  1. I was getting a headache.
  2. Saved the season right there. What call did all the SLU players want?
  3. Pretty weak stuff. Almost like they felt bad about calling the (correct) offsides call a few minutes prior.
  4. Bergstrom had 6 points in 1 minute played. Leave her in the other 39 minutes and SLU wins this by about 170. Not sure why we're leaving so many points on the table.
  5. This is a tough non-conference schedule. I'm pleased with the 2-1 start. Hopefully they can grab another one at Southern Indiana later this week. They were picked to win the OVC this season.
  6. This felt like the play of the game. Gray had the ball and not much of a plan. Almost made about 3 different bad decisions before just going to the rim and making it happen.
  7. Bad calls are starting to pile up. They let ISU play through a shot clock violation and then gave Gray a charge on an obvious flop by the ISU defender.
  8. 14-2 run in just over 4 minutes. Keep it up.
  9. Calhoun headed toward the tunnel with a trainer.
  10. He didn't have a great connection so there were some technical issues but he's still great to talk to.
  11. UMass got a few of those dangerous crosses in a short span. Unfortunate, as SLU dominated until then. Now Houck is down after taking a knee to the head on a good slide tackle to stop UMass.
  12. What a vintage Emily Gaebe goal. Ball was dropped into a triangle of UMass defenders and Gaebe still got there first and made something of it. And yes, Simon has been excellent lately.
  13. No Izzy Luebbert today - she was hurt in the previous game.
  14. Teams are taking the field and suddenly the sound has dropped out of the ESPN+ feed.
  15. https://x.com/TreyEdwards_3/status/1854925324888240248 ( @SluSignGuy, there seems to be an issue with tweets embedding.) Anyway, new interest for another STL-born and raised kid now in Texas: Trey Edwards - G, 6-4, 170 - Dallas, TX (Melissa) - AAU: AB Elite (Nike EYBL) - Twitter: @TreyEdwards_3 Offers: Mississippi State, North Texas, Morehead State, Southeast Missouri, Texas-Arlington, McNeese State, Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Interest: Saint Louis, Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Vanderbilt, SMU, Baylor, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, West Virginia, Tulsa, Texas-San Antonio, Drake, SIU-Carbondale, Sam Houston State, Canisius, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Latest News: Corey Tate was out to see Edwards. (11/8/24) Scouting Report: Edwards is an athletic, high-scoring combo guard with a vast skill set for a young prospect. He scores on three levels and gets downhill with ease. He has a nice shot from outside, with deep range. He's crafty and quick, changing speeds and directions smoothly. He has good positional size and plays with a ton of poise and confidence. He's originally from St. Louis. His mom played volleyball at UAPB.
  16. Ran out of gas. Which is a shame - this was closer than the score will show. Tight game for 35 minutes.
  17. Rebounding is haunting them now, too. So many second chances for Drake. The bigs just aren't quite at Drake's level. The guard talent has been upgraded, though. Holy smokes, Anumele is good. Wallace is going to be a nice player, too.
  18. Anumele is up to 24. She's impressive. SLU is down 66-56, though, Drake is getting good looks (or fouls) too easily at the basket. SLU is going to struggle against skilled bigs all year. Rushing things at the offensive end, too.
  19. Drake played NDSU. They didn't look great against NDSU. SLU played South Dakota. There aren't any errors in my post.
  20. Drake is very, very good. The NDSU performance was a little surprising, although NDSU has finished 2nd in the Summit the past two seasons and been in the WNIT both times. Not an easy road game. Drake will be sharper at home, though. SLU's shooting has to be better and they have to limit turnovers. We said on the podcast that we hoped SLU could win 1 of these first 2. Mission accomplished. Make it 2 and we're ahead of schedule.
  21. Ugly stuff. If I'm looking for reasons to be optimistic, though: Gray was back in the lineup. We might really have something in Anumele. Streaky but fearless, and she looks the part. She was good from outside (3-6) on a day when Kennedy and Bergstrom (combined 2-11) weren't hitting. In a bad offensive performance, the defense was there. They didn't let S&T even begin to creep back into the game. There's a lot to work on, but unfortunately not much time left. The season starts with 2 tough road games - South Dakota won 23 games last season and Drake ran away with the Valley (26-9, 19-1, MVC Tournament champs) and is expected to repeat. In a truly odd coincidence, both the men's and women's teams will start the regular season in the state of South Dakota on the same day.
  22. Yeah, that's always the sense that I got, too. Still wish he wouldn't have left town, though.
