  1. I could care less who comes after tommie. let them all come. none of them were around last year, except brad and his staff. i expect him to be in a billiken uniform next year. this goes with the territory. bad boyz for life
  2. word on the street was that jarod leonard of desmet was at slu this week. from what i've read, he's really starting to come into his own as a top player. reportedly, his dad still loves slu and would love nothing better than to see his son put on a billiken uniform like he did. i heard his mom went to slu as well. this would be another good one to get. our guys seem to be doing a great job of targeting their area recruiting and making it happen. dwayne, tommie, kevin, luke and now we're on leonard. who else from the stl should we be recruiting for the future. i'm a little excited about this. bad boyz for life
  3. i think he has a nice game. it's a good get for mizzou, although it seems out of the ordinary since they usually chase only recruits with high rankings. sounds like a little tyler hansbrough damage control. bad boyz for life
  4. by the way, mike anderson of uab started two dwayne polk sized players last year. squeaky and mo created so much havoc out top that opposing teams were just too flustered into thinking about posting one of them up. winning a conference title and going to the sweet 16: not bad for a team that started TWO midgets in the backcourt.
  5. polk was not recruited heavily because he broke his knee cap. As davidnark mentioned. remember, this is college basketball and not the nba. the thing about dwayne we have to remember is that he is a TRUE point guard. who's the last true point guard we had that we didn't have to convert to the position. dwayne brings that to you right away. I did a little research on the kid from redlands and he is also a true point guard. if he comes, then we're really set. word on the street is that he has visited xavier and is also considering UMass. i haven't heard anything further on that front. if anybody knows anything, let us know. bad boyz for life
  6. tommie liddell couldn't play in the game because he is headed to a prep school, so technically, he's still a high school student and ineligible to play. the dandridge (mt. zion) and anderson kid (laurinburg) are fifth-year prep school kids who played last night. all of the top illinois kids (price, jones, shaw)were in bloomington playing in an all-star game. i asked about terry evans and cameron murkey. evans is alredy in summer school in green bay and murkey was at a family reunion. the local team would have been much better with those guys. people, we have our point guard of the future and present and his name is Dwayne Polk. He will bring a lot of excitement to the savvis center and new arena during his career. that alley-oop dunk was incredible. and it was with his right hand, not his natural left hand. i can't wait to see him, kevin and tommie together for three years. I thought kalen had a nice game as well. he really worked hard every minute he was out there. he is still behind offensively, but when he goea all out, he can accomplish quite a bit. bad boyz for life
  7. word on the street is that another guard is supposed to visit this week. his name is dupree lucas and he plays for redlands junior college in oklahoma. this looks like a jamal walker connection. have at it folks. bad boyz for life p.s. mark anthony, huh.
  8. word on the street was that tommie liddell and his family was on campus this weekend to meet with the coaching staff. the word is that he is headed to south kent prep school in conn., then he will be coming back to slu. if jalensdad has any info on this, let us know if this is correct. when it comes to TL, i defer to his knowledge. bad boyz for life
  9. you notice that floyd never spoke to the media last season when his team lost 10 games and did not go to state? bad boyz for life
  10. this is exactly why nobody with a brain took the notion of him interviewing for the slu job when lorenzo left very seriously. it made for good talk show fodder, but that was about it. could you see that happening in the middle of a game in freedom hall or the shoe. bad boyz for life
  11. by the way, is this the same coach romar that dealt the mighty lute olson three solid ass whippings last season? bad boyz for life
  12. word on the streets is that alexander will sign with slu. bad boyz for life
  13. word on the street is that a junior college player named Antwan Alexander from wabash valley j.c. will visit this week. heard he is athletic, but i don't know much about him. there's also word that a kid from st. Louis named brian cusworth might be considering a move. he went to j. burroughs and then to one of the ivy league schools (yale or harvard), but he sat out last season. he was about 6-10 and real skinny in high school. the word on the street is he has been working with a personal trainer and that he is 7 feet and about 250 pounds right now. supposedly, he's still deciding on whether he will return to his ivy league school or try to move on. i remember seeing him once in high school and he was really skilled but rather thin. don't know of many people leaving an ivy league school education, if he decides to leave, that would be a nice summer pick up. this could be interesting to watch. bad boyz for life
  14. i've seen some of the posts on the illinois board and they are pretty comical, but I'm going to give them a little slack. they are going through a tough time in the past two weeks or recruiting. they were beaten soundly for two of the best guards in their own state by southern illinios (tabb) and slu (lisch), which they feel both programs are beneath them. that's is why they have to justify not getting them by belitting the players and programs. when i hear that, i take that as a compliment. Now, all of the sudden, they are all drooling over dentmon, another top in-state guard, who has already signed and has said repeatedly that he will stay with illinois state. (another school they feel is beneath them). There is even a revisionist thread of posters chafing about how they let an unrecruited in-state guard named dwayne wade get away to marquette and go to the final four. they even want tommie liddell now. i laughing out loud right now. don't get too upset over them belitting kevin lisch's talents. a lot of those same idiots said the same thing about larry hughes when he spurned them to stay home. i had some illinois friends who thought larry was a mid-major talent who was destined for four years in the NIT. (we know how that turned out). not only did larry come here, but he whipped the big 10 champs (illinois) in the dome in '97. and remember, these are many of the same clowns that wanted to run bruce weber out of champaign in december. all he did was win the big 10 outright title and go to the sweet 16 with five underclassmen starting. as for mizzou, i don't pay any attention to them. they have enough of their own problems. to coach soderberg: congrats to getting another tremendous local recruit in the fold. how about that. four of the five players on the post-dispatch all-metro team committed to slu. hopefully, all four will be together in 2006 with a few more on the way. We are on the way to building something nice. the streets have been yapping a little bit over the weekend. i'll be back later. bad boyz for life
  15. curtis is headed to mineral area college. bad boyz for life
  16. he's really good. congrats to chris lowery. what a great start for him. bad boyz for life
  17. the streets are talking once again. i got a buddy who's a farmer in kansas who follows the juco scene quite a bit. word from him is that a slu coach was at allen county c.c. to see andrew washington, a 6'4" forward. never heard of him, but my friend said he wasn't bad. so actually on this one, i guess you can say the wheatfields were talking. bad boyz for life
  18. there was a good chance that he was going to come to slu and sit out as a prop had lorenzo stayed. bad boyz for life
  19. not sure if this has been mentioned on this board, but marcus arnold of illinois state asked for a release from his scholarship. not sure where that stands now, but he was isu's starting power forward for the past two seasons and pretty good. on a sidenote, the coach who recruited arnold to illinois state. Anthony Beane bad boyz for life
  20. yes, he is now at south plains. sorry for the typo. thanks for the correction. bad boyz for life
  21. slu72, actually, one of those 6'8" 240lb. forwards from baltimore did want to come to slu. his name is dennard abraham, who is one of reggie runnng buddies. he has been discussed quite a bit on the board in the past. he committed here, but did not qualify. he is not at south plains j.c. in texas where he had a good freshman year. word on the street is that he is a high priority for the recruiting class of 2005. so, reggie has been looking out for us on that front. bad boyz for life
  22. lorenzo was indeed interested in slu, but he would have had to 18 summer school hours to be eligible at slu next season because of the 50 percent rule regarding juco players. that would have been very tough. bad boyz for life
  23. I'm sure i've been wrong before. I don't know if i can handle all that pressure. bad boyz for life
  24. word on the street is that v. newborne will be wearing billiken blue next season. what did everything think of the tournament at slu last weekend. bad boyz for life.
