  1. From CollegeChalktalk "CCT — Are there any imminent plans for conference membership changes? Saint Louis is a team that comes to mind. Commissioner McGlade – Well, I would only say to you that hopefully there are no changes in our membership makeup. Two big things when you come into a position in a conference office as a commissioner are that you want to preserve your conference membership and you want to protect your conference revenue distribution and championship opportunities. They are things that are always on my radar and I would hope that we do not have any movement in that regard. Saint Louis is a great university and a great member of this conference. Hopefully we are going to stay strong together as a league and get better as we move forward. "
  2. X and UD have played around 137 times over an 85 year or so history (i'm not sure how up to date i am). They are a definite rivalry. There's a split on how much the rivalry really matters. You're either for it or against it. There is a segment of the xavier fan population that considers the season a good year as long as we beat UD. I'm not in the segment.
  3. Count me as one Xavier fan who would rather play SLU every year in a home and home instead of UD. The only way we get back to that is if the conference splits off into divisions.
  4. Apparently, Crawford is asking for immediate eligibility too. I'm not hopeful (I don't think any of the former IU players will get a pass). I also have no idea where all of the guards are going to play. I'm not complaining though.
  5. That's what i guessed. There's really no reason why SLU, UD, and X don't play home and home. I wish the A-10 would go back to East and West Divisions.
  6. Hopefully you'll get a home and home with at least UD. Is that a manageable trip from St. Louis? While not convenient, it's not really much different than going to cincy in my mind.
  7. So he's not going to support SLU anymore (something he did long before picking his new seats) because he didn't get the seats he wanted? Wow.
  8. Dayton, Charlotte, and Fordham I'm upset that we can't seem to get a home and home between X and SLU. Here's X's A-10 tilt: Xavier, the 2007-08 A-10 Regular Season Champ, will play home and away series against Charlotte, Dayton and Fordham. The home slate includes match ups against George Washington, La Salle, Massachusetts, Saint Louis and Temple. The Musketeers will travel to Duquesne, Rhode Island, Richmond, Saint Bonaventure and Saint Joseph’s. So i guess i don't get to see the new building this year. I was looking forward to the trip to SLU.
  9. True. Though Cincy is two hours away from Central Indiana on up.
  10. The only thing i know about St. Francis (Pa) is that they are one of the schools available when you start a "legacy" in College Hoops 2k8. Might be time to consider an assistant coaching gig. Ohio St. is hiring.
  11. Why do you think SLU hasn't been able to infiltrate the state of Indiana for recruits like other schools? I would think with Majerus' connection to the state, that there would be some interest. It seems like Matta (and then Miller) established some roots for X (and OSU). Thoughts?
  12. "The 6-foot-10, 270-pound Bailey has played in just nine games in two years, averaging 1.1 points and 0.9 rebounds He has two blocked shots and one steal. He played his high school ball at Passaic County Tech in Wayne, N.J. and then prepped at The Patterson (N.C.) School." Looks like Kellog has his first "get' from Memphis. I've notice many of the A-10 schools are starting to put some size on their rosters.
  13. I do wonder if I'll be able to get a good seat at the new stadium as a visiting fan. I typically don't get my tickets through the allotment that goes to Xavier. That's why I've been watching the seating threads to see how that plays out.
  14. Yes I am . I also always try to make it over to your place for the game in St. Louis. The A-10 ought to have X and SLU play a home and home every year. There is NO reason not to.
  15. As much as i enjoyed the seat selection (as an outsider), I thought I'd throw a little basketball into the discussion.
  16. I don't know how many of you go to http://collegechalktalk.com/, but there was article about SLU posted there on Friday. The article reviews some benchmark statistics for the Billikens and talks about the differences between the Soderberg and Majerus way of basketball.
  17. Yeah... the Duq board seems to think they've turned the corner. Of course if you go to that board at this time of year every year, they always seem to feel that way.
  18. As the originator of the post over at XH, I put St. Louis in only because there is a small contigency of fans who feel it's too far west to be in the A-10. That line of thought only works in my mind if Xavier and UD are also "too far west". I was just throwing some options out there.
  19. If it makes you feel even better.. the one poster who voted for SLU has a habit of just throwing his vote away. I only put SLU in the poll to begin with because I wanted some choices that weren't A-10 old guard. I personally love having SLU in the A-10 and enjoy coming to the X-SLU game in St. Louis.
  20. Correct: 03/01/08 BONA 70 SLU 50 01/03/07 SLU 69 BONA 74 01/03/06 BONA 58 SLU 60 11/30/02 BONA 54 SLU 56 01/03/01 BONA 63 SLU 76
  21. If we're going to start kicking teams from the conference, Fordham should be at the top of any list of schools to bid farewell too. While the Bonnies have been horrible as of late (due to NCAA probation back in the early part of the decade), Fordham has been worse in my opinion.
  22. I have a hard time believing that the old guard of the conference will want to move that far west with any new members to get two games their fans won't come to the arena to see. The philly five could care less about playing Creighton or Bradley.
  23. Or they may be in danger of losing their football affiliation?
