latest signing. If not right there at 3rd

Wow yeah those tickets aren’t easy to get. I hope your wife was both impressed and turned on 😃

Liverpool and Man City would’ve been too easy to pick, I've never liked ManU, and I hate Arsenal for obvious reasons  Leicester City received consideration but at the end of the day picking Chelsea was an easy choice because of Pulisic and the rest of the squad. I love the mix of young guns (Pulisic, Mount, Abraham) and salty vets (Wilian, Alonso, and Giroud).

I lied. I did go into reasoning.

This will do it. I took my wife who hated soccer to Man city at Chelsea 2 years ago and she loves it now. Also awful game, lost 2-0 and a ton of fights, was amazing

Are you a Man City fan or Chelsea fan? I finally got back into the Premier League this season after a cool decade of not watching. I made the decision to watch as many teams as possible this year and then pick a team to follow. Would’ve been Fulham (saw McBride and Bocanegra play at Craven Cottage back in 2004) but it appears they were relegated a few yeas back. I won’t get into reasoning but after careful consideration I think I’m going with Chelsea.

  5. It said on Tweeter that this game was also on FSMW Plus in STL. Is that the alternative channel to FSMW (e.g. 671-1 for those with DirecTV?) I was planning on taking my 4.5 year old to a dirty bar to watch while the wife stays home with the 2 week old but obviously I’d rather watch at home. I went to 671-1 and it says “upcoming game FGCU vs Florida” which obviously isn’t our game so still not sure if it’s on but I guess that’s a good sign at least.

i sat behind the Seattle bench... one player vented his frustration to the coach by saying "im the only one not scared to rebound down there".... they were frustrated yes

I sat right behind Seattle’s bench as well. That Wisconsin transfer was their best player by far and his dad made sure everyone knew. By the way, they definitely have all-inclusive tickets because I didn’t get up once during the game and took down 8 Selects.  How those seats aren’t filled is beyond me.

  7. That sounds like a good option. Save me from going downtown and not too far from my work. I'm assuming you've been there? Decent food for lunch?

Anyone else in for The Post?

The Post has excellent food. Heck, they even have bar food for the health conscious (baked buffalo wings). The main reason I like The Post is their arsenal of tvs AND.....they have the sound for the main game, which one would assume to be the SLU game.

  8. Butler is very small. Dayton is large as far as Catholic schools go, for example, but I don't think that should give them any advantage.

As far as rankings go, Creighton - like Xavier and Butler - falls under U.S. News' regional rankings for the Midwest. Creighton is ranked #1 in the Midwest, Butler #2 and Xavier tied for #4. Pretty impressive. I don't think SLU has any sort of academic edge over Creighton.

(BTW, Villanova is ranked #1 in the North rankings, Providence tied for #4.)

Actually, if you're going by US News ranking then SLU most definitely has an academic advantage over Creighton.

I believe the big difference between national and regional is what they offer. Regional rankings are schools that focus on undergraduate and offer few doctoral programs.

Now, you can argue these rankings all you want but looking at Creighton's US News profile, I'd say SLU and Creighton are quite distinct.

  9. Not sure what in that thread made the OP feel the need to come over to Billikens.com and post about it. There were a few idiots and different opinions but a decent chunk of that thread was complementary to SLU

Some of the posts from that thread.

    STLFan,

You are correct in that the thread turned very complimentary of SLU. I was referring to the 5 or 6 topics with Slu's name in them I've seen at powermizzou the past month or so. Those usually started and ended with SLU bashing with a few positive comments sprinkled in. Additionally, most of those complimentary posts in the most recent thread occurred after I had posted on here. It started out like the typical SLU bashing thread but I think people are now realizing that SLU is a team to give proper recognition.

In the end, I know I shouldn't care what people think but I guess I had to do some venting. From here on out, we'll let SLU's play do the talking!

Charlie Tuna is still alive?!?!?! I remember going to my car around 1am in the CWE 7 or 8 years ago. He was walking around aimlessly in the Tom's Bar and Grill parking lot. He looked the opposite of sober.

  10. Why do you go and read their posts then? Mizzou fans on here saying how SLU sucks are plain stupid but you making dumb posts like this just asks for it. The SLU people who go to their site and report back what they are saying are as bad. Get a life, enjoy the year, maybe we can run into them in the tourney and settle it for them but quit reporting that they have dumb message board posters. This is America, dumb people are everywhere.

Internet tough guy!!! I read their posts because I've received degrees from the two schools and read powermizzou regularly. The level of groundless cockiness over there has started to get out of control however. Funny thing is, you just wasted your time responding to a post telling me not to waste my time responding. This is indeed America which affords you the option of skipping over this topic. In the mean time, I am going to attempt to procure a life as you have tritely suggested...

  11. Someone just posted the article Bernie wrote comparing the two. I love when the topic of SLU comes up on Powermizzou. 75% of the comments call SLU "irrelevant" which is odd when the threads reach dozens of responses. One of four posters praises Slu for their season, but most of them completely bash this team.

My favorite is how they constantly use themselves as a measuring stick, or comment on all of their success. Last time I checked, Mizzou and SLU have the same amount of Final Fours. In fact, SLU has a 1948 NIT Championship, which was considered equally impressive as the NCAA tourney back then.

Mizzou fans constantly argue the history of the Tigers, that they have been to considerably more tournaments. No one is arguing that. They win there. They win the mediocre prize: most times disappointing your fan base by exiting the tourney without accomplishing anything.

Delusional would sum their fanbase up perfectly. Void of any humility and overflowing with delusions of grandeur. I can't imagine a Michigan fan or a Florida fan, etc reading their posts.
