  1. Nevermind, why be a child like Also receiving votes. Glad we had a good game today. Hope this game continues every year. Win every game you have the rest of the season and hopefully we can have a rematch in the Sweet 16. >You have the worst facilities in America > >You have the worst public address announcer in America > >You're little "timeout -- where? in the arena -- oh.." is a >rip-off of the Chicago Bears...you aren't that far down >I-57...I am writing the Halas family a letter as we speak so >they can copyright that and sue your fu*king asses. I hate >the Bears, but having to listen to that all day pissed me >off almost as much as the play of Ian Voyoukas. > >You have a barbershop quartet for a band. They are awful. > >I had to wait three hours to post this because I couldn't >get wi-fi in Carbondale, which I thought was the information >technology center of the universe..apparently I must have >read the wrong pamphlet at the United terminal at Carbondale >International Airport and Nail Care salon (permission >granted by Ron White, Inc.)...rednecks.
  2. Not in a long time. Remember that the only reason UNC is coming to SLU is because of Hansbourgh (sp?). No way they travel to play SLU any other way.
  3. >SLU 71 >SIU 67 I won't guarantee a win by SIU but I will say that there is no way SLU scores 71 on the Salukis. SIU 63 SLU 56
  4. Good to see we can have some fun. I really hope for a great game on Saturday. Should be a lot of fun.
  5. 2nd favorite team to SIU. I came here and hoping to discuss the game and I just was responding to other posts having some fun. If they never played SIU I would hope that the Bills never lose a game.
  6. This is fun. If you are from the STL area my guess is you come from either South/Jefferson County and when your aren't spewing your garbage here your are busy cruising in your bitchin Z28 Camaro hoping to pick up some 16 year old meth addict with 2 children who "loves" your car. I would rather be from Carbondale.
  7. Braves are really scary this year. Young but when they are shooting well they could beat any team in the country. Man can they score. Wish a little of that would come SIU's way. Did you see last nights score. 50-36 SIU.
  8. They are, not as good as 5 straight trips to the NCAA tourney. Don't worry I am sure another Larry Hughes will come along sometime in the next 10 years and SLU can go back there as well.:-)
  9. If you were refering to me, I live in STL and am an Alumni of SLU. I just grew up as a season ticket holder to SIU games. Actually SIU can't wait for those schools because they won't be 100+ RPI at the end of the year like SLU. They help the schedule, not hurt it. :7 Can't wait for Saturday.
  10. Nope, SLU is not in the Valley. Fun to play a close regional game. I hope it continues but it can never be as good as the games with Creighton, WSU, Missouri State or any other Valley team.
  11. Word, just trying to say don't label him a thug or criminal. Lacking a little common sense maybe but not a thug.
  12. He got the DUI last March after the season was over. He was suspended the 1st 3 games this year for that.
  13. I know he has been arrested twice. The first one getting a 1 game suspension and the 2nd for the DUI getting a 3 game suspension. Can you refresh me as to what and when the 3rd suspension was for. Not talking smack, I don't remember it.
  14. >if tatum had only been suspended once, you got a point. >everyone has made mistakes. but he just needs one more to >average once a year during his siu career. 2 suspensions in 4 years averages out to 1 per year. Now I remember why I didn't major in math, I'm no good at it. :7
  15. >Let's see how much smack you are talking after Bills thump >you in that oversized high school gym you call a home. Nice >wood bleachers! Make sure you don't hit my car with your >tractor when you park for the game. Nevermind, no need to start this.
  16. >I'd point out that your were our ho' last year but I don't >want to lower the level of discourse any further. Oh >well....... OK, you beat us last year. I don't normally talk smack on here as I am a fan of both schools however, 1 DUI does not make the team a bunch of criminals that is why I responded the way I did. If you review the limited number of posts I have made here you would see I am normally quite tame. The fact is Tatum screwed up, he wouldn't deny that. He is however a first team all MVC Scholar Athlete who is the son of a college professor and the supervisor of the Jefferson City public schools. Not the criminal you make him out to be. If we want to start making assumptions about people I could probably come up with a few about Polk and his attending Vashon or I could say something about Liddell and being from East St. Louis. I won't because I like SLU and know that these 2 are better than that. I am driving down from STL for the game and hope it is a really great game between 2 good teams but I am hoping for an SIU win. Only game of the year I will root against my former school.
  17. >Crime is high enough in St. Louis already. We don't need >the group of criminals SIU-C calls a team to make it worse. > >http://thesouthern.com/articles/2006/03/28...ts/10006012.txt Instead you can cross your fingers and hope for an invite to the NIT.
  18. SIU has been doing this for 2 years, this being the 3rd. It is a pretty good service. I agree $10 is steep but it is pretty good quality.
  19. I'm sure thats why many athletes don't go to these schools. I'm just saying, that if I was an above average athlete, not a great one I would want a degree from say Harvard, Yale or another elite academic institution over say Missouri or some other major conference school. If I was good enough to go pro in my respective sport I would choose the school where I would get the most exposure. If I am going pro my degree would be secondary. But we know that only like 1% of college athletes get to play pro ball. I am willing to make an educated guess that someone who gets a degree from an Ivy league school will see better lifetime earnings than someone with a degree from Missouri or any similar school. Your statement about getting in a fight every weekend just makes me think you couldn't have gotten into an Ivy League school anyway. I could be wrong but that is what I read into your post. Same goes for the athletes you refer to. Your staement is just as bad as someone saying that they wouldn't go to a Southern California university because there are too many Mexicans.
  20. I hope I can offer some objective reasoning. I was born and raised just outside of Carbondale and am a life long Saluki fan. I am also an alumni of SLU. ----- Not every division 1 athlete is going to play pro ball. Some are very happy to be receiving a free ride to school. I would say this would have to depnd on what the athlete wants to do once he is finished with school. If you want a degree in business or are smart enough to be pre-med as well as an athlete you should choose SLU. If your desire is to get into the field of mass communications or engineering you should probably choose SIU. It all depends on what degree you want. Both schools have programs that are better than the others. SLU as a whole has a better reputation than SIU but SIU does have some programs that SLU cannot compete with. This really make's me wonder about Matt Shaw. Maybe he just wanted to stay close to home (I'm glad he did as an SIU fan). I believe he had an offer on the table from Stanford as well. I had academic scholarship offers from both SLU and SIU coming out of high school. I would have dropped either for the chance at a free ride at Stanford. Maybe I think differently than most but I have never understood why the Ivy League doesn't have some of the best athletics in the nation. If I was a stud athlete I would choose the best school in the country. This is just my humble opinion. There could be many reasons why someone would choose either program over the other. If this long rant doesn't make much sense, I apologize.
  21. >I was under the impression that there was something of >actual substance that determined if a conference was or was >not a major conference and not just based on perception. Unfortunately mid-major is all about perception. Is Baylor any more of a major basketball team than SLU? Is Vanderbilt more major than SIU? No, neither of these teams is any good compared to SLU and SIU but they have the right conference affiliation. It's all about perception.
  22. First off since this is my first post let me say that I am and always will be a Southern Illinois fan. I am however an allumni of SLU and love following the team still so don't hate me. I think what defines a mid major conference is simply, does your conference consistantly have someone who is projected as a national title contender (ie ACC, Big East, Big 12, SEC, Big 10, PAC 10). If you cannot consistantly say that then your conference is mid major. I don't mean that someone from your conference cannot contend for a national title, just that it doesn't happen every year. This is just may opinion curious as to other people's views.
