  1. -posting for context on the StL stadium

Austin, Texas — General contractor Austin Commercial has completed Q2 Stadium, a 20,500-seat soccer stadium for Austin FC, the city’s new Major League Soccer team. The Austin City Council originally approved the development of the stadium, which is situated on a 24-acre site on the city’s north side, in August 2018. Designed by Gensler and owned by Precourt Sports Ventures, the stadium features an outdoor amphitheater and stage for live music, a beer hall with local food and beverage options, large video screens for parties and retail merchandise stores

Quion Williams - SF, 6-5, 185 - Mansfield, TX (Legacy) - AAU: Southern Assault (Adidas) - Twitter: @williams_quion
Offers: Saint Louis, Texas Tech, TCU, Texas A&M, Houston, Southeast Missouri, Cleveland State, Troy, Oral Roberts, Texas-Rio Grande Valley.

Interest: Creighton, Butler, Illinois, Minnesota, Penn State, Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Auburn, Arkansas, Georgia, Oregon, Arizona State, Utah, SMU, Tulsa, East Carolina, Wyoming, Gonzaga, Cornell, Northern Iowa, Murray State, North Texas, Louisiana Tech, Northern Illinois, Youngstown State, Sam Houston State, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Lamar, Texas-Arlington, Georgia State, Central Arkansas, Texas State, Arkansas State, Iona, Montana State, Radford, Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

Latest News: Williams received an offer from SLU. (6/16/21)

Scouting Report: Williams is a tough, gritty, physical, athletic wing with an expanding skill set. He's a relentless defender. He's got a long, strong frame and excellent body control. He finishes hard through contact. He is from Jonesboro, Arkansas but transferred to Legacy HS in Mansfield, Texas before his junior year.

-a lot to like but interesting that for a SF shooting is not specifically listed but I guess is part of 'expanding skill set'

SLU has added Dayton transfer Katie Houck. She started all 14 games for Dayton as a Freshman this past season.

Converted to center back at SLSG at the prep and club level. Originally committed early to Oklahoma until their coaching change her Senior year of high school. Switched to Dayton.

Excellent in the air both offensively and defensively. No nonsense cerebral player. Good body positioning physically, good spacing. Her dad is the long time boys and girls coach at Belleville West. She played at Freeburg.

She assisted on a couple of goals vs SLU this year. She was named to the A-10 all Rookie Team as a Freshman.

-it seems a no-brainer to accept an All Rookie selection, even if from SVU, the competition for minutes should be intense, great job Coach Katie and Staff

  4. -I looked at Homefield's site to find schools I thought might have similar reach to ours, Detroit Mercy has one t-shirt listed while  Winthrop has five t-shirts and one hoodie but one shirt and the hoodie have 'The Campus of Champions' which I would think would lead to a natural 'Where Winners Migrate' option for SLU

Self is dirty. He's not going to Duke. I know many on here disagree but I'm not sure he lasts at Kansas.

    -is Duke clean?

-I would enjoy Duke, UNC, KU, UK, IU all coming down in stature and remain down, probably some others I could add to that list (like the rest of the B10)

Yep. One thing to remember and keep in mind, is to not get caught up in recruiting rankings. They have a value but they are also flawed sometimes.

What you want are good (enough) players that can be developed into great players and a great team.

There are many examples of players under performing or over performing their recruiting rankings. There is value to recruiting rankings, and it serves a purpose. You definitely want to be competitive with other programs for the best recruits, in order to be successful. But it’s a mix.

SLU has had examples. Hannah Friedrich, SLU’s best offensive player this past season didn’t play at the highest profile club team or high school locally. She did just fine. Alex Loera, an All American at Santa Clara, was named best defensive player of the College Cup Final Four. She was a good solid recruit but not at the levels of some others. I could name a lot of examples. Shields has a pretty good understanding of which players can play at the highest levels. She isn’t going to get all of them. But I think SLU has reached the point where expectations are league dominance, and top 25 or better teams annually.

-I wish all of our teams matched the success these Ladies are having and are now expected to have

-Wesley Cardet signed with Samford. Huge get for them. He spent most of his HS career as a top-100 recruit with offers from every major conference. There will be more guys like this in 2021, who wind up going a couple levels lower than expected. His teammate A.J. Neal - still unsigned - could be another.

-cool, I hope this means with the talent cascade come March there are a couple 16's that beat 1's and 15's over 2's, especially if it is the correct 1's and 2's that get beat
