Get him ...... fits fine if SLU uses 2 as centers and 2 as big forwards or stretch 4's.  Sick of seeing teams starting 2 versatile bigs against SLU and overwhelming them with size.

agree, if momo and vice can be that stretch 4-5,

  2. the constant beating of the dead horse is the real embarrassment. billikenblue did nothing more than rehash what has been said over and over again. fire ford, ford cant coach etc. it is getting old, seeing it. i think bbf is the kind of guy that enjoys living in your head and getting you riled up. ignore him, i have a lot the horse beaters on ignore

The problem with this is why would Mack, Kelsey, and Devries take the SLU job when they will be getting offers from power conference schools.  We all think that these guys are available to SLU, but they are really not.  if those guys are going to leave their current school, it will be to make a big leap, not a small one, from where they currently are.  The up and coming type guys that are available to SLU are guys most of this board would look at and say "Why did we hire this guy?"  Could turn out just fine, but we probably wouldn't be happy at first.

the up and comer kim english types have a bit of success and move to the power five and take the best players with them. then you start over again

"I helped put Jordan Goodwin into the NBA - a tough blue collar player who was willing to work, also did it previously with Marcus Smart, I helped develop Yuri Collins (not a national recruit) into a PG who led the country in assists two years in a row and was a Cousy Award finalist and a player good enough that a program like TN was willing to throw a bunch of money at (before you scoff, both Medlay and the Hunter kid each mentioned Yuri), helped developed Gibby into a more well rounded player, had some success with some P6 transfers Bess, Foreman, Okoro, Pickett, success with local recruits, juco recruits, grad transfers (Isabell) and East Coast recruits. Inherited a dumpster fire, got the team in the Big Dance in year 3, and two Top 50 teams the following two seasons. With free agency, we can turn it around quicker, I have playing time and NIL money to offer."

Before a few folks potentially fly off the handle, I have been on the record as saying Ford is rightfully on the hot seat, but I think some very real bad luck (not excuses) is why he does not have at least a couple of more NCAA Tourney bids to his credit. How I think he saves his job? Do exactly what he did when he started here - land quality transfers Bess, Foreman, Henriquez, Graves (this time they would be immediately eligible) then follow it up in the fall landing a couple of impact high school players like he did when he got French and Goodwin. That's a tall order, but he has done it before.

i would guess he will say this very thing, last five seasons have won nearly 70% of the games and have been competitive in the league, i am looking forward to next year

the best thing ford has going for him imo is that he now longer is married to yuri collins.   collins was a good point guard.   probably one of the 3 or 4 best in billiken history.  but somehow it was believed he was the end all of the team this season.   he had moments where he lived up to it, but the majority of the time when he tried to do more than just be a very good point guard, he failed and took the team down.   i believe it cost us at least 5 games.

i would not have wanted to play this past season without yuri collins.   however i wish Ford had stepped up and created a different focus on each game and not tried to make him the man that the game depended on and just had him play point guard.

i believe next year will be better even though it appears the well is dry.  while i have never been a fan of Ford's practice and game coachng as well as player development, i still believe he is the best recruiter the billikens have ever had and am hoping that the money for NiL will be sufficient to find success bringing in maybe 3 starters to meld with Young Hughes and one of the other returnees to put a team on the floor as good as last year talentwise and hopefully a better "team" than last year.

i believe the well might not be as dry as one thinks, the right transfer with, hughes, parker, will be solid backcourt. hargroves, thames maybe add a forward to rebound . momo, frosh and a big. might be a good roster

Restricted like an endowed professorship. General endowment  monies don’t go to athletics . Now if the athletic department wants to set up an endowment that’s a different animal. See T Bone Pickett at Oklahoma .

i knew of a women that endowed a basketball scholly many years ago, i would assume it was and still is restricted

I think one problem is that a majority of the the fan base still consider a 20 win season an accomplishment.

May and Pestello realize this and they can use 20 wins to rally a large part of the fan base even though in todays game 20 wins doesn’t mean much.

you are correct it doesnt mean as much but still puts you in top third, bulk of 20 wins go to p6 that fatten the win total with cupcakes, 20 wins is still not to be scoffed at

    1. We get a better coach, who can recruit and actually coach. 2. We make more than 1 NCAA in last 9 seasons. There is nothing to promote for next season. If you think Travis Ford is going to build a super team with transfers, you are delusional. At this point I don’t care if you defend the guy. I’ll save this post and a year from now when they can afford his buyout and he’s fired then you can defend Travis Ford. I hope I’m wrong and we do great next year, I really do but I’m not seeing it. It bums me out bc I love going to games and watching good basketball. Again I don’t care who is AD or coach, I just want us to win!

since you didnt answer my question i wont answer yours, your bitching wont get ford fired and it certainly wont help for next year  i guess you are cbfan

How do you honestly defend Ford the last 7 seasons? Please tell me 3 reasons why Travis Ford is the man for this job?

i can honestly defend ford, but first i ask you tell explain what your constant bitching is going to do to promote the billikens next season? give me 2 reasons how it is helpful and i will give you my 3 reasons?

How is he not a fan?! Just because you point out the obvious doesn’t mean you are a hater. I don’t know Chris May or Travis Ford personally so I don’t “hate” them. What I do hate is delusional thinking that these guys can turn this around in year 8! Just bc his opinion differs doesn’t mean he’s a troll or a hater. May and Ford are only still at SLU bc they can’t go anywhere else. Nobody wants them. When you are Travis Ford and a coach you actually have owned in the A10 (not many of those) gets a Big East job over you, you’ve got to look at yourself in the mirror. Again it’s because nobody else wants him but it’s good enough for slu. That’s the frustrations of some fans. Chris May and Travis Ford are the epitome of mediocre. Rinse and repeat next season of mbb.

anti ford guys get to define mediocre, disaster, horrible and bad, bbf defines hater. is cbfan back with a different name?

  11. how was it that the billikens ever won even a single game, ford cant construct a roster, doesnt listen to his asst coaches, never uses a proper screen, uses the weave , allows local players to go to other schools, i could go on and on with his flaws. likely will never win a game going forward. what a pathetic coach. i could have used blue font but you get it. last five years won nearly 70% of the games. ignore feature will be used liberally going forward

  12. Is the predominant reason for choosing a school come down to a few games at the end of the year? academics, location, conference are secondary to an appearance in the tournament? french and goodwin didnt choose slu for their long history of ncaa appearances, so what was the reason?  but we know kalkbrenner didnt go to slu because of lack of tournament appearances. maybe other factors are involved
