  1. http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/sports/st...59?OpenDocument and more on future recruits.... "We'll keep our ears open, but nothing is pending," Soderberg said. "I really was hoping to get him. I don't have a plan B. That's not totally unusual. We've gotten good players in the past in the summer, but it's not ideal." Man, if we put all our hopes on Stemmy without a fallback option, I really am quite disappointed in Brad and Co.
  2. http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/sports/st...F3?OpenDocument The most discouraging part.... "The school has two more scholarships to offer, but coach Brad Soderberg said the school didn’t have other recruits standing by in case the Billikens didn’t get Stemler." OUCH!
  3. IF and only if LS get signed, then with OI and AK, JJ doesn't sniff more than 10 min a game next year, and that would be lucky.
  4. Well, if Stemler is here then it will be: IV, TL, KL, LS, OI/AK. If Stemler doesn't show then it will look something like this: IV, TL, KL, LM/other JUCO, OI/AK
  5. actually we are gonna need more than that with all the guys on every team in the PHL, especially those from Vashon that don't get into the games to showcase their potential and super athleticism.
  6. Still, the point remains, that if we were still in CUSA, having to play Tulane, UAB and the like in baseball, then we would still be getting our asses handed to us. Overall, the increased competition for all of SLU's sports has come from the move.
  7. Face it Roy, V is just really, REALLY excited about local HS hoops. The exclamation point at the top of his first post in the subject line proves it. What a great resource to have here at our disposal to keep tabs on every JV player that logs a single minute in the PHL and that he would/could be useful to SLU. LOCK UP THE BORDERS!!! LET NO LOCAL PLAYER LEAVE!
  8. a good kick to the junk would be more pleasurable than putting up with V's antics.
  9. problem with that is that Angres Thorpe is already coaching the big men in practice everyday. Im not sure what Grunk's responsibility is but since coach Beane left, don't we need another guard coach?
  10. are you suggesting the Bob Huggins art of coach selection?
  11. They are buzzing about it here in Philly, crosstown move and all.
  12. No, not yet at this point. We should concentrate on what we have started on....the STL area. At this point in time MU has more pull in KC than we do, most KC school kids have probably never even heard of SLU. That being said, I do not think that we should stop recruiting state wide. I DO however protest to your thought that we should automatically consider ourselves as contenders for any in state kid. By your logic we were always in the running for Tyler H. Yeah, almost nailed him.....
  13. I understand that point, but if the kid was any good at all, I would have to think that he would consider his options, transfer to a school that wanted him, sit out a year and improve his personal status. Seems more logical than going to the barren wasteland that is DII college basketball.
  14. >He didnt like the school and with not being a big name, and >no better offers on the table he chose to return home. Ever wonder why he didn't have any better offers? HMMM?
  15. >Do you have a link? And if that's true, shouldn't we have >been able to lure him to our campus. Why the hell would we want a kid transfering down to DII? The object is to get better, not get some retreads from another program worse than ours that is taking a step back. Perhaps you should think a little bit once and a while huh?
  16. thanks for the update...would really be nice to get this guy locked up
  17. he just doesn't get it....it is like beating your head against a concrete wall....
  18. Ok, then would it be feasible to believe that you no real knowledge of how much of a "super athlete" he is at WIU like you alluded to earlier?
  19. In total agreement with all you said and will try to adopt more of your zen. By the way, I think V's unwillingness to answer the above stated question for the last couple of days says more than words could ever speak.
  20. perhaps i am being a bit more optimistic than most, but yes, i do expect Obi to do well next year and yes I do expect one of our incoming recruits...whoever it is, to perform well. Perhaps misplaced optimism.
  21. "Taylor is not done, and is a 6'7 super-athlete that might have helped" "no more attacks from my end. But I've got to question some of the tie-ins you're making here. You said "Taylor is a 6'7" super athlete." And I don't know the WIU situation either but to me, a 6'7" super athlete has got to do more than 1.7 ppg and get more then 7 mintues a game with a 7 and 21 ballclub. In the Mid-Continent. It woudl seem to me that the kid isn't beating out the competitiono nhis own team, let alone the rest of the conference. And on a 7 and 21 ballclub. That would be my tie-in and we can agree to disagree." My beef lies in the fact that V is always touting his boys and saying what stud ball players they are as he did in this case with the above "super" athlete comment. that being said, how can one determine such a thing, if one has never watched them play against college competition and state that he had the right for more minutes at WIU? Taj called him on it as well in the second above statement and he skirted around the issue there also, and im glad Taj did this as I know that he has also been voicing his frustration, sometimes a little harshly. Not only did V not respond to the question, he didn't respond at all to Taj proving him wrong. This is only one small example but i believe that it can be expanded to V's overall presence here on the board. Not only the constant offering of suggestions about players that have no business playing for any D1 teams, but touting that SLU coaching staff have made mistakes on not taking them. Again, if he starts backing up his statements with a little fact and not so much rhetoric, then I will shut up.
  22. Last chance....you dodged the question again....all that was good and fine. that was high school. DID YOU EVER SEE HIM PLAY LAST YEAR FOR WIU??? If you are going to continue to dodge the question and not provide proof to back-up your claims on this kid, I am going to have to assume that other things you have said in the past about him and others to be questionable as well. I would not take this lightly as your reputation and credibility are at stake here on this board. I will be patiently wiating your answer.
  23. All I am saying is that going from zero legitimate candidates to play power forward (JJ doesn't even count anymore) to 3 guys that maybe able to play the position and do it well (Obi, Walls, and Knollmeyer...if we get them) has to be considered an upgrade and plus.
