  1. Looks like Nesbitt's announcement will be made at 2 p.m. on Thursday. Michael Wilson liked this tweet, so maybe the staff is still feeling confident?
  2. I’m glad the staff still feels good about their chances because the recruiting analysts sure don’t. I’m not sure what they’ve heard, but pretty much all of them are picking Illinois now.
  3. Frank just talked about it briefly. He said that the coaching staff still feels confident about Nesbitt and things are looking good with Kern as well.
  4. @Coach314, are you hearing that Kern might commit next week?
  5. The Memphis writer from The Athletic wrote about Nesbitt's recruitment today and broke down each team's chances after interviewing the coach at St. Louis Christian Academy. Apparently Nesbitt's coach doesn't view SLU as the favorite... Saint Louis With any given talented player from Memphis, you’d be on the right side of history to assume that kid would end up at the U of M. The dynamics seem to be a bit different in Nesbitt’s case as it relates to the city of St. Louis. The Billikens haven’t exactly been there from Day 1, offering the 6-6 guard just last summer, according to Autenrieth. Each Crystal Ball prediction at 247Sports has Nesbitt ending up at Saint Louis; Autenrieth pushed back on that this week. “He’s not super concerned with (the hometown angle),” Autenrieth said. “I see that being broadcast all over, but that’s not really coming from our camp. He’s not really concerned about them being a favorite just because they’re the hometown school. Saint Louis has done a great job. They’ve done a pretty good job of resurrecting the program. Jordan’s been to some games there, and they’ve been building a relationship. But as far as (them) being a favorite, I wouldn’t say that.”
  6. The Bills are the featured college basketball team on The Athletic today! https://theathletic.com/2084981/2020/09/24/great-expectations-saint-louis-travis-ford-arent-backing-down-from-them/
  7. Glad I could help, @bauman! I try to listen as much as I can because he’s the only on air personality who ever talks about the Bills. Plus I love his recruiting info.
  8. I had no idea he had a countdown going. That would make sense. If I’m reading it right, it looks like it counts down to Sept. 30.
  9. I don’t think it’s a given that Kern is ready to commit, but the staff is hoping (or maybe hopeful) he will be doing so soon. At least that’s how I understood what Frank was saying.
  10. Could be, but it sounded like Frank asked about that recruit specifically. I'm not sure he would know much about Blackmon. Plus, SLU offered Kern a lot longer than Blackmon, so it's probably more likely they would be putting the pressure on him to make a decision. Blackmon recently named his final 6 and Kern has been very quiet about his recruitment and where things stand. Plus, Frank mentioned SLU hopes Kern will make a decision around Oct. 1, so they may be putting pressure on him to do so soon. I could be totally wrong though.
  11. This would make sense, @Pistol. Frank also said that the staff is getting close to the point with one recruit that they need him to either decide or they're going to need to move on. He didn't say who the recruit was, but confirmed it wasn't Nesbitt. That would make sense if it was Kern with him having a slower recruitment than some.
  12. Frank has had Rammer on for the first hour of his show today. They started talking about recruiting in the last segment. Frank said that Memphis is coming on strong for Nesbitt, but he thinks SLU is still in the lead. He also said that they are hoping to get an answer from Kern around Oct. 1 as well.
  13. From Eric Bossi of Rivals... For any readers who may not know, Jordan Nesbitt cut his list to Illinois, Memphis and hometown St. Louis last week. The tough wing from St. Louis (Mo.) Christian is a bully on both ends of the floor who has risen to No. 46 in the 2021 Rivals150. Currently, Nesbitt is set to announce his college decision on his birthday, Oct. 1. What we’ve always known with him is that he’s not likely to go far from home and his final three reflect that. From the sounds of it Illinois and Memphis have really turned things up over the past few weeks and they may be gaining some traction. My Futurecast is currently with St. Louis but I don’t have quite the same level of confidence in that being the right choice that I did when I entered my pick about a month and a half ago. I still favor SLU, but this one has tightened up.
  14. Anyone have any updates on this? I figured they would have named the new coach by now. I saw an interview with Corey Frazier last week where he said he would like to coach college ball someday, but I don’t know if he’s been considered for the opening.
  15. Memphis’ 247 reporter says they’re in a good spot here. Illinois fans think he will end up there. The national recruiting experts are still picking SLU for now. I don’t know if anyone knows how this will turn out. Hopefully his connection to home and the players on the roster who he is already friends with will win out.
  16. Here’s an article from Busting Brackets about Nesbitt naming his finalists. Nothing earth shattering in this, but still an interesting read. https://bustingbrackets.com/2020/09/19/ncaa-basketball-illinois-memphis-fighting-four-star-jordan-nesbitt/
  17. Nesbitt has received tweets from multiple players like Goodwin, Hargrove, Yuri and Okoro. Even Jordair and Hargrove’s mom tweeted at him. Hopefully he will appreciate this love from inside the program.
  18. Oh, gotcha. Thanks for the explanation.
  19. Can you please share? I haven’t seen it anywhere.
  20. Just saw that the SLU basketball twitter account started following Nesbitt today. Not really sure what that means, but I never see them do this before a player commits, except with Larry Jr.
  21. Thanks! Hopefully he’s right about him still being a SLU lean.
  22. Does anyone have access to this article? I’m am curious what the Illinois insider is hearing. https://247sports.com/college/illinois/Article/Illinois-Fighting-Illini-basketball-recruiting-wing-target-Jordan-Nesbitt-nearing-decision-151384900/
  23. Yuri already liked and retweeted it. All he needs is some love from his future floor general.
  24. Any guesses on the top 3? I would think SLU, Illinois and Memphis will be it.
  25. Frank was talking to Rammer on his show today and said that Chris May told him Perkins has put on 25 lbs of muscle this offseason.
