Gordon's opinion on the MU fiasco

It doesn't look like Jeff it too proud of his alma-mater. The article states that Floyd is considering stepping down as MU Pres. I wouldn't think that sounds too promising for MU fans.

"Praises we sing, to you our alma mater,

Praise to the white and blue.

Our hymn shall ring, in tribute strong to you,

We hail Saint Louis U."

Actually, most MU fans think it's more promising if Floyd resigns. If the checks aren't found to be anything but university stipends, or non-existent, then the NCAA would be more likely to slap us for lack of institutional control over our program. Floyd resigning would seem to be the first step towards correcting that.

Over on the C-USA talk board, the Cincy fans are having a field day. Following is a quote from one of them along with a link to Gordon's article from 2001 talking about losing Whaley to Cincy.

-------------------------------

"I remember the Mizzou fans AND Quinn Snyder trashing UC after Whaley decided to commit to the Bearcats. Snyder made comments along the lines of how his program doesn't need players like that but he'll fit in well at UC.

Who's running the dirty program again there Quinn boy? Have fun doing your guest commentator spot on the NCAA tourney broadcast again this year.

And then there's this Mizzou reporters story:

Gordon: Snyder made the right move in backing away from recruit

http://redraiders.big12.net/stories/060401...040119626.shtml

Quote:

Mizzou is rapidly becoming an elite program under Snyder. We're not saying he needs to sign only Duke-caliber kids _ how much squeaky cleanliness could Columbia take, anyway? _ but he doesn't have to follow Bob Huggins' lead, either.

Let Cincinnati continue to gamble on kids with rap sheets. Missouri doesn't have to go there, not with Snyder moving this program into an extremely high profile. There's no need to take on recruits with such glaring academic and behavior issues.

Kind of fun looking back!!!
