Yeah that kind of stuff is underratedly key for SLU's chances. SLU is targeting the guys we want them to target. But if the carousel starts spinning out of control, we may get bullied out of line. I am also hoping that a team like Indiana St or even Drake doesn't go on a Sweet 16 NCAA run

SLU has the potential to be a top 5 non power 5 job. Great facilities, good financial commitment, good market, generally just good commitment to the program but not a ton of pressure to win, etc.

In the NIL/transfer era, every position can be upgraded every year. Guys like Jimerson and Parker would be nice pieces in smaller roles on a better team but both have huge limitations that will hold any team back if they're the focal points

Going from Travis Ford to the 6'9 Alan Huss would also be interesting.

They do run "the weave" a decent amount though so I know that's a big red flag on this board.

Can't say I know anything about their coach but I definitely like the team. I prefer a Mack or Schertz or Kerns (apparently there's mutual interest there although I think he has better geographical fits) but he'd be a very interesting name if we get priced out or bullied out of the top guys.

I've actually watched probably 5 or 6 High Point games this year because I've been betting on them as they frequently cover the spread. They're kind of entertaining. Really good and efficient offense (better than ours by all metrics) and pretty bad defense (still better than ours by all metrics). Their offense plays with decent tempo but it's also just pretty smooth flowing and they get open looks. It would be interesting to see how he'd do with an even better roster.

He or others like him are a good move if you want to keep the basketball budget the same but greatly enhance the NIL program. Or if boosters/BOT say we are on a tighter budget after such a large buyout. And I'm not opposed to getting a good floor coach and letting NIL do the recruiting. Just depends on what guys like Schertz or even Kerns are looking for. I assume Mack is looking for the moon.

I'm sure SLU will have Guy Phillips make like 10 announcements to stick around for the end of the game. As if that's convincing anyone. We can't make it tonight anyway but there's zero chance I'd have my kids sticking around. And if it is a blowout it's hard to blame anyone for leaving. But I am intrigued by Ford taking the mic one final time in Chaifetz.
