...and Dartmouth beat Georgetown. Take no opponent for granted.

Diarra was never 100% healthy for us. A physically intact Traore should be an upgrade.
-
Does getting Nesbitt increase our chances with higher-level recruits - Tarris Reed, for example?
-
We are all expecting the team to be as good as advertised if and when they resume competition. I am running out of optimism on this issue.
While other teams are playing games, improving, and getting in increasingly good game shape our players are being told that they are not allowed to overexert themselves in practice and are significantly behind in number of games played so far this season. It may take a few games to get back into form - our ranking and our national profile might take a hit as a result.

When it comes to athletes vs basketball players, I will bet on the basketball players. TH will get plenty of minutes when he becomes a more complete basketball player.
-
The SLU women dominated play. A low stress game for the fans. Nice crowd, beautiful conditions.
Good luck in the dance!

In defense of Hankton, he was trying to deal with a FGCU big who can physically match up with HF. He was giving up 30 pounds to the guy.
-
This is less of a hit to the program than it might have been. Imagine the layers of speculation if CG had decided to de-commit last summer.
-
IMO, it speaks volumes that CG quit the team in mid-season. I cannot see how this benefits him career-wise. Has there been another player do this in the past?
I agree with other posts - let's recruit athletes with character who are fully committed to the program.

A couple of additional observations from the first two hours of the 2015-2016 campaign:
1. Neufeld - aggressive on offense. Looks to the hoop, gets to the hoop with either hand, something we have not seen in a 5 in God knows how long.
Will actually draw fouls. He may be our best offensive big already.2. Welmer - quicker and physically bigger than we may have been led to believe.
3. Gillman - more muscle, Looks more comfortable.
4. Yacoubou - best athlete on the floor, explosive.
5. Crawford - best shooter on the floor.
6. Hines/Bishop: in a learning mode. Give them time.
This year's offense looks more complicated, 'hot read' based, compared to last year.
Coaches and players very cordial.

Not quite basketball related: a certain Erwin Claggett got a hole-in-one at Wolf Hollow. Ninth hole, 3-wood, 215 yards. Proves he can still make 'em from beyond the arc.
-
...and a member of the once proud Pi Delta Theta fraternity. That would be the same Tom O'Toole who was the student manager for the final years of Billiken hockey.
-
Amen to that.
Would Kim Anderson be worth a look?
-
Even if the other recruit is tall, unless we recruit a really good JUCO he is going to be a freshman who will probably not be a significant upgrade compared to CR in the short term. Makes it all the more important for WR to return.Problem is, if Reed can't play next year and Remekun does in fact transfer, we don't have a whole lot of an inside presence- Manning, Loe, Conklin, with Evans and Ellis. Hopefully whoever the other recruit is also happens to be tall.
-
If Willie comes back, he better have a few more dozen pounds of pure muscle on his frame. Many players lose weight during the season. There is absolutely no excuse for him not to be alot more physical going forward into next year.If he's ready, look out A-10.
-
...For SLU to reconsider becoming a football school again. Basketball is clearly a secondary sport in the grand scheme of the current conference realignment drama.

Alright Board,
This is one of the most important decisions I have ever had to make and I need your help.
I am signing up for grad school classes at SLU and most of them are at night. With our potential schedule in mind. Do I leave open Tuesday nights or Wednesday nights in the fall semester so that I can make the most games...
Since you are smart enough to be a Bills fan, you are smart enough to skip a few classes when the need arises.
-
Wow...interesting choice. SLU over Yale. Good call.
I think Cornell proved this year that Ivy League athletics should probably be taken seriously.
-
Congrats to all..Too bad RM wasn't named coach of the year.
I can't think of another coach who did as much with a bunch of youngsters as RM.

Huge win!
I spent time listening to the MU game on the radio to day and no disrespect to Mike Kelly but Rammer does a 10 times better job calling a basketball game. I have listened to at least 3 full games this year with no tv or internet feed and each time was disappointed knowing I could not watch. After each game I have felt like I missed nothing.
Way to go Billikids, keep it rolling in AC!
Rammer and Earl are great. They are as much into the game and the program as any fans are. This comes through during their broadcasts.

What exactly does everyone on this board want from the St. Louis University basketball program? I thought that I was in the majority thought pattern here --- that I wanted a program that competed seven or eight out of every ten years, for a spot in the post season. I always considered that post season to be March Madness and saw the NIT as the typical failure as in Not In Tournament. Now, given the level of play and the limits of NCAA bids, with almost all open bids going to BCS-league teams, I am more willing to accept the NIT bid as more success than failure. I am, however, still some higher-than-thou United Nations wannabee and do not formally recognize the CBA or CBI or whatever they are as legit. I also believe that it takes time to build anything, longer for an item from scratch, which I have said is the plight of our never-was program. Others seem to espouse to the ten-second sound bite method of immediate gratification. Giving a guy a million dollars means success is due yesterday.
I get the feeling that there are folks out there, roy included, who have this black and white view of success. I don't know what that is but apparently roy includes the need to have a saint or benevolent father figure at the top of this program as well. Not roy's words, mine. Not only do I want to watch Selection Sunday with SLU being relevant, I want a clean program (nothing major in terms of overt violations recognizing a 500+ page rulebook), kids to be successful, nice graduation rates, few if any criminal instances, on-campus packed house, and so on.
I am guessing that most will agree that that too is what they want. Maybe the real question is how to get there? It appears to me that Majerus is a polarizing figure. I just don't think we have an option to go a much different route. I cna't complain with Rick's success --- while two year win totals are not huge, he has replaced what he was left with and is now stocking his own supplies. With that stock comes more accountability. So I intend to watch the progress now with less of a perchant to cut breaks.
Thoughts.

Congratulations to Theresa Lisch for being selected first team Academic All-American. Pretty impressive!

Not getting playing time should motivate high quality players, not discourage them.
