SLU Soccer Week 9 Rankings

SLU is settling into a position to get a late at-large bid in the NCAA selection (unseeded and would play a regional game in first round depending on who else is in--think UIC or Wisconsin or Northwestern or Akron or winner of Mo Valley). A win at Louisville would boost them up in the RPI a good amount but I do not think they can reach a seed/bye (top 16) unless they win out or win out/tie Louisville. More ties or losses would put their at-large chances at serious risk as they are not in by much right now (weak SOS after Louisville but so many games on the road and neutral should keep their SOS decent).

NSCAA (coaches): 30th (same as last week, receiving only 11 votes)

Top Shelf (website): Unranked (not receiving vote for 3 weeks)

College Soccer News (website): SLU 23rd (1 place worse )

Soccer America (website): SLU 20th (1 place better)

Soccer Times (coaches): SLU 27th (last week, will update later in week)

Ken Massey (computer): SLU 35th (1 place better)

Unofficial RPI (computer): SLU has incorrect information and not ranked properly (hopefully fixed soon but NCAA does this every week now)

NCAA RPI (computer): SLU 34th (2 places better because of road factors)

It looks like David Andre played the full 95 minutes last night. Was Shackelford injured in the last game?

Otherwise, Graydon was back until he was booked with a red card. I did not watch, but it sounds like it was a wild match.

Shackleford got a red in the prior game and had to sit this one. Video of the Louisville game showed the rain and windy conditions to be miserable. Crazy game; their goalie got a red for picking up the ball outside the 18 in the first 4 minutes. Both teams took a while to figure out to play the ball low to the ground to keep control. SLU almost pulled this one off.
