  1. The kids are not big name talent - on very few if any top 100 lists. The kids may be a upgrade over what you have now. Just because they were recruited by a big 10 or big 12 school does not mean they were offered scholarships or were even wanted - these teams recruit just about everybody they think might be good, then if they don't hit on the top talent they start going down the list until they fill the slots. Again you think these kids are great and under recognized but they don’t show up on many top 100 lists. You will claim the lists are biased. The exact same thing happens to Mizzou football recruits. Mizzou fan will claim bias and that these players are just great. After seeing the results over the last few years I tend to believe the recruiting services.
  2. Well with football now over I guess its BBall time. I see everyone over here is all giddy over Soderberger new contract. Well I see lots of parallels with Gary Pinkel. • Both seem to lose early season games to nobody’s • Both recently got 5-year contract extensions even though they were barely .500 coaches • Fans of both teams are worried their coach will get a better job offer - even though neither has anything to worry about until one of them actually wins something • Neither has won any type of championship or made any noise in the post-season • Both seem to win a game here or there to keep fans hopes up (see Louisville and Nebraska) • Both are/were media darlings • Fans are so proud how both run such clean programs • Both put a priority and are doing a good job keeping local talent • Neither gets the top big name talent • Respective fans think the kids they do get are under recognized and sleepers that others overlooked • Remains to be seen if either can actually coach better talent rather than the kids with heart they have had • Both are quick to suspend kids that don't follow the "program" Bottom line is that wins is what counts. Good Luck This Year.
  3. Huh? The link http://www.nacubo.org/documents/research/F...ingForPress.pdf clearly states that UM system has 866.3 million and SLU has 645.3 million that is 220 million difference. Even more interesting is that in 2001 http://www.nacubo.org/documents/research/F...l%20Listing.pdf SLU had 819 million and the UM system had 738 million. Looks to me like the two schools are going in opposite directions. I can now see why the arena keeps getting delayed. Maybe Wollard was jumping off a sinking ship. Plus the UM system gets a hugh subsidy from the state while I am sure SLu has to spend most of its endowment money on scholorships so people can afford to attend the overpriced university. A better proxy would be to look at operating budget and divide by the number of students to see how much is spent per student. Also the commuter universities of the UM system have seen far less new infrastructor compared to Mizzou. It is obious which university in th UM system get the lion share of the money.
  4. http://www.nacubo.org/documents/research/F...ingForPress.pdf More mis-information. Here are the facts. Here is the 2003 list from NAUCBO guess what Mizzou checks in at number 51 with 866 million up 15% from 2002. SLU checks in at "drumroll......." number 68 with 645 million DOWN 6.8%. If you want to get into the acedemic argument I could list a thousand things Mizzou researchers have accomplished. Oh let me know when SLU's researchers find the cure for cancer. I suspect this is SLU's plan to raise the money for the arena. After SLU sells the rights to the cure for cancer they might have enough money to afford an arena. Yea we have problems with fundraising. This has really hurt us. Have fun playing in the Savvis owned by Paige Entertainment!
  5. Huh? Looks like we are doing fine, huge gift in March of 04'. Don't think Mizzou is the school that needs to worry about the rate of their fundraising. Support Paige Entertainment --- Support Mizzou
  6. http://givingtomu.missouri.edu/news/athletics-gift.htm http://formizzou.missouri.edu/totals.htm http://www.missouri.edu/%7Edevtisg/campaig...b/athletics.pdf Get your facts together. Mizzou continues to raise more money than they are even asking for, for athletics. Slu has had to delay groundbreaking for the arena that may be built because they can't come up with the funds. If anyone is having trouble raising money it is SLU. The new arena season tickets are selling very well and football seasons tickets are increasing. Mizzou will soon have some of the finest facilities in the nation. Enjoy playing in the Savvis, owned by Paige entertainment. You are indirectly lining Mizzou's pockets. Thanks!!!
  7. At least the national journalists are objective. http://www.sportsline.com/collegebasketball/story/7324768
  8. The lame "save the egg on our face" infraction the NCAA game Mizzou will probably be overturned. The NCAA just does not have any evidence but had to come up with something. Do I like that Mizzou was investigated by the NCAA no. But when you are a big time up a coming program with a big time recruiter and a new arena that is actually going to open up next year, Well People are out to get you, it come with the territory. Maybe one day the Bills will find that out. Also no one in their right mind thinks that SLU has passed Mizzou. Looking back on the past five years Mizzou went to 4 NCAA's an Elite 8 and a sweet 16. SLU went to 0. One year that the program underachieved does not mark a huge change. I can already hear the Billikens cry in December "wait till next year" Happens every year about that time.
  9. Mid Year Checkup Wow with all the speculation from SLU fans all year long its very quiet when some actual facts come out. Looks like the NCAA had to come up with a lame infraction to try and save some face. All that looking around and this was all they could find? I suspect if the NCAA looked around at SLU as hard as they did at Mizzou they would drag a few things up as well. I suspect the major infraction will be overturned when Mizzou makes its case. But if not it looks like the worse case is a scholorship cut and some recruiting restrictions. Good thing Laurie can pay his own way. Now that the info is out look for TH to start looking a little more favorable at Mizzou. Notice how he keeps putting off his decision, hes been waiting all along just had to make sure he covered his bases. Well I am sure there are plenty of SLU fans POed about the ruling judging by how quiet everyone is. Truth is there never was much there. Just alot of sour grapes from billiken fans praying to gain some ground on the mighty Tigers.
  10. Thank God the season is over the team is painful to watch. I hope MU doesn't accept the NIT bid. Does not seem like any of them want to be playing anyway. The good thing about Mizzou is at least we have football to look forward to. Untill yet another NIT run by the Bills next year. Vanilla OUT
  11. Oh so if you get good players you must have cheated. I guess that means a whole lot of good teams are cheaters. But not SLU they can't seem to get anybody thats good so they must be a clean program. typical SLU response. SLU could be just as guilty as the next guy but since they won't release the info we will never know.
  12. Pulley left, Quin did not kick him off the team, he just stopped showing up for practice. As for LK losing him is a big hit for the team. Quin made the tough choice and had him get surgery to correct the problem and avoid any further damage even though it could cost the Tigers their season. Quin is a players coach, no wonder kids want to come play for him. Quin decided not to risk his players futures when suffering a sholder injury. Also every year Quins teams seem to pick it up at the end of the year. That sounds like good coaching to me. Now yes it would be great if they played well all year long. But much like hockey all that matters is the postseason. I like the coaching that Quin is doing to get the boys to peak at just the right time.
  13. Lets see in the last five years MIZ-ZOU has NOT been hit with any Major violation and the word out of Columbia is no Major violations were found in the investigation. Now yes they have been hit with minor violation but so have just about every other program. In fact the Post showed that Illinois had more violations than MIZ-ZOU in the last few years. Now we have no idea how many violations SLU has had because they won't release the information. So untill they release the info how do you know they run a clean program? The Tigers roll continues. Quin has coached the team to peak at just the right time. The big dance could be fun this year. To bad you wont be joining us. Good luck in the NIT.
  14. The look pretty good to me. Playing good defense and winning when it counts. Some of the credit has to go to coaching. Quin is the man. This could be his fifth year in a row in the NCAA tournament. Say what you will but that is a record SLU only dreams of.
  15. Actually Mizzou did not have "the luxury of playing their highest ranked RPI opponent at home." (12) Gonzaga - road (26) Illinois - nuetral (17) Memphis - road (24) Syracuse - home (41) Oklahoma - road (6) Texas - home (47) Colorado - home and away (18) Kansas - road (11) Oklahoma St - home So in the top 50 RPI 5 road 4 home. Hardly the luxury you make it out to be. Quin's masterful late season coaching job has the tigers at it yet again. If you give Quin blame for the early season losses I am sure you admire how he has turned the season around and you must give him credit now. If the tigers make some noise in the tournament no one will care about the first 2/3 of the season. NCAA basketball is all about the post-season. Good luck in the NIT
  16. Give it up. BROY likes small classes and good grammer. CheeseBOY likes more choices and a less costly education. Most rankings have the two schools pretty close in the best college lists. Also enough with the stupid grammer facts. Just stick to the important facts. Like Mizzou's athletic dominance.
  17. SLU must win Conf Tourney, just to many CUSA teams ahead in RPI, plus SLU won't get the benefit of the doubt from the committee. Mizzou needs to go 3-1 to lock up an at large bid. Thought BROY and other naysayers would find this interview a good read about what is really going on at Mizzou. http://www.columbiatribune.com/2004/Feb/20040222Spor013.asp
  18. 1)True but SLU's has no chance without winning conf tourney. To far down the RPI scale in CUSA. 2)True 3)Who cares 4)Why do they need two teams. Bad conference 5)Quin's teams peak late in the year. If they win Tuesday this year will be no exception. 6) Many more people who pay for the Post are more interested in Mizzou than SLU. They are just giving the people what they want. 7) Maybe
  19. St Bonnie Michigan Utah Washington Wisconsin UNLV Baylor Maryland Texas Tech Syracuse Texas A&M Georgia Just some of the teams that have ACTUALLY had postseason bans in recent memory. Infact looking at the following link of major NCAA infractions Mizzou is well down the list with 3, guess who is not far behind -- SLU -- with 2. https://goomer.ncaa.org/dev60cgi/rwcgi60?p_mostinf People have very short memories. Plus Quin has alot of supporters in the national media. Outside of SLU fans by next year at this time all will be forgotten. People will be well on to the next scandal. (See Colorado)
  20. so you say. therefore it must be true. your opinion is just that. only an opinion. everyone has an opinion but that doesn't prove anything.
  21. "Any" refers to questions regarding his transcripts and acedemic fraud. Again the NCAA has cleared Mizzou of any wrong doing regarding acedemic fraud making the discussion about his transcripts moot. However I think there are a few other things he has alleged not related to acedemic fraud.
  22. I said "Mizzou has been cleared by the NCAA of any acedemic fraud. This makes any discussion of RC transcrips moot. " I did not say "The very fact that you consider the Ricky Clemons situation moot IN ANY REGARD WHATSOEVER". Big difference between "transcripts" and "in any regard". just don't care about the acedemic fraud discussion. NCAA has cleared Mizzou in this regard.
  23. BROY Why not. You gain favor with the NCAA. It is not as if the Tigers are having a monster season. If a postseason ban were on its way why not take it now or a month or two ago.
  24. BROY, Facts, Nothing has been proven. MANY other schools as reported by the Post have had many more minor violations than Mizzou SLU won't tell the post how many minor violations they have had. They for sure have had some. The NCAA singled out MIZZOU giving them an award for their compliance program only a year before RC. This fact alone suggests they will escape the dreaded "lack of institutional control" Report is complete just waiting for NCAA admin to get back from maternity leave. If there were major penalties they would immediatly self report and take penalties. Mizzou has been cleared by the NCAA of any acedemic fraud. This makes any discussion of RC transcrips moot. Mizzou has a top 10 class coming in, a new building going up, and a peaking at the right time. As a bonus the football team is getting better and better.
  25. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but -- things are starting to look up in Columbia again. As all Quin Snyder teams seem to do they are starting to peak late in the season. I would bet they will squeeze into the tournament once again and make some noise. JMAC is unlikely to leave but may. He will be playing behind Gardner next year and will see more and more time on the bench. He is a bit of a disapointment and is not all that good. He can't seem to find his shot. If he does leave it wont be because on the investigation. Things look pretty good there. The report is done and people inside the athletic department know the results. No major sactions. The report is being held up due to some admin inside the NCAA being gone. Really no big deal. Tyler was in for an official visit. Got a good feeling about him. The antlers visited his high school for their game Friday night. Tyler is ranked as the 5th best recuit in the country. highest ranked recruit in the state since Stipo. Sure would be big to get him to stay in his home state. Enjoy the rest of your season as SLU tries to make that push to the NIT.
