  1. I'm not sure how you see it as such a big drop. Its clearly better now as the conferences stand and even back in the mid to late 90's there wasnt much of a difference with teams like UMASS, Rhode Island, and Temple, and later on Xavier being nationally ranked teams year in and year out. What is this drop in recruits you speak of? Did SLU go from making the NCAA tourney year in year out and then move to the A10 and lose recruits and thos psotseason appearances? I dont think so. So I think your argument of losing players to the "big" drop from C-USA to the A10 is a dumb one.
  2. As far as I am concerned thos bolded points above right there are more than a lot of the "bottom feeders" do. If you are one of the schools doing that then I believe you have the right to want the other schools to do it as well. One of the biggest problems is that some of these schools at the bottom dont try to get better, they just dont care. They dont schedule well and they have horrible RPI's and then they go and every once in a while, like in every conference, get some big upsets in the conference then they return to sucking. These teams are riding the coattails of the top teams in the conference and taking the money they bring in from the post season. Now I know SLU hasnt been to the post season in some years but one can clearly see that they are doing everything in their power to fix that and aren't content with being mediocre like some schools in this league. Being critical of these schools isnt saying that SLU doesnt like this conference but it is saying we want it to be the best it can be. Every team has a right to their opinions of how to make the conference better. We have to produce results also but they are coming.
  3. I am also a SLU student and Bills fan. So I know what we have been doing to get better at basketball. Unfortunately I will be gone soon and wont be here in person to see it.
  4. SLU has shown a commitment to the basketball program. They have a brand new on campus arena and a great coach who knows how to recruit and develop players. While they are still having growing pains now they are on the right track. This is why I believe SLU has the right to criticize any school in the league that has not chosen to do the same thing. Now the results will have to come from SLU but I believe they will because they are doing the right things now.
  5. No what helps is OOC scheduling. Xavier's SOS was in the top 10 4 games ago. Afer playing Charlotte, Fordham, GW, and St Joes it has fallen to 47. Thank god Mike Bobinski and Sean Miller know how to schedule and have a commitment to doing so. I believe Majerus will get that in order now that his freshman have a year under their belts. I do agree that dropping probably LaSuck and St. Bona would be the best. I know the new A10 commish has worked on drumming up some standards and expecations from every school over the next few years and has put those in effect.
  6. This is pretty much my opinion as well and those of most Xavier fans I know.
  7. I wouldnt call them major. That place will still be like a high school gym.
  8. It has been done in this league recently. There is are new guidelines on spending and attendance I believe. I will try to find an article regarding this.
  9. I think that if SLU goes 3-0 the rest of the way they are in the NIT. We would be 11-5 in the A10 which is better than the conference record from the last time SLU had 20 wins and got left out. If we go 3-0 and one tourney win in the A10 I think its close to a lock. Also while the RPI plays a part, it plays much less of a part than people realize. The NCAA selection committee has said as much in the past. Also having a good venue to host the games is an important thing too.
  10. Ya, Dayton Basketball, "Hosting NCAA tourney games, not playing in them". Thats been a tradition for a while now.
  11. Dayton players have to get their dates drunk in order to get lucky.
  12. We had told a Chrlotte fan over on the Xavier board about it too and he actually brought a watermelon to the game. This is what he had to say: "ran to the grocery store on the way to the game and got a watermelon. Those poor Dayton players... the looks on their faces was priceless as I pulled out the watermelon... "Oh, damn dude... we gotta put up with it here too?" Thanks for the tip guys."
  13. Glad that the watermelon thing is making its way to other A10 schools. Just some good fun. Now how bout some pictures? Dayton dream girl. I borrowed this one from another poster on the Xavier bored.
  14. How exactly would it be a big mistake? How would it be slander? There is no mention of any player's specific name. The situation that happened years ago is very different than chanting watermelons at a game or having pictures of watermelons.
  15. Yeah because clearly you arent a UD troll. Making references to watermelons during the game would not be slander. There would be no players associated with holding up a picture of watermelons. I love your response though.
  16. Ya thats it. Sorry I just checked the board today and didnt see the care to explain last night.
  17. Funny you mention Cronin because a lot of Xavier fans have felt the same way that ever since Huggins left the rivalry has kind of died down a somewhat but Cronin fixed that last week with making the comment about how the Big East is SO good and how could Joe Lunardi only have 7 teams in his mock bracket etc. He then went on to say Syracuse would easily win the A10. I post a lot on the Xavier message boasrd and we had a field day with that one. Is there anything worse than hearing coaches whine about the tournament. Win your games Mick and you will get in. Boeheim is even worse. Maybe if he didnt schedule Little Sisters of the poor in the OOC his team would get more respect. Does anyone ever hear Coach K or Roy Williams complaining about how hard the ACC is? The ACC IS a better league than the Big East this year. Big East coaches are so annoying.
  18. Watermelons, Watermelons, Watermelons. I posted it in another thread. Dayton players have a long history of sexual relations with watermelons. If someone brought a printed out picture of a watermelon UD players would 100% understand the meaning of it and the looks on their faces would be priceless.
  19. Oh I agree we can take out UD theres no doubt about that. We lost by 1 @UD and now their best defensive guard is out. I just think that when XU and UD are playing at their best they are clearly the best teams in the league hence why they will both receive at large bids to the tourney.
  20. While XU lost to Charlotte tonight them and Dayton are clearly better than the rest of the league. Temple is close and then the rest of the league is separated by hairs with each other but not really too close to UD and XU.
  21. Huelsman might be the worst player in the A10 who gets significant minutes. He has taken over as the "traffic cone" for Jimmie Binne who graduated last year. Traffic cone because he stands there while people go right past him. He has not progressed whatsoever from freshman year. He has two games this year with ZERO rebounds in 25 and 19 mins. And two more with 1 rebound and 4 more with 2 rebounds. Also if you are looking for any taunting material someone should print out a big picture of a watermelon as Dayton players are known watermelon humpers dating back years ago.
  22. Oh no problem. And I was telling a buddy today that if SLU manages to get on a hot streak in the conference tourney and they got to the conference championship and it was against Xavier I wouldnt outwardly root against Xavier but I would be happy if SLU won since XU is already in the tourney. On a side note Xavier's guard play is downright awful right now and they looked horrible tonight in a loss @ Charlotte. If they dont get things turned around they could go from looking like they were a 3 seed not too long ago to a 7 seed easily.
