First post ever.

I have been reading this board for the last couple of weeks.

1st. I'll tell ou right up front I am no expert, just someone who likes to go to the games.

I don't like to lose any more than the next person.

However there seem to be a few who post to this board that would like to be running the show.

You might get the chance is you all would put up your 12 million dollars to support the school as one fine alum did.

So, to all you negative posters...get out your check books or get of the schools back and let them do their jobs.

I don't have the money..I'm a retiree who just enjoys going to the games and would love to see the billikens make the ncaa every year too.

They have come a long way from when I watched them in the old Kiel arena.

JMO

Thanks for letting me vent.

I just think that if I would have been a recruit and I looked at this board. I would have second thoughts about coming here in the "supporters" of the team where this negative about the coach.

I don't know but I would thing that the people who give large donations may have more attenion paid to their opinoins listened to more than the rants on this blog.

First off , welcome to the board.

If recruits made their college decisions based on message boards, it is quite possible no one would be in college. Almost every NCAA team, yes I said NCAA team this year this year that loses, has a board meltdown of negativity.

The right to standards and accountability are not exclusive to the wealthy, in athletics nor in society.

Accountability gets results. This is the case at big boy schools, middle of the road, or lower tier.

SLU has the ability to compete at a much higher level in men's basketball, and to bring greater success to the school on and off of the court because of it. If there is no accountability, plan, etc...it won't happen. There are winners and losers in athletics. As long as SLU wants to field a D-1 program, fair standards need to be set, goals need to be set. SLU is failing miserable to be highly competitive in the highest profile, only revenue sport on campus.

When people see stronger academic schools being successful much more often in athletics than SLU, year after year, decade after decade, some of those people question why it hasn't happened, nor will it happen soon at SLU. One can have a blind eye, and keep trucking down to the games decade after decade, or one can ask the question why are others doing it and not SLU? Why is SLU a failing in this area? There is nothing wrong with trying to get better at anything in life. That includes a men's college basketball program. I believe expectations of the majority of SLU fans fall in the lines of you doc. Let's lay off of SLU, they sure are trying hard to win...etc...if the activity did not require a winner and a loser, then the converesation would be different.

Expectations of most of this board, a big minority of SLU fandom, are not unrealistic. People don't expect Final Fours every seasons, etc...like they do at Kentucky. People would settle for a long while for just making the NCAA tourney in some years. That isn't too high of an expectation.
