Billiken Rich
No longer. It's now KFNS 590am (if you are with in ten feet of their transmitter or the internet)
MICHAELSPAPPY
Sports franchises in the St. Louis area have no idea how much of a fan base was built for them by being on KMOX. I became a SLU fan solely and purely because of listening to Charlie Spoon on KMOX.
Billiken Rich
I know. The cardinals were listened to all over the country because of KMOX's signal. Unfortunately for us, it was KMOX that didn't care to have us any longer rather than us leaving. That said, 590 is at least promoting us a little. TheBand
KFNS is working to be the voice of the billikens. Virtually every sports update mentions "Home of the Billikens"... promos are airing at other times. KMOX did little to none to tout the Billikens and quite often shopped the on air product to other signals. We were a stepchild on KMOX and they didnt treat us as a meaningful client. I remember sports updates on that station that failed to mention a SLU score from the nite before. Admittedly, KMOX and the signal means some far flung alums can listen, but how often does that happen? Once, twice a year? How much benefit did we get from that broad signal compared to being on a station that is working to be the VOICE of the team. Probably not that much. Billiken Rich
I'm guessing you either have a laptop with broadband or living in the city of St. Louis. Otherwise that wide signal coverage is a bit more important....... I couldn't listen to 590 at my old home in Barnhart and CAN get it most nights in Fenton these days although it isn't a sure thing......
