He very well could choose SLU. Like I said above, I really don't know anything for sure. Just trying to share some insight. Agree with you - hopefully he chooses soon. Giles is going to take some visits and probably won't decide as soon as Tatum. If they both attend Duke it won't be a textbook package deal, but I do believe that the idea of playing together is really important to both of them and it's not just national media talk.

I think we'll see a decision this week. Possibly as soon as tomorrow. The number one priority is winning Peach Jam and I hear Jayson wants to inform the coaches of his decision so I can't say when exactly it'll happen but it seems like it will be soon. I won't act like I know what's going to happen, but based on what I've heard, I'll say this: Jayson truly loves St. Louis and he wants to help SLU, be the main attraction, and stay close to his family (his mom especially), but in the end I think the opportunity to play for a great coach and play with a great friend (Giles) will be too much. Coach K really has worked hard in developing a relationship with Tatum's mom, and even though some don't want to believe it, I promise you that playing with a friend in college is a big deal to him. Like I said, I don't know anything for sure. I don't really have an opinion or guess. Just relaying what I've been told.

Justin Tatum will certainly push for his player (Barnes) to go to a good school. However, I will say that the idea of playing with Giles is a bigger deal to Jayson Tatum than most on here originally thought. So I wonder if the idea of playing with your best friend since 5th grade would help offset that?

Interesting that SLU has 2 offers out to point guards in the Class of 2016 but Justin Tatum told me that the only reason SLU wan't offering Barnes was because they said they felt good with their point guard situation.

Based on what I've heard (wouldn't call myself an insider on this situation. Trying to keep our distance just in case), I don't think the Barnes situation is as big of a deal as it's being made out to be, but I also don't understand why SLU hasn't just made an offer. I think Barnes may be less interested in SLU than people think so it's not like if you offer, you're going to be stuck with him for sure. Gun to my head prediction - I think Tatum will end up at Duke. I will honestly say though that I think there are people on this board who could give a better prediction so I don't want anyone freaking out.

Per someone close to the Tatum recruitment "I can't tell you what will happen. Anyone who says they know is either guessing or lying. But I am absolutely stunned that SLU hasn't offered Jordan Barnes. Maybe they are waiting until a commitment, but I am definitely surprised." He also added "Don't read too much in to what he or family members have said to the media. They're doing a great job of playing this one close to the chest and keeping all relationships open"

At the moment, we will not be speaking to recruits. We talked to SLU compliance and while they don't feel like we're breaking any rules (or if we were, the NCAA wouldn't do anything), they'd like for us to receive some kind of journalist certification before we speak to any more recruits because technically fans are not allowed to speak to recruits. Fans are also not allowed to tag recruits in tweets, retweet any tweet that a recruit is tagged in, or tag any family members of recruits in tweets. Obviously none of that is enforced and probably can't even be enforced as it would be impossible to prove that @whoever is actually a fan of the school, but until we go through this process (I'm incredibly busy so it could be a while), I wouldn't expect a ton of info from us.

To clarify: The reason we tweeted about it is because I know it's common thought among fans. Tatum is just doing this as a favor. This Duke person was convinced of it. So I tweeted about it and then added my own thoughts about how this isn't some "favor". All he's doing is wasting people's time. I have no info on this situation. For Da Love seems to be the most knowledgeable so I'll defer to him.

Yes SLU, Creighton, and Indiana have had the most contact. The only other thing of note that he said is that he'd like to play the 2 in college and is working on developing his outside game.

First of all, I doubt this is true. But...I kind of wonder if it would work out this way. Jayson tells the staff so that the staff can use it as recruiting material throughout the summer, but Jayson waits until after Peach Jam to assure as much attention as possible on the Eagles and stuff. Not that they need it though.
