He will be a Junior as far as age is concerned when he starts playing and he is more mature for his age at this point. He is going to be a very good player. I find it interesting that people on here are so quick to talk about Crews being fired or leaving but don't have any suggestions for a replacement that would take the team to the top of the A-10 again.

I spoke to Matt Neufeld at the Cardinal game last night and he told me yes, Elliot is having surgery today and he will redshirt.

I think JC is sitting Crawford and Ash because he knows what they can do and needs to see the other players and figure out where they can contribute when the games really count. Minutes in these games don't really mean a whole lot. I pay more attention to how the team is doing with the new offense and as a program are we not going to be the defensive team that we have been in the past? When JC took over, my big concern was SLU losing the reputation of being a top defensive team Nationally. Yes, I understand we are not there anymore, but it is that mind set within this staff and do we have the personel to make that happen? The Billikens have always been fine with a streaky offense because the defense had been top five nationally for a long time. Is that lost forever the longer that RM and Spoon are in our past?

Regarding Neufeld.............in my opinion we have not had a comodity like him in the middle in years. I believe the coaching staff needs to utilize him and his skill and will learn to do so. The new offense should do this if they get him the ball in the post and he is good enough around the basket to find the open man when he does not have the shot. In time the coaches will insist they get it inside to him and this will create other opportunities and weapons within the offense. He and Welmer have HIGH basketball IQ's and with maturity will make this a better team.

With his SHOT alone he will have some kind of an impact this year. If the new offense clicks he will get some back side kicks for some open looks. He is MUCH quicker and athetic that advertised.

I would agree with most of what you said and add this..........Neufeld is very quick to the bucket to either tip in or dunk a missed shot. Saw him come from 10 feet away in a blink to tip in and dunk missed shots. I spoke to Welmer for a few minutes after practice and he has a bigger frame than first thought and yes, he can easily add some muscle. He did not miss many shots and JC made a comment referring to those defending him that they need to know the person they are defending for example when a guy has NBA range (referring to EW). I only saw one practice so I don't want to make many asssumptions based on my minimul exposure to this team. I do believe they will be better.
