Moytoy I didn't see this post until now I didn't ignore it. My issue has always been the posts that bemoan a lack of talent on this team. That, to me, just doesn't add up. Can you shoot holes in this roster? Of course you can, but at this level you can shoot holes in any roster. Talent level is relative to the talent of your opponent and I think this team has enough talent to compete against the teams it plays. For sure against a team like GW. As I have pointed out ad nauseum they did it last year so what the heck is going on this year? Tonight ,in my eyes, was a step forward. Majerus can be a great coach but he needs to shut up about a lack of talent and start coaching.

I'm saying that Iowa's talent level sucks, the coach isn't complaining and it showed some results tonight. Hey I don't have a problem with SLU's effort or Coach Majerus' effort tonight. The team came back from a devastating loss and almost won against a very good team. Hopefully Coach shuts up and keeps coaching and the team continues to compete. Maybe they can salvage the season. There is no reason they can't compete in the A-10. That is my point.

SLU scored 60 in 23 out of 33 games last year Big Bill Fan. Do you define rare as roughly 3 out of 4 games?

Where did I say beating Michigan State was the norm? Iowa is not a good team. They were worse than the Billikens last year and lost one player to the NBA and lost another who is a great player at Tennessee(Tyler Smith). The group that is left is pretty much a rag tag bunch and most of them wouldn't belong in the A-10 let alone the Big Ten. Liddell and Lisch would be the best players on that team. So they have lost some tough games but they have also won at UNI and they beat Michigan State tonight. Not once has Todd Lickliter complained about his roster. And his players, though overmatched, have played hard and played confident. And tonight they beat the #6 team in the country.

Do me a favor Big Bill Fan. Check out the box score for Iowa's win over Michigan State tonight, the #6 team in the country. Iowa is a team that has a new coach, lost it's top 2 scorers (by far), yet they beat Michigan State tonight. They have no inside player to speak of. They have a roster that is littered with players that do not belong in the Big Ten. But Todd Lickliter has never complained, never called his players step-children, he just keeps coaching. And guess what it paid off tonight. Having dominating bigs, an athletic bench and a saavy point gaurd are luxuries for most teams in Division 1 basketball today. Having a coach who doesn't call his players step children and complain about his roster should not be a luxury.

No more than last year chief and they won 20 games. LOL winning 15 this year.

Skip so your on record as being happy with how things are going this year and not having a problem with Ian's play last year? Are you a boss anywhere and if so do you have any openings? I'd love to work for you you sound very understanding.

I'm not saying this team has talent it has been proven. How did they only score 20 points? Heck if I know. Liddell and Lisch almost averaged 20 points themselves last year so you can't say it's a lack of talent or ability. Ask the coaches.

I am amazed at the amount of revisionist history and group think that is happening on this board regarding this team. Something is seriously wrong and it seems the main thing people point to is a lack of talent and ability on this team. Except it makes no sense. The most stunning piece of revisionist history is the value that is put on IV last year. It seems to be forgotten what a inconsistent, foul prone, turnover prone, enigma he was last year. This team at many times played well and won games in spite of IV and without him playing many minutes or producing. IV was absolutely ripped on this board last year. Now all of a sudden he was the main guy and this team is completely lacking in talent without him. Here are some facts about last year: -The top four players in minutes last year were Liddell, Lisch, Meyer and Polk. IV only played 28 minutes per game -Liddell and Lisch were the leading scorers last year averaging 15 points per game. IV averaged only 12. -IV led the team in personal fouls and was second on the team in turnovers despite playing less minutes. This team has talent and ability and should be a decent team. The problem is that every player that played regularly last year has gone backwards. In Liddell's case his regression in points and rebounds has been huge. You can't blame it on him having to play without IV as these guys had to play without IV a lot last year and still produced. This is not to defend Soderberg's recruiting. After this year the cupboard was going to be empty besides Lisch and Liddell. But there are 4 seniors on this team that are experienced serviceable role players and 2 juniors who are very good experienced players. There team should be improved over last year and many on this board thought that at the beginning of the year. But a couple of months later history has been revised.

Your calling me slow? This isn't just bad shooting and low scoring. This is unheard of. This is something that has never happened before not just at SLU but in any Division 1 game since the shot clock went in. Most of the examples you brought up are ridiculous they were against much tougher competition and the result was not nearly as bad as this one. SLU even won some of those games!! Just admit it was a ridiculous post and we can move on. It's ok.

Are you freaking serious? SLU just set a NCAA record for lack of points in a game since the shot clock and you dig up this crap? THEY SCORED 20 POINTS!!! AGAINST A TERRIBLE TEAM!!! You sir are the one without a clue.

That is a very good article and exactly what I am talking about. That type of stuff from a head coach is absolutely poison to a team. For him to make those kind of comments after his team has just set a record for lack of scoring against a bad GW team is beyond belief.

No I don't believe the players are tanking I just don't think they have the attitude or commitment they need to compete at this level. It doesn't take much to drag a team like this down.

He's the leader of the team and he is running around telling people that these aren't his players. Guess what Rick you took the job and they are your players. The players aren't playing for him and with his negative attitude towards them who can blame them?

I realize your not a big fan of facts but SLU was 1-2 in 1 point games last year. Lucky bounce on one shot or not they deserved to win at least one of those games. That isn't luck.
