  1. In recent years, some MLS teams had already opted out of fielding their strongest lineups, using the competition to give playing time to lesser-used first-team players, MLS Next Pro players and, in some cases, academy players. The deeper into the tournament teams got, the more likely they were to prioritize the competition.

First-team MLS players will not be allowed to join up with MLS Next Pro teams in the latter stages of next year's competition, however, an MLS spokesperson told ESPN.

Dalger is just not a good player. For a senior to do some of the stuff he does is absurd.

he plays hard, there's effort there, and i get that's why a lot of fans like him. However he does stuff like.. fire the ball into the bottom of the rim on a critical end-game play against Dartmouth. Terrible turnovers, blown layups.. he just has no skills.

Dalger and van Bussel were arguing with each other during one of the last time outs.

This may come off as slightly more negative than I intend, but administratively I feel the AD has always made more than its fair share of mistakes and I think that is more about leadership and oversight at this point.  I think of odd examples like when the fire alarm went off during a game at Chaifetz and there did not seem to be a standard process on what to do.

I also think of things that are just mysteries like our game tonight originally being an 8 PM game (and not sure why).  It is wonderful it was rescheduled, but there was effort spent correcting that error (assuming 8 PM was an error in judgment or typing in start times or something other than a logical choice).  I always liked the expression that if you do not have time to do something right in the first place, when are you going to find time to do it again.

The game was scheduled to be played at 8:00 pm, as they were expecting to host a Men's Soccer A10 Conference Semi-Final game at 7:00 pm. The lost to UMass put an

end to that, so the basketball game was brought forward .

I agree with you. After 2 OT’s and no goals though, you probably need to do something else, keep adding OT periods and players will start dropping from exhaustion. Maybe play the first OT fully, and if someone is ahead when it’s over they win and no second OT, and if you need to go to another OT the golden goal applies in the 2nd? If it’s still no result after 2 OT’s, then I think you have to do something else. I would prefer the old NASL and MLS innovation, the shootout instead of PK’s.  For those who don’t know, instead of starting the ball at the penalty spot they started 35 yards from goal, the player had 5 seconds to get off the shot and could do anything in that timeframe, the goalkeeper started on the goal line and could move however they wanted to stop the shot. I think it made for a more natural soccer style of play than just kicking  a PK (save the PK’s for in game infractions like they are today). Chances of this happening are 0% though. Oh well.

The athletics department failed all the way around on Saturday. From marketing the event, to engaging with fans who paid $20 dollars + $8 in fees at the game. The only people that did their job was the Women's Soccer team(I'm not using this as a rebuttal to your argument, just a point of fact). There was nothing but failure after 7pm.

Can you expand on your assistant AD critique? I’m not saying you’re wrong, I’m just trying to understand what exactly she’s doing that’s drawn your ire.

St. Louis City SC put this game on. They were the ones that set the price of admission, it was not in the hands of SLU.

  6. Saint Louis University and Washington University in St. Louis initially sought to contest an Olympic football championship, but were unable to host it officially. Both teams ended up simply playing their regular seasons from teams around the country, making their status as an official demonstration sport dubious. St. Louis was declared the champion "by default." As Francis Field was the main stadium for the 1904 Summer Olympics, only those games would have been considered a demonstration for Olympic crowds. Only two games at Francis Field were played that did not involve Washington University: a match between Purdue and Missouri, and the first match between two Indian school teams (Haskell and Carlisle) who were considered powerhouses in college football at the time

Gillen has a chance to be a world class olympian runner. SLU's program just can't support what he needs to develop further. He may bring home a natty for us and enjoy it. It is either transfer or go pro in some sort of fashion.  He really needs his own personal coach and training staff. Our coach drives the bus to meets.

He is looking at going to Northern Arizona University, who currently hold the NCAA 5000m record.

Pro opportunities for females are more limited than a few years ago.

Russia and China paid women very well.  No American wants to play in Russia now, and China is not allowing Americans to play in its league.

Right now the Turkish league has the most American talent and is paying the highest.  Several other countries are trying to grab some of the talent that isn't going to Russia and paying better than before.  If Brooke could make the Turkish, French, German, or Spanish leagues she could easily make 6 figures for just 4-5 months of play.  A lower level league in a less desirable country like Poland or Czech Republic she could still make 60k+ for again not even half a year.

She could go and play in Turkey with Sevval Gul.

I heard something on radio last week thst a SLu runner had a national best time in something? Is there a schedule of events posted somewhere? The track at Compton Ave. is pretty easy to get to snd they have bleacher seats. It is not as scenic as Wash U track and field but with Top Golf building a block away I could see more people bring aware of track and other sports like baseball or softball. STL Cardinals maybe be an early fizzle if Marmol is starting the season running iff a second center fielder in two years.

The only home meet this season, was scheduled for 3/31. It was cancelled due to the weather.

-not really a soccer guy but I follow our teams, I see the success Becher is having, let's get way ahead of ourselves (or maybe not) and he becomes the best goal scorer in MLS, does that get him looked at by Europoean teams?

The European teams are looking at younger players, if he would make USMNT that would give him a better chance.
