  1. Odoru in portal...heading to Providence to join his former HC?
  2. They are playing well at the right time. Don't you think with their good run and fine season that Rodney Terry should get the permanent HC job. I'm sure Rick Barnes would endure him.
  3. Has to be the Zags as I want Mark Few and his team to cut the nets down!
  4. No, I've been a basketball and SLU fan pretty certain a whole lot longer than you have been alive. Be happy to test my knowledge of SLU Hoops History with you any day as I go all the way back to John Bennington days. Don't think you want to embarrass yourself dennis_w.
  5. I'd agree slu72 on Majerus...he had the gift and basketball knowledge to Coach up his players. Seems to me Jordair Jett was a football star in HS (not saying he did not play HS Hoops) but he had offers to play college football. Instead Rick got him to play at SLU and he was a heckuva player and only one of many who made us proud to be SLU Hoops fans.
  6. How many NCAA Tourney did SLU play in the last 5 years???
  7. Glad to see there is another Billiken fan who also did their homework on Ford's history as a HC as I did. While it appears he will get another year because the AD who hired him was not on board in firing him after another disappointing year...as a lifelong Bills fan I'll hope for the best but will continue to comment when the Ford Coached team does not meet up to my expectationsl. I don't fret one bit about people who don't agree with me. Trust me many are already on my Ignore list. There are enough fans on here who appear like me that want a lot more from SLU hoops than we have been given in the last 7 years. I'll also NEVER apologize for rooting for other teams like my wife's Alma Mater TN Vols or Gonzaga. Their past history in hoops makes them easier to be a fan.
  8. No glue just facts...hard for anyone to deny them either when they stare SLU fans right in the face year after year! No worry I'll still enjoy the Jesuit U's that do seem to have a way into the Tourney.
  9. Roy...you are missing the point. Kids like Kalkbrenner really shouldn't have any reason in looking away from staying at home and playing for SLU. SLU has given them the reasons... Our most recent appearance was Ford's one year and before that Majerus and Crews taking Majerus' recruits to the Tourney. We really give a kid like this one or any other right now little hope and dreams of playing for their St. Louis U team in the NCAA Tourney. Now I'm sorry you feel the need to make your last statement about me, especially since we happen to know each other and you know how passionate I am about Billiken hoops for my entire life. It's hard for me to believe that I want more from my Alma Mater than you do!
  10. Here's something for those on here who always tell the MBM's what a wonderful recruiter Ford is. Well if that is true and I have never really completely bought into it that notion...why didn't 7' Ryan Kalkbrenner a Catholic St. Louis player have a Billiken uniform on instead of a Creighton uniform on? Could it be he likes playing in the NCAA Tourney instead of sitting at home watching it as all SLU have fans done with the exception of 1 year under Ford? He looked like he'd have been a HUGE addition to the Bills lineup didn't he!
  11. Don't know how many of my posts you read but I have my Under Grad degree from SLU's Business School and when asked made a nice donation towards the remodel and it's now known as the Chaifetz Business School. No one on this website would be more over joyed if the Billikens could go on NCAA runs like Gonzaga but until it happens I'll be pulling for the Zags!
  12. So folks cannot have a rooting interest in the NCAA...Hmmmm! After I explained I got on the Zags bandwagon when I lived in Seattle from 96-2000. I don't tell anyone on here who to root for(especially with our MIA from the Tourney Again). The topic on here is the NCAA Tourney. Pretty impossible IMHO not to have a rooting interest especially when I have seen the Zags play a number of times. Sheesh a lot of people on this website have serious issues...please get some help!
  13. Anyone know what happened to Marki Strickland the 6'5" player from last year? Looked like a raw kid with a lot of athletic potential.
  14. Don't fret about me A_Bomb as I never see the ignorant people who post about my rooting for UT. Frankly, there are lots of posts about Coach Barnes that are negative today on Volition. He will be ending a HOF career in the next year or two. His teams play very good defense but do seem to come up short on the offensive end as they did last night. Majority of right thinking SLU fans would be very pleased with the success UT has had over Barnes years coaching the Vols. You're right as his players like playing for him.
  15. My favorite winning Jesuit U Gonzaga moving to the Elite 8. Feel bad for my wife Shari that the Vols were God awful in the 2nd Half.
  16. Willie...Pretty sure that's been one of Coach Izzy's plays in the past. Still remember the heart breaking loss the Bills had to his team when Coach Majerus had us in position to pull the upset.
  17. HoosierPal...Why would one waste their time debating with Chris May when that person thought he screwed up both of his HC decisions. He was waaaaay to lazy to hire a replacement for Rick Majerus. He promoted Jim Crews who was on auto-pilot the entire time he was on the bench at SLU. Yes, he did take Rick's players to the NCAA's twice, but Majerus left him that anyone with coaching experience could have done that. What Crews did not do was telling...he did ZERO to build on what Rick left him so then May cans him after 2 bad years, I was NEVER down with the Travis Ford hire. Why? I knew what he had done early in his career including the stint at UMASS. Then I looked closely what he did at his 8 years at OSU. In 8 years he made 5 NCAA Tourney's and one NIT. He never won the Big 12. He won a total of 1 NCAA games and that was his 1st year. Pretty certain because he was recruiting to a Big 12 his talent was much better than any place else he's coached. He did recruit Marcus Smart to OSU. So IMHO he had enough talent to have won 1 friggin NCAA game. Count me as someone who may recognize talent. Gee I don't see that as a huge quality. His problem is being able to coach up the talent. Still is at SLU. One thing to get talent a whole different one to coach them to a cohesive winning team. So IMHO and I know we'll not agree Chris May reached and failed SLU fans a 2nd time. While I know I won't change anyones mind on Ford thet like him. I thought I'd lay out why I think we are kicking the can down one more year in keeping him. If he fails next year I'm not wanting Chris May to make another dumb HC hire. IMHO he's 0 for 2 now!
  18. No when it's my point that he's in over his head...that's when right kind of thinking people know he should be sent packing!!!
  19. In a word NOPE! No one out there that foolish except for the equally inept AD May!
  20. IMHO it's fine to support and root for the team and still think the HC is in over his head and should GO!!!
  21. Or if he doesn't then the Big Boosters should fire both him and Ford both!!! Frankly, I don't trust him to make the next HC hire as I am totally uniderwhelmed with both the Crews and Ford hires!!!
  22. SLU_Nick hoping your last statement happens tonight...GBO!!!
  23. However, the Cards ownership is heavily invested in Ball Park Village so Stadium Attendance is only part of the Revenue that goes in the pockets of the Cards owners.
