They are ranked 27th in the AP, play in the MVC, and have a deadeye shooter in Ahearns. That's good enough for me to know the outcome of this one.

MO State is ranked 27th in the AP. This will be no cakewalk. We struggled against a pathetic Pacific team. So how many loses does it take for us not to get invited to anything, except beautiful downtown STL?

We can only lose 1, maybe 2 non-cons and then run the weak A10. I don't see us beating either NC or MO State. Nothing we do in the A10 is going to raise any eyebrows unless we run it but that's not going to happen. I say we hope for another NIT. Always the bridesmaid, never the bride.

See the The Book on Romar has been closed, the Book on Brad nee....thread. We are no perennial powerhouse by any means. We've been to the NCAA Tourney a total of what, 6 times? That's 6 times! And our last win was nearly a decade ago. The last Sweet 16 was in 1957! And we talk it up like we are some hotshot BB team steeped in tradition? Hell, even the Salukis have been there 9 times and this year will make it 10 for GSakes! Some of you are living a dream. We are what we are. A small catholic college in a small metro area in a no-name conference comprised of like small schools. Period! If you wanted to talk smack about BB, then you should have gone to UCLA, or Duke. Now go study and get a life!

What is it going to take to make the Tourney? We lost to two very good tourney bound teams so far. We don't have the luxury of making it three loses with NC coming to town. IMO, we can't rely on winning the majority of A-10 games either. The A-10 is no powerhouse. See latest power conference rankings: Conference 1. ACC 2. Pac 10 3. Missouri Valley 4. Big East 5. I think the team will (or I hope so) learn from this. SIU is just one of the top teams in the country. If we want to beat the big boys then we need to start playing like them. They knocked us around pretty good yesterday. That's the difference between playing a lightweight vs a heavyweight. The big boys will always, always kick your rear.

I think you are right on. May I add that I think the Salukis just wore us out by halftime. Never looked like we had much left after that. Their D was smothering. No one looked like they were comfortable. I figured they would have blown us out by the 15 minute mark in the 2nd half. I think we were darn lucky to only lose by 9. Could easily have been 19.

Well that may be, but you are focusing your anger in the wrong place. Don't take it out on the Salukis. We are the ones who stunk the place up. They made us look bad. We looked like a bunch of HS players out there. Hopefully, we won't be going up against another defensive team like them for the remainder of the year.
