  1. New episode out now. I make the bold (and likely debated) statement of no college hoops this year in one of the more downer episodes we’ve ever dropped. Summer of the corona continues. Also side tech note: I stopped recording audio separate of the video and now I just cut the audio from the finished video file, saves me time and effort. However I felt like on the listen back the audio quality might have dropped and maybe I just have too much time on my hands, but if anyone notices any issues feel free to reach out I may always end up switching back.
  2. Game re-watch with Justin Love is out on our YouTube page. Recorded about a week or so prior to his passing. Hope you guys enjoy it.
  3. A shirt/donation fund has been set up at Mascoutah high school. The shirt says Love Strong and is $14 to purchase for shipping, but donations can be accepted. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfv-Em_AsYER-e_otxEr9X_xlE19RZWRkzbQVei1k9Jh6aKJw/viewform
  4. Was supposed to actually be up last night but my computer refused to cooperate. Hopefully we can publish that soon. And indeed, it will be impossible to watch that with a dry eye.
  5. I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t look at the idea of making something of a doc/film just for Billikens basketball period, but the amount of time might really be over my head. Also, unfortunately the blood aspect of Tarantino films would not translate as well to this story..... sadly.
  6. Also, I don’t know about you but any Billikens content we make is a Tarantino film. Treat it with such respect! Lol
  7. Yeah I totally get it no offense taken. Knew it was choppy. Can you tell I am ready for basketball season?
  8. Almost forgot, as always don't forget to subscribe on YouTube, plus wherever you listen to our podcast, and make sure to turn your notifications on for YouTube as well, this will give you updates on new posts from us, because I will be putting out more and more clips that won't go up anywhere but here. Thanks as always for following along. I know there are a lot of places to subscribe and follow so we appreciate you guys taking the time to give us your attention.
  9. A whole lot of new coming at you, and there are some can't miss things: 1) A new regular episode of the show, featuring a new segment from @Pistol (I'm bored and I decided to have some fun, so if you hate it, it likely won't stick long, and if you love it then maybe I'll do more like it) 2) A new interview with Brian Daly in which he drops these great gems: - a story about Majerus pissing in a trash can, on the court, during practice - Majerus telling Kwamain he could guard Daly if he was laying down - plus a whole lot of very candid conversations about situation one and more during the Majerus era *This episode will not be available on YouTube immediately 3) A re-watch of the 2000 SLU/Cincinatti game with former Billiken Justin Love and @billikenfan05 The first two are up, the re-watch should be up shortly so long as my computer continues to be nice to me. Links, plus clips down below. Majerus clips from the Daly episode will be up shortly on our YouTube as well. 10. The Europe trip was awesome to hear about. It was also interesting to hear Harriman mentioned. Kind of shows how deep SLU’s roots were in over seas recruiting under previous SLU regimes and how much of a reputation we still have as guys like Stuen continue to look for new talent abroad.
  11. @DoctorB and for anyone else interested, the condensed edition of the podcast is up now. Stuen can talk so I tried to pick some essential clips to include, and even then it ran up to 20 minutes, but hopefully that’s more digestible than 2+ hours. I’ll make sure to note down the important stuff going forward so I have better clips, but let me know if this is the type of short hand stuff that would make consuming the show easier for people. Also, for everyone that listens I changed the intro for the show, added a video element now so that it translates well to the YouTube form of the podcast. That is also included in this YouTube video, can also be found on our Twitter I will try to attach that link here as well. Thanks as always for following along. YouTube:
  12. I’d also add on that episodes which don’t include an interview normally clock in around 45 minutes to an hour, which is a conscious decision on our part to keep things concise, so all we’ve been doing are abnormally long episodes in a row in place of not having basketball to talk about. Your normal listening work load is not much more than 45 minutes.
  13. I’m always happy for the responses from you guys. You are very much correct that our numbers would go up but it’s fluff too because it doesn’t mean our actual audience numbers are growing it just adds consistency to our numbers, especially when it comes to how we can actually use those numbers whether it’s sponsorship or otherwise. Also, our numbers would indicate that when I used to split up the interviews into multiple episodes, the numbers were always lower on part two because people don’t always make it back to the second part, so that’s another place we could lose on those numbers. But also at the end of the day it doesn’t really matter that much because again it’s not really growing the audience as much as it maybe just inflated our egos about how successful the show is. Lol. All of that being said as always we are happy to hear from people on the board or elsewhere about the show, curious what your thoughts are on changes, and happy to make changes so that this show best fits the audience it’s made for. Also feels like you are assuming a lot because the numbers on the last episodes, some of our longest episodes, have all been some of our best numbers, meaning not too many people are shying away based on length. I’m hopeful that posting clips of the full interviews in 5-10 minute segments that are some of the most enlightening parts of the show help people digest the content easier as well. At any rate as always I’m grateful for the feedback and continued listens from everyone.
  14. Not complaining about the feedback at all. It will be something that I will add to our content list, maybe a 10 minute clip with the important takeaways from the show. At least we have a better idea of what everyone is wanting.
  15. I will be cutting up more clips from the show of important quotes and putting those up on our YouTube channel. Make sure to subscribe so you don’t miss any important information!
  16. Because I don’t say my name at the beginning of every episode. Just giving you a hard time, I’m happy you liked it. As the season comes back and there are video highlight packages I can include and clip into the show, different media elements that can be added etc. First try and obviously as you said there were glitches we ran into. Curious did you throw this up on a tv, or just watch on your computer/mobile device?
  17. After a few weeks off we are back and trying something new. ‪Episode 76: An Interview With Ford Stuen‬ ‪Our first video episode as well, which is now up on YouTube‬ ‪Apple: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-house-that-rick-built/id1450098755#episodeGuid=https%3A%2F%2Fapi.spreaker.com%2Fepisode%2F30117500‬ ‪Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/episode/6vX5NxSVD3BcM2gV8awGfa?si=jjo8fSaxSyqpIaRGPnkHbQ‬ ‪Spreaker: https://www.spreaker.com/episode/30117500‬ ‪YouTube:
  18. New episode is out, different than normal kind of a three hour running conversation. Had the guys from 3 Bid League come on to talk A10 and SLU, then myself and John from West Pine Warriors talked conference and coaches.
  19. Just a friendly reminder that in a little over 5 hours our interview with Paul Biancardi drops. Make sure to check that out, Paul does Monday With Majerus on Twitter every Monday, has a lot of love for a Rick and a lot of great stories To tell about Rick (not as explicit as other interviews). If you haven’t in the mean time check out our other interviews, likely some more new stuff in the pipeline so as always stay tuned here, the way you guys have been listening to this podcast without any actual basketball is truly awesome and it’s very much appreciated. Hope you enjoy.
  20. Okay so then we were pretty close with calling it the Plaza. Not as bad.
  21. Paul Biancardi joins the podcast on Monday. We may be the worst podcasters ever because we couldn’t remember the name of the hotel Majerus lived at downtown, so I’ll apologize for that in advance. But it’s also a great interview, another one I think everyone will love.
  22. Forgot to publish last nights episode but it is up now, should show up on platforms shortly. Brought @Pistol on again to talk the Okoro signing and Madani leaving, along with breaking down some of our favorite moments in Billikens history. Don't forget to check out the Chris Sloan interview.
  23. I would counter this by saying I feel like watching a sporting event from the top of a parking garage on campus would be a blast, especially with downtown somewhere in the background depending on how it’s all laid out and again I have no idea how any of this would work or look. Also, anyone who has a problem with the views from their apartment/residence can bite it, we are talking about more important things here.
  24. @billikenfan05 talked about putting a lacrosse surface on top of the Olive/Compton garage, or we at least dreamed about what that would look like on the podcast a while back. I feel like the land locked nature of the sports complex will definitely make expansion for baseball brutal, if not impossible, but if there's a will there's a way. No idea what the actual dimensions would have to look like but, as has been mentioned already, without money this is a totally moot point.
