The Wiz
Disappointing game against GM. Although painful to look at the numbers in my post game review on the SLU over GM thread are very interesting and show why and how we lost. In terms of trending , we are still at D. The numbers are starting to fade though. The season has roughly broken out like this....First part of the season...downward trend (through SDakSt) then a trending up (through the 1st VCU game) and finally a sideways pattern through yesterday. (2nd GM game) We are now at a crossroads. If we end up with a lower grade going forward ( D- ) then we will end with a thud. If we can stay at D or higher we can end on a good note. With the recent number weakening, it will not be easy to stay at D. I guess we will see what this team is made of. The St. B game gives us a microcosm of college basketball as it relates to parity. St. B is a B- team. We are a D team. On the surface not much of a matchup ....honor roll vs just passing. Yet if you look at the headline it shows St B by 5. an indication of parity. All the analysis with computers and talking heads blow up the small differences between teams into major chasms.. Make no mistakes about it , we are light years behind Ky but it is only a small step up to reach St. B and the majority of A-10 teams. A step that could be made as soon as next year with some new players, an additional year of experience, some weight room traiining etc. Bottomline ...it is not that big of a step from doom and gloom to honor roll. Now onto the game. Here is what we need to do to win...... ..................................................#s to win Off Slashline...................................45 /35 / 70 Pts................................................61 TOs...............................................12 Def FGM..............................................23 Tot Reb.........................................35 FG%...............................................40 3pt%...............................................29% Wright FG%....................................under 50% Posley...............................................14pts Ndoye...............................................8 rebs Bottomline ....The defensive set we used in the last GM of LHTM didn't work (Let's Hope They Miss) We need to get back to the basics ...avoid mistakes and focus . Play a full 40 min of bball. Many games have been lost because of a 2-3 min lapse. Let's come out and not fall behind. Play the first minutes like the last few of a close game. Show some intensity. Finish the season strong.
brownwolves
I don't think you have anything to worry about. The Bonnies are without their two best players, Jorden Gathers ( remember him ) and Jaylen Adams. The Brown Indians just can't seem to find their A game. It's like " which team will show up ". They can't play against a collapsing zone, their 3 point game is not there, they have no PG and Yousoo Ndoye can't even dunk the ball ! Hope you have more than 200 brave Billiken fans at the game. See you guys in Otterville next year - we had -28 below zone the other night - but, if you are a skier we have the BEST in the East Coast. Go Brown Indians

Go Brown Indians I noticed you beat Duq in your last game by 17...so your tale of woe doesn't quite sync with the results.

Finish the season strong. First, I was one of the few that stayed for the post game ceremony. I feel that the Seniors deserve the honor and respect for their committment and dedication to basketball and the University. Sometimes it is about more than just winning. On to the game review...... Let's see what happened.......... .............................................#'s to win.......................actual Offense .............................................................................................................................................needed to make slashline Slashline................................45 /35 / 70...................33.3 / 18.8 / 59.1.....double fail x 3.....3(3's) + 3(2's) + 3 FTs= 18pts Pts..............................................61.............................48...........................double fail TOs.............................................12.............................15...........................fail Defense FGM............................................23..............................24..........................fail Tot Reb........................................35..............................37..........................fail FG%.............................................40..............................46.2.......................fail...........3 less 2's =6pts 3pt%..............................................29..............................25..........................pass Wright FG%...............................under 50%....................70%......................double fail Posley............................................14...............................10.........................pass+ Ndoye.............................................8..................................5..........................pass+ So if we made the offensive slashline (which was kind of ave) that alone would have been enough to win . Adding an additional 6pts for D and we should have won easily by 8. Again it doesn't take spectacular numbers to win, just average , For 3/4 of the game we trailed by about 5 and then we had our lapse.. Unfortunately we are in a slump which started after the LaS game. If you look at the bottomline final paragraph of the above post we did everything we were not supposed to do.. ...."Avoid mistakes and focus" (fail) "Play a full 40 min avoid the 2-3 min lapse" (fail...the 2-3 min lapse came at around the 10 min mark where St B added a quick 10 points and it was over)...."not fall behind at the beginning" (fail ..we were quickly in the hole at the start, again) We have 2 games left (at least 2)...we need to come out with some fire especially on offense.
