  1. I personally think it's a manufactured storyline. It's not a historical rivalry so i'm not outraged when it doesn't happen. It'd be a lot of fun for sure.
  2. You really can be, contrary to the beliefs of posters here. I'm a much bigger Mizzou fan because it's my alma mater but I grew up watching the Billikens so I'm a fan of them as well. (cue all the posts telling me this can't possibly be true)
  3. If I had to guess it means nothing since Alden makes that decision and has consistently decided one way for over a decade.
  4. Also being forced to sell a team you bought for 12 million dollars that is now worth close to a billion is a really rough punishment.
  5. I think you're right actually. Man what a favor they did us.
  6. For what it's worth I agree with you. 3.2 Million a year would be the 7th highest salary in college basketball. Not worth it.
  7. I have a feeling 3.2 million a year might have made him consider it but Katz was saying Alden wouldn't pay someone more than Pinkel.
  8. He's getting 1.7 million for 7 years, which is less than he was making at Mizzou, but presumably 6 more years of money than he would have gotten from Mizzou. Anderson is making 1.1 million guaranteed with incentives that can push it to around 2 million.
  9. http://www.kansascity.com/2014/04/28/4987531/missouri-curators-meet-by-teleconference.html "Wichita State coach Gregg Marshall also was contacted about the job. His agent said Monday that Marshall met with Alden and “was very impressed with Mike’s vision and leadership and with the potential of the Missouri basketball program” but that the timing was off to even consider leaving the Shockers." 10. Certainly if you wanted to get a job before you got fired in a year.
  11. Okay but as I referenced, a few fans throwing names at the wall doesn't mean "delusional fanbase." Missouri is an attractive job. It's not the MOST attractive job but Sports Illustrated rated it the best job to open up this year. You don't have to agree with that (and I'm not even necessarily saying I do) but while not being a destination job it can draw interest from a lot of coaches. If Gregg Marshall was willing to meet with Alden to talk about the position (which he did), I think that speaks to the attractiveness of the job itself, regardless of him not taking it.
  12. The fact that no one took Bobby Knight seriously doesn't take away from the fact that a couple "delusional" fans posted about it. The vast majority of talk in any Mizzou forum centered on Kim Anderson, Ben Howland, and Gregg Marshall as an admitted longshot by most people. How is that delusional?
  13. You're right. It's not surprising. Not for the reason you think.
  14. True but I remember a thread before Crews officially got the job that named Howland, Tubby Smith, and Bobby Knight as potential replacements for RM. I'm not trying to say everyone on this board shoots for the moon, just that every "potential new coach" period on internet fan boards includes a little bit of delusion.
  15. A- That's a big If B- No telling if Anderson has the chops to actually have a big 2015 class.
  16. I can't believe this board doesn't call you out more often for your indefensible positions.
  17. At the end of your stream of consciousness rambling I don't feel as though I learned anything new.
  18. I think it would have taken a little over 3 million to get him to leave WSU. I wouldn't be surprised to see him leave WSU in the next year or two even if it's not a blue blood opening so long as it's a good fit. I was just quoting his agent by the way, not my intuition. His agent brought up the son in high school part.
  19. I guess you haven't been on the internet during a coaching search before? Every fan base shoots for the moon with speculation, including this board in the past.
  20. It wasn't about wanting the SEC or not, really. It was that we didn't expect the SEC to target Mizzou. Everyone thought that Mizzou seemed like a better fit for the Big 10 from Fans to national media. As soon as the SEC started looking at Mizzou and info began leaking out everyone I know was incredibly excited about the idea.
