When I saw Mitchell play I thought he was the 3rd best player on his team too. He has definate defensive potential, but really needs to improve his shot. Right now he doesn't measure up offensively to play the wing at a D1 level. Brad worked wonders with TL's shot. If he can do the same with Mitchell he'll be a good player. If not, he'll have to contribute as a defensive specialist. I don't disagree with the signing, but he's going to need time to develope.

Regarding Lacey, I saw East St. Louis play Alton this year. On that one game assessment Lacey was by far the better player. He was very aggressive, good handle and attacked the basket at every opportunity. He also had a nice outside shot and hit his free throws. Mitchell looked ahtletic, but didn't shoot well, missed his free throws and didn't stand out on defense except for a few open court traps when he displayed he was a capable defender. The big center for Eastside dominated the middle and looked good as well as their guards. That may have been an off game for him, but based on what I saw I don't expect him to be a major contributer next year. He may develope into a good role player and if he improves his shooting could be more.

I'm a long time reader, first time poster. Did anyone notice the article said you reciece one point for every $50 donated? As I recall when the point system was started we recieved points for each year as a season ticket holder, billiken club member,etc. and one point for each $100 donated. When was this revised? Did our long term status as season ticket holders and billiken club members suddenly loose 50% of their value in this formula? On another topic, I wouldn't expect Anthony Mitchell to contibute much as a freshman unless it's defensively. I've only seen him play once, so he might have just had a bad game, but he didn't look like had a good shot. The game I saw was East Side vs. Alton and Lacey was by far the more impressive player.
