  1. this will be longer than you want, but answers about any question you might have on the testimonial privilege afforded spouses: http://www.law.harvard.edu/publications/ev...ses/trammel.htm by the way, i am wearing my BILLIKENS.COM shirt as i type this. but don't tell anyone.
  2. Hello gents. SLU72, the bet is on. UC-71 SLU-59 Say hi to Maylene and them fer me. You still got that 12 foot tall satellite dish on top of your 9 foot long trailer? How's the reception? Bonwich, we are looking forward to the wedding of the current naticat and future natiercat. And we look forward to hooking up with you when we hit town. The Mrs. has a well-faded sack she uses to conceal my features when we travel, so don't worry about that. I blend in nicely wherever there are earth tones. And I accept the terms of your wager as well. When you pay up on the scotch, we'll have to stay away from places with pastels and bright florals. I had hoped to finally make BRoy's acquaintance at this year's tourney but that won't work out, so October it will have to be. Since we're part of the family, dad, can we borrow the car when we get there?
  3. not a problem steve. if he/she/they/it hadn't started the "jaxbearcat" thread, i never would have wasted the time on it which i have. i meant what i said the last time, whether you remember it or not. and i meant it this time when i said none of this was meant as a warning to anyone about who and what he/she/they/it really are; rather it was to bring this back to where he/she/they/it are most often found. right now i'm thinkin UC 71 SLU 59. how bout you? by the way, i hope you will be in cincy for the tourney. i plan on wearing my "SLU" tee shirt to your first game, if it's not against UC.
  4. >I challenge gruehls to prove that I ever posted under any >other name. In fact, I didn't even post on this board for >quite some time. I think that Roy, David Nark, mookieman, >and others will verify that without any problems. I don't >know if I ever read a post by the torch or anybody else you >mentioned. What's this "me or someone 'working' with me" >garbage? > >I came on here to see if the same old cincy crew was still >around and get accused of being a nazi! > >I don't know what the hell you're talking about > >Note to gruehls: one of the quickest ways to tell who's >losing a debate on a mesage board is to see who starts >calling the other guy a nazi. > >It's pretty simple, provide some evidence or cram it! note to moron: here's a response to your challenge, not that you're capable of dealing with it: one of the quickest ways to prove that the idiot who is challenging you to something is indeed an idiot is to undermine their idiotic position, so---where's the accusation that you are a nazi? since the predicate for your challenge is "one of the quickest ways to tell who's losing a debate on a mesage board is to see who starts calling the other guy a nazi," why not show the world where i called you a nazi? in the absence of same, let's just pretend that your theory has some validity and that the first person to imagine he/she/it was called a nazi is, at best, a mind numbingly, moronic idiot who will very soon forget what pretext he/she/it is attempting to maintain with regard to identities on sports messageboards. pinhead.
  5. >I used a moniker similar to yours on a totally different >board some time ago. > >Let me set the record straight that the kevin footes who >posts on billikens.com is not the poster gruehls is talking >about. > >Gruehls' references to nazis are referring to me. We hashed >this out some time ago I don't know why he continually >brings it up. He was foolish the first time to accuse me of >being a racist or anti-semitic or whatever and now calling >someone else that is ridiculous whether he is confused or >not. > >Regardless this was settled some time ago and it was agreed >that this board was not the place to discuss these matters. >This a basketball board not a place for politics or >character asassinations. character assassination? you need to check the thread about jaxbearcat started by the kevinfootes alter ego over here. and note that other billiken posters found it necessary to ask you/him/her/it for some proof of what you/he/she/it was babbling on about. kinda interesting that old kevin footes here is fighting the exact same battle thetorch/savagehulk/noiz/kevin_footes/a dozen other names used by you/ fought on our board in the past against jax. and while you're giving it your best shot at "reading," here's what i posted below. let me know how many more times it needs to be posted before the, um, two of you, finally get it. kinda interesting too that "both" of you found the word "nazi" where it didn't appear: "the guy who posted as "kevin_footes" on our board was the same bigoted moron who gave us his views on zionism and Jews under the handles of "thetorch," "savagehulk," "noiz," and others. and he is you, or someone you are working with. in deference to slusignguy, and a lot of folks i admire and respect here, i took those issues off this board. i did so because steve indicated he didn't want this scene played out here and said "thanks for the warning, but we don't need it." i never took the opportunity to tell him my posts weren't a warning; they were the the cyber equivalent of a pooper scoop. i wanted to return here, the place you most often haunt, the crap you left on our board, so that those who came into contact with you most often could see you for what you are; a lying, gutless, bigoted coward. if jax banned you, good for him. " let me know which part you still are incapable of comprehending. and no kidding; fill everyone in on the "nomad king who found a couple hundred jewish rabbis hanging out where there were no jews" part of your theory. that's got to be good for a few yucks in advance of UC putting the wood to the billkannots again tomorrow night.
  6. >I wasn't the one with multiple identities. You're still >confusing me with all of the Art Long people on that board. > >I kind of had a feeling it wouldn't be hard to scare you up. > That was kind of the point of this thing. the guy who posted as "kevin_footes" on our board was the same bigoted moron who gave us his views on zionism and Jews under the handles of "thetorch," "savagehulk," "noiz," and others. and he is you, or someone you are working with. in deference to slusignguy, and a lot of folks i admire and respect here, i took those issues off this board. i did so because steve indicated he didn't want this scene played out here and said "thanks for the warning, but we don't need it." i never took the opportunity to tell him my posts weren't a warning; they were the the cyber equivalent of a pooper scoop. i wanted to return here, the place you most often haunt, the crap you left on our board, so that those who came into contact with you most often could see you for what you are; a lying, gutless, bigoted coward. if jax banned you, good for him.
  7. what happened to the torch and the hulk? on our board, they were all sharing an undivided interest with kevinfootesinmouthorotherorifice.
  8. slu72 my friend, this i can guarantee, seeings how you expressed an interest in finer scotches: all you want, on me, instead of skyline. deal?
  9. Hello bonwich; promise made and promise kept. The gruehls' both greatly enjoyed meeting you, and participating in a little holiday cheer. We sincerely hope the opportunity will present itself again soon. Perhaps the tourney? Taj and SLU72 and SignGuy et al; when the tourney gets closer, perhaps we can arrange a festive little soiree involving adult beverages. SluSign, I'll make sure that ample quantities of soft drinks are also available.
  10. >If Marquette falls off the face of the basketball earth, will >people then say that UC wasnt "tested" in that game? marquette won't, but if they do, yeah, lots of folks will view it as a negative reflection on UC. probably having something to do with the fact that UC has never graduated a player, and every player who has ever attended UC to play basketball has been convicted of major, violent, felonies and are either awaiting sentencing or are parole violators. and i think james green had his team well and truly cranked for this game, which got sold out from underneath him.
  11. i don't know if god works in mysterious ways, but basketballs must when the golden eagles of the south fly north to play the golden eagles of the north in a game in the north that should have required the golden eagles of the north to fly south and play the golden eagles of the south in the south. follow? to avoid confusion in the future, i think marquette should change their name. they've grown so bold and yack so loudly after finally winning a conference championship, they should change their name from the "Golden Eagles" to the "Emboldened Weasels." By the way, final score is southern Miss Golden Eagles - 83; Marquette Emboldened Weasels - 61.
  12. ...with 4:15 left in the game, USM leads Marquette 62 - 46. What do the Jesuits say about divine justice?
  13. Not bad bonwich. How about "Green Bay: Marquette's Favre-ite place to watch Mississippi Burning?"
  14. well, that's darned unfortunate. i was sorta hoping i'd get to meet you this year. i already owe taj a couple cold ones, so he's covered there. i know where to get some pretty decent scotch too, if he has a taste for that sort of thing.
  15. ...howdy Roy. In answer to your question about the shirt, I did get it (big thnx to Steve) and MAN HAVE I BEEN STYLIN! Of course, I can only wear it in the basement with the lights out, lest my Bearcat credentials come under attack. I promise to wear it to an SLU game in the tourney, assuming the 'Cats aren't forced to dispense with you fellas in the very same game. SLU72, I never got the Maurice's, but I got the other stuff you sent. Check the message and we'll ship you some cans of Skyline, pronto. How many Billikannots will be headin this way for the tourney?
  16. hello slu72. shoot me your address again and i'll send some down you're way. and i won't even mention that you never sent me that sauce i was supposed to get in exchange for the montgomery inn stuff. i find it odd that there's a debate on whether or not this MU/USM deal was right or wrong. from a cincy perspective, no coach was more loyal to CUSA than Huggins. no coach or AD was better positioned during the entire life of CUSA to cut independent deals that would benefit their own program and no other. they never did it, and no other coach or program should have been allowed to either.
  17. ...or restart it as the case may be, the storm over Marquette's extra home game has not yet abated. From today's Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: Marquette ready for unique outing Green Bay game has inspired backlash By TODD ROSIAK [email protected] Posted: Jan. 15, 2004 They will be playing just 1 1/2 hours north of their campus and have close to 10,000 of their fans cheering them on, but the Marquette Golden Eagles have scurried into the bunker over the backlash surrounding their matchup with Southern Mississippi tonight in Green Bay. "Do we have an 'Us against the world' mentality? Well, I would hope so," coach Tom Crean said Thursday morning, barely removed from his team's 85-73 loss to Cincinnati the night before. "I would hope we would, with all that's been said and written and spoken. We're going to have to go in there and respond to that. But more importantly, we're going to have to respond to a very good team, which I think Southern Miss is." The game, originally scheduled to be played Saturday afternoon in Hattiesburg, Miss., was moved to the Resch Center at the request of Southern Mississippi in September. Billing it as a chance for fans to see the alma mater of Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre, the school's athletic department in reality gave up one of its eight league home games in exchange for a guarantee from a promoter reported to be in the $100,000 range. For a cash-strapped program like Southern Mississippi's, the deal made financial sense. But it also gave Marquette what amounts to an extra home game and saved the team the hassle of having to make the trip to Hattiesburg. Located roughly 100 miles from any major city, teams have to fly into either Jackson, Miss., Mobile, Ala. or New Orleans and then bus in. And winning at Reed Green Coliseum, the 8,095-seat home of Southern Mississippi, has never been easy. Southern Mississippi is 80-34 (.701) at home since joining Conference USA and is 6-0 this season, including an upset of Memphis last weekend. "Our mission was revenue," said coach James Green, whose team is 0-6 on the road this year. "If I am to be part of the responsibility for revenue, then you've got to go with that." Most Conference USA coaches were incensed by the move. Saint Louis coach Brad Soderberg, who was quoted as saying he'd do whatever it took to make sure the game was moved back to Hattiesburg, went so far as to call an impromptu meeting with Commissioner Britton Banowsky during the league's media day in Chicago in late October to express his displeasure. Nevertheless, the arrangement stood. To prevent a similar situation from occurring again, Conference USA passed a regulation last month forbidding the movement of league games in the future. Still, Crean and his entire Marquette program continue to feel the heat. "It's a unique situation," Crean said. "Do I see everybody else's point? Yes, no question about it. But it wasn't our point to make. Southern Miss approached us about doing it. We'll never know if everybody else would have done the same thing." Had the game remained in Hattiesburg and been played on Saturday as the original schedule called for, 21st-ranked Marquette (11-3, 2-1 Conference USA) would have flown out Friday afternoon and returned to Milwaukee on Saturday evening. The team also would have had an extra day to recover from a physical game against Cincinnati and to prepare for Southern Mississippi. Instead, the Golden Eagles bused to Green Bay on Thursday afternoon. Having never played in the 10,500-seat Resch Center, they practiced in it once they arrived and will then have their normal pregame shootaround today. Valuable preparation time won't be able to be made up. Southern Mississippi, fresh off a tough loss at Saint Louis on Tuesday, also arrived in Green Bay Thursday. "It is a road game because we've never played there," Crean said. "That's why we're going to maximize our time and do a lot of shooting and a lot of walking through. They've been taking people out of what they do, so we've got to get ready in a hurry." 18. down boys, down. no one at bearcat central is contesting slu's supremacy in all things academic. the thread roy refers to on the uc board was prepared, over time, by uc's sports info director and lance mcalister, a local radio sports talk host. i don't when they started or whether the reference objected to was correct when they began, or is a typo, but it clearly is not correct now as slu's hoopsters hold the honor from last year. still, the overall info does challenge commonly held and expressed opinions about the uc basketball program sooooooo, here it is in its entirety:
  19. hello roy. i wouldn't think of ruining your image with naticat. and michael couldn't afford me. as for that bonwich fellow being a finalist on "Average Joe," i guess that's why he's always called the "mean" man.
  20. are you still modeling for those "bitter beer face" commercials?
  21. ...and so are the bearcats. whaley tore some cartilage in his knee a couple weeks ago; he underwent arthroscopic surgery two days ago and is expected to miss 2-4 weeks. the 'cats don't play again until clemson on 12/17. he sat out the valpo game so that might be the only game he misses. huggs is rotating 9-10 deep with double figure minutes on average. whaley will come around. chadd moore and nick williams are keeping things under control as far as the ball handling. unlike last year, these guys are deep and can score.
  22. ...posters on this thread make for what those military types refer to as a "target rich environment," what with sweetslu72, bohemianwich, and royalroy all lined up for a strafing run. don't lose sight of 2/25/04 in the "best team we'll face" consideration. heck, everyone is kicking the stuffing out of ohio state right now; san diego state beat 'em by 22. so anyway fellas, how's youse guys doin?
