  1. Rammer was playing the devil's advocate with Frank. He was doubting any of this was true or actually going on, and seemed skeptical of why RM would come to SLU. As for the horses mouth, I think someone here posted that Frank said he actually talked to RM.
  2. Let's start a fund for putting up a billboard near campus with the above picture and the text reading: "DO IT RIGHT THIS TIME! HIRE RICK!"
  3. Hopefully, they are in a smoke filled room reeking of stale pizza and left over toasted raviolis banging out the details of his contract. Doctor B, why are you so skeptical of Frank Cusamano? He said he got all his facts straight from RM himself. You think he's delusional or just a pathalogical liar? Or could it be he's writing a Sports Illustrated story similar to the one about that pitcher the Mets picked up from the Dali Llama back in '84?
  4. Well, I don't know how many other SLU Alumni are going to do this, but I'm buying two bricks if he's hired.
  5. With RM at the helm we have the potential to dominate the A-10. Let me give you an example, the College of Charleston just landed a big time JUCO SF. He was being recruited by Maryland, NCS, and Ole Miss. This kid's coach and father told him to call Bobby Cremmins and ask if the College of Charleston would be interested in meeting with him. He signed last week to play for the Cougars. I truly believe this type of stuff would happen if RM were coach of the Saint Louis University Billikens.
  6. Tom Pecora, who cares? "Majerus wants to coach at SLU" ....Frank Cusamano.
  7. as to not know what RM's demands might be to coach SLU? Despite a lot of criticism on here about his autocratic personality, everyone's always praised him for his business sense. And more than anyone else he's the guy that got an $80mm arena going up off I40. So it's not like he's not a risk taker. Point here being, I can't believe he wouldn't enter a negotiation this serious in clueless mode. Am sure someone told him, hey he's going to want a bigger budget for AC's, travel, etc. Hopefully, he's ready to come across with it.
  8. Not SLU, but Majerus is a pretty big name/character in College Hoops. Just surprised no one's saying anything.
  9. One thing Cusamano said was RM was not that money motivated. Now granted he ain't coming cheap, but Frank said he'd be more concerned about getting his AC's decent money. Fr.Biondi better be thinking about upping the budget considerably. I truly think he will, because he's got to deliver something big given the events this past week.
  10. Good one Brian. I like the Fetz....
  11. One thing that's strange about this, none of the national sites, ESPN, CNNSI, Sportsline....are saying anything about this. You would think at least ESPN might know something.
  12. Biondi's now got to sign a basketball recruit. C'mon, Larry, get that LOI done!
  13. Biondi's a pretty big framed guy isn't he? If so that's gonna be one slow ride.
  14. Don't know much about the Varner's. Prior to Ross coming to SLU, the only thing I knew about them was they were a Southern family who had a penchant for burning barns.
  15. He said that one of the problems with UB's recruiting he didn't hit the trail enough and counted on his AC's to do most of the leg work.
  16. Ross Varner's twin brothers, but I may be wrong.
  17. moy, I caught that too, but didn't catch who it came from. Him or another source? I did think it was interesting that he mentioned RM felt the A-10 was a conference he could dominate like he did with Utah in the WAC....
  18. Heel, I'd forgot about Versace being Frosh coach. I remember that slug of Chicago recruits though. I think the frosh went undefeated and trounced Mizzery frosh at the Kiel. Two players I remember from that squad were a guard, Nance, who was a really slick ballhandler and a big forward from Toledo, Oh, his name is lost somewhere in the data bank, but he was a horse. I played against him a couple of times in pickup ball at WP. I remember being on a break and this guy came out of nowhere. The ball ended up about ten rows into the seats. He just grinned and said "Man, that felt good."
  19. Rammer and Cusamano (I think it's him), but Cusamano is saying right now that Biondi's spoke to him twice, Majerus has looked at tapes, and Majerus really wants the job. Good listening right now. He says Chayfetz is trying to buy an NBA team. Dick Versace is somehow involved. Chayfetz and Majerus just couldn't schedule a meeting.
  20. Very, look at the Spoon years. The guy was one of the major celebs in the city. Majerus would generate more buzz and excitement. Hell, he'd have babies named after him and get his own restaurant, Ricks Roost or Rick's Rigatoni and Ravioli Shop.
  21. I'm sorry guys, ain't buying her delivering a rousing sendoff. What would have been rousing? "We're really excited about this past year, great strides were made. And more excited about next year as we expect to land some impact players during this signing period. Brad Soderberg's our coach today and our coach of the future." If she did this, Brad would have screamed "Et Tu Cheryl" as his future was being flushed down a toilet at West Pine. If CL was in the dark as much as Brad was, I fear we will lose her in the not too distant future. I don't know her, but to not even have an indication this was in the works has got to be a major blow to her ego. How would you feel if your highest paid employee and one you had great faith in was summarily fired by your boss on an end around leaving you to find out about it after the fact?
  22. Like I said, Broy, he may not have known the names, but I'll wager he was keeping a scorecard.
  23. I think what most of us expected and knew what was needed was immediate help at the 4 and possibly another JUCO starter, either pg or another inside guy. None of us were gushing over Mitchell, he wasn't highly recruited, and Relphorde as being immediate imapct kids. Neither is a true 4. Also, we all know how much faith UB has in frosh. That was not intended as a knock on Mitchell or Relphorde. I hope they stay with us and develop into all conference types. But losing Correia, Peterson, Alexander, UB was moving down the list into plan B's and C's. Sorry, Satrap, we've been there before. I really believe this came down to the Alexander signing. Not that he alone was the greatest thing to hit SLU since the Legend, but that he was the latest in a long line of misses. That's all.
