The arena was well in motion before Cheryl got here, lets keep that in mind. Texas A&M turned around a sports program in two years, how many years will it take SLU? Baseball and volleyball are good starts, now we need the money making sports to do its share.

I'd like to hear everyone's thoughts. Biondi, as controversial as he's been, has finally started to bring the Academic portion of SLU around and the national recognition is snowballing. Sadly, the same can't be said for Cheryl.

Taj, I completely agree with you. The one exception may be Marquette, although I think their fans were just drunk. People post on our board because they pity us and our observed "small program status" outside of this board. Maybe one day people will hate us (which means we are beating up on them) but that is just not the case. If anyone actually approaches me in a bar outside of St. Louis while the SLU game, its not to talk $hit, its to ask "What is a Billiken, what is a Billiken?!" or "where is SLU" (as terrible as that sounds, I do get asked that all the time). We have very little recogniztion outside the Maquette's and UC's of the world, which is pretty sad.

As I've said before, I have not posted on this board. I've been a long time observer of the board, first time poster under RealisticBilliken. Its been fun thus far.

I certainly hope that this SLU team will rebound like the 98 SLU team. I believe Brad was thoroughly embaressed by his team's effort and should seriously give the team one heck of a beating in practice (I would expect nothing less). I believe to regain the respect of anyone outside this board, SLU needs to THUMP solid mid-major teams like SIU and Missouri State by 20 points, beat UNC, and finish with at least 21 wins. Then and only then will we make the tourny.

How many sub-40 point performances and 30 point losses are you going to accept before you get upset? You have one heck of a tolerance for atrocious basketball if you can have patience after a game like this. Please teach this sort of blind optimism to the other 95% of rational people who would have lost a significant amount of confidence about a team after a 33 point effort.

The Texas/Duke game is not a fair comparison. Texas is SIGNIFICANTLY more talented then us. They lost by 31, not 40. They scored 66 points, we scored 33. And they had beaten Iowa and WV prior (slightly better then Lamar and Quincy). Texas also plays in the Big 12, so even if they lay an egg one game, they can easily rebound with enough quality wins against good conference teams. SLU plays in the A-10. Any loss in the conference is a bad loss for us in the Committee's eyes. And why don't we take a look at the body of work. Zero NCAA Tournaments in the past 6 years. Pretty fair to judge on that. I'm sorry I don't settle for medicority, ala Nashivlle and Sshoe. This game will also drive TONS of fans away (except the for the UNC game). I'm not writing off the season, we'll have a nice cozy second round exit in the NITs this year. And for some of you on this board, you'd be just pleased with that result.

How do you take joy in scoring 33 points and making 11 baskets? I personally don't. This is the 2nd game we've scored under 40 in the past 5 games. HOW ARE YOU OPTIMISTIC?! We've had 3 good games (I wouldn't call the Lamar game great, we did give up 69 to them) against teams that will have a plus 200 RPI. Those games were against the doormat's of the NCAA. I didn't think we were a doormat to the upper escholon teams but if we don't start winning some of these games against the top 25, we have ZERO chance of making the NCAAs and that is a flat out fact. This game should have opened people's eyes to the fact that we just can't compete on a Top 25 level. I think we got a little too excited by a powder puff early schedule. If we beat UNC, I may change my opinion, but by the pi$$ poor effort last night, I can't see us doing much better. TL looked like he was sleepwalking, and LM was the only one who knew how to block out (apparently they didn't teach that to BH in Iowa). Listen, don't take my critizism as a lack of passion for SLU basketball (if its any indication, it should be how much I really care about the Bills) but seriously, noone in their right mind can say we deserve a spot in the NCAA tourny after a performance like that.

Yes. That team was called Quincy. And they sure put up a hell of a better fight then we did against A&M.

I could understand a bad game. This went far beyond a bad game. Webster's dictionary needs to define a new phrase for a loss like this and call it: "Getting Billikened"

Remeber that Texas lost to Duke...yes Duke, not Texas A&M. I don't know the score of that game but I'm sure Texas scored more then 33 points. I stand by my comment that unless we win the A-10 tourny, there's no dancin in the Billikens future. And our first 3 games were a mirage of our offense. We won't score anywhere near 80 against an even average team. I hate to sound negative, by I try to give the realistic point of view. We don't have the talent of Texas to bounce back and put up a solid effort against good teams. Texas lost to Duke, lets keep that straight.

Good find Moy. And sadly, I agree with everything in there. I just wish charter would have left Sand Volleyball on so I didn't have to watch it either. Maybe we can rebound in the upcoming games, but we can take NO, ZERO, NONE, ZILCH positives from this game. An absolute embaressment to this program, SLU basketball, and me as a fan in general. Im sick of talking about this. How about we all stop posting until next weeks game about anything? Otherwise, I will get more and more pissed about yesterday's game.

I agree with Jimmy here. This loss eliminates us any chance at gaining an at-large berth. The committee looks at this loss and says we can't beat a quality opponent. The only chance to redeem ourselves is at the UNC game. We MUST win or its so long tourny hopes unless we win the A-10, hello NIT (maybe).

That's right, becuase he couldn't get into position nor grab an offensive rebound to save his life!

i agree with Roy and VTIME. Ian had his chance, on a big stage, to show he belonged with the top centers in the league. Instead he got outplayed by the noname A&M center. Way to show up Ian.

I didn't know a team gets credit for good defense when their opposition misses layups and wide open perimiter shots...explain if I'm wrong here.

You are a moron. Texas A&M missed a TON of wide open shots. Their defense was average as we had many open looks. SLU just flat out sucked. If Texas A&M plays a half way decent team, they get blown out that game. Law is a crap player, noone could get a hand in his face and you can't make a shot with no rotation on it consistantly without swishing it. Liddell exerted no effort on either end of the floor. Bryce is clearly not the answer for next year. How does a 7'1 player miss so many layups! No wonder noone else recruited him. Texas A&M deserves no credit for this game. The only credit you could give them would be showing up, something the Billikens obviously didn't do. This one is squarely on the shoulders of SLU. Obviously the refs sucked but if we had made 35 percent of our shots, we would be right there in the game. We are in MAJOR MAJOR MAJOR trouble the rest of the season. Brad better kick there lazy @$$ in practice this week or I'm ready to throw in the towel as another over-hyped season endures. Its tough being a Billiken fan, real tough. And I'm real pi$$ed.

We deserve to get torn apart in the press. Absolute garbage out there on the court, complete garbage.
