Some guy named Dick Pullin just won a 7 night vacation.
I have a hunch this one came from the student section haha

Hankton has a real nice stroke.

Thank God for Javon Bess

Nobody leaves the gym next practice until everyone makes 250 FTs.
-
Looks like the refs from Houston have made their way to St. Louis
-
Man... we're getting open looks, just nothing dropping.
-
I've never understood how you can practice basketball nearly every day and be a bad FT shooter. And how is nearly everyone on our team bad at FTs? Bess seems to be the only one who's worked at improving that area of his game.

That ref sucks French was fouled
I have a theory that guys that are so much bigger and stronger than an opponent get less fouls called because the contact has less effect on their movement and their path to the basket. French seems to fall into that theoretical category.

Remember how we scored 20 in a game once? How is that possible?
We really need to schedule someone like Chicago St or Little Sisters of the Poor and just make it our goal to expend all our energy on defense and change that "record"

What're those black and gold shirts being worn toward the front of the student section?
-
Yuck.. this is reminiscent of the SIU game

2-3 zones really seem to baffle us.

French 0-4 from the line.
He should honestly consider going Rick Barry style

Luke Kasubke and Matteus Case from Chaminade are there, then another guy, then an older couple, and then a tall, thin guy on the seat near the aisle.
Wish the crowd were better for this one. Although, when I attended, the crowd wouldn't even participate in "Jayson Tatum" chants and I'd argue 3/4 of the student section had no clue who he was. Sad

Hankton’s shots were just-misses.
His stroke looks good and he's shooting without hesitation. I guess that's something to hang your hat on given how we've shot threes this year.

I was told to sit down by the lady behind me before lineups were even announced.
Tell her to stand up.

Feel oddly good about the Gordon chapter of SLU history finally being over.
I feel like Coach Ford knew he was taking a calculated risk when CG signed on. It didn't work out, but I don't fault him for trying. The signing certainly energized this fan base based off the potential. If CG was a poor teammate, it's actually way better this happened now, instead of trying to force him into the picture and having the internal drama prolonged.
Cut bait, develop the young guys, and sign a replacement who wants to fit in with #TeamBlue

I actually think SLU can benefit with Gordon leaving. Chemistry is important, plus I think an early favorable schedule in the A-10 could work in SLU's favor. They can build confidence and emphasize more spacing. Of course, that means Isabell will be a key and will definitely have to step up his game. Also, Thatch looks like one who could grow into a good one.
Agreed. I think we all should take a step back and breathe. It definitely sucks losing the potential of CG's future and what could've been. However, I think team chemistry is way more important than a lot of people realize.
CG leaving can actually benefit both parties. If the hearsay about altercations with teammates and missed practices are true, then CG departure will not be a detriment to this team. If true, it seems like irreparable damage was done and he was not entirely interested in changing. Anyone who's been a part of a team probably realizes that removing a problematic member of the team usually creates a much more productive and focused environment, regardless of the importance of the detractor's role. The chemistry has been notably out of sorts compared to last year, and I would not be surprised if the team uses this moment as a rallying point and we see the same energy we saw toward the end of last season coming into conference play. This team does have great leaders with Ford, Bess, and Goodwin after all.
As for CG, it appears the rumors have it that there are some bad influences in his ear in STL. He's young and impressionable and I believe it's possible that getting out of this city and into an environment where it's sink or swim and these influences are not readily available may be character-building for him. Wishing him nothing but the best.
Next man up. Let's Go Bills!!

To win... Defend and Rebound
-
Refs doing all they can to keep HOU in this one. This looks more like the effort we saw out of last year's team. Keep fightin' Bills!
-
Jarreau throws an elbow, runs into a straight up Gordon, and we're called for the foul. Story of this game.
-
With the HOU defense stretching so far out, we really ought to be able to leverage our athleticism to get to the rack. Problem is, our offense has just terrible spacing and minimal ball movement.
-
Well now we know why Houston has the 22 straight home wins. F'ing make a Brinks truck delivery to the officials locker room every game.
-
Goodwin gotta use that in and out move more. Was effective for him last year if I remember correct. He struggles when he over dribbles and tries to get too fancy instead of using his natural strength and quick first step to get to the rack

The work Bess has done on his shooting really is commendable.
