cheeseman
When it was announced I thought it was odd after all this time for him to leave but anything can happen. I guess the AD at CU is not going to AR either. It will be interesting to hear what actually happened.
Basketbill
can't imagine another AD seriously considering him again......
TheBand
...is I think that FoxSports was the company that BROKE the story of Altman to Arkansas to begin with!

Eddie_Gaedel
Can you see an A10 coach turning down Arkansas?
Basketbill
sure, Miller, Ford probably would. Many interested coaches may look at Heath tenure and say hey he got them to the NCAA tourney 3 times and two in a row and then gets canned? Why would I hassle with that, why not say where I am and get a raise.
satrap
Dana Altman is a really good coach, but in the fraternity of coaches he has to be considered an odd bird. He pretty much up and quit the K-State job and has been in splendid semi-isolation for the last 13 years. There was a reason none of us thought about him for the AR job and the AR AD shoudn't have either - he is not a super ambitious coach. cheeseman
BBill - that is an excellent point. The same point I made some time ago that it would look mighty funny to a prospective head coach if SLU dumped Brad this year after 2 seasons of improved records and a 20 win season. Now, if he ends up with a bare cupboard because of poor recruiting, then the argument can be better made to these candidates next year. Everything ultimately comes down to perception. No coach with an upside is going to dash off for the first job that is offered to them. This not like the NFL were there are only 32 jobs available so even taking the HC job for losing franchise is considered an acceptable move for those trying to break in. With over 300 D1 programs, there will always be something better opening up.
