Turgeon Retains Faust

As you all probably have seen, Nick Faust re-upped with UMd after talking with new coach Mark Turgeon. A semi-sign of relief was exhaled here in Twerpland for the re-up because of Nick's local roots but I felt like most believed it was a done deal anyway. Gibbs went to Texas but he was replaced with the Allen kid out of Virginia. There is absolutely no talk about the Bruenig sitaution whatsoever right now. There was very little on Faust as well. Don't know if that means anything in terms of Bruenig turning around and staying with Turgeon.

Of note, Twerpland is aglow over Turgeon's hiring of former Charlotte player and assistant coach Dalonte Hill. Hill was pirated away from Charlotte a few years ago by Huggy to KState, bring top-ranked HS foward Micahel Beasely with him, which IMO doomed Bobby Lutz at Charlotte.

Further proof that the power is brokered in thr AAU circuits and kids sign almost more with assistant coaches than haed coachs. This also affirms a lot of what courtside hit me up with in the other thread.

Additionally, former Xavier high recruit Jordan Lantham has decided to retunr to his Balmer roots, signing with ex-Williams aide Jimmy Patsos and Loyola (MD). He had also considered Morgan State, Towson and Delaware. What I find interesting here is his landing place, as well as the other schools he looked at. Nowhere near the class of even Xavier, so I am of the opinion he was highly OVERrated in his original recruiting values and scores. Lantham was given a score of "90" when he was listed as a Xavier recruit. A 90!! And now he's down some serious notches in terms of the schools he was considering.

Finally, Towson. The Midwest rub on this signing is that Mizzou and Haith lost out to Towson on Jervon Pressley. Or so the story says.

How does that happen? Pressley was scored as an "87" in the same ESPN guides and oiginally committed to Georgia State. Find the odd place in that equation: Georgia State + Towson + Mizzou. Talk about 180 degrees and flip-flops. Seems like that would be who WE are fighting and losing recruits against. Not big boy, glamour power Mizzou. Maybe Pressley got his Tigers mixed up and any a Tiger would have done. Viola -- Towson Tiger.

Of more interest to me in the above is that since this Skerry guy came on at Towson for Fat Pat Kennedy in April, he's signed eight new players. EIGHT! To a podunk school like Towson. In a podunk conference like the Colonial. Building a brand new building designed to hold upwards of 5,000 podunks --- on a GREAT night! I don't know what Towson draws but I am sure if it look it up, it will be in intimate numbers.

It's hard work being a Billiken fan.
