  1. If you haven't done so, read the linked article "Remembering Coach" on the home page of this forum. It contains Coach Crews eulogy for Coach Majerus. I had not read this before. Wonderfully done......
  2. At times the best work on the boards is done by the player who blocks out his opponent and allows someone else to get the ball. This act doesn't appear in the stats but is a "rebound allowed".
  3. Remember our sophomores had a great surrounding cast last year. All they needed to do was provide fill in roles. Now they are supposed to be the experienced group, leading a group of six freshmen into battle. This surrounding cast is no where near as accomplished as last year's. Give them time. They are feeling their way throw this also.
  4. The Coaching staff had reportedly labeled Roby as the "most ready" among the freshman. His stat line didn't say much, so I spent a lot of time watching him for those details that the staff may have been talking about. Never saw him as being more advanced than the other freshmen on movement without the ball, defensive help, slipping screens, etc. But I don't coach D1 ball, me not seeing a difference was no big deal. But going from starting to no PT; that was surprising.
  5. Outrebounded 21-9 in the first half. Bradley has as many offensive rebounds as we have total rebounds. Not acceptable. Rebounding is blocking out your opponent and showing effort.
  6. Gillmann if you want to stay on the floor, defend.
  7. Jolly if you want to stay on the floor defend.
  8. Two nice defensive stands by Manning on Ware.
  9. Does Gillmann understand he is supposed to guard Ware and not simply watch?
  10. 10) None of our post players, Gillmann, Jolly, or Manning, have risen above the other two. Collectively they are at 39.8 minutes per game, 8.1 points per game, and 6.1 rebounds per game. You would like to see one of them step up, but if it is going to be post by committee, so be it. Getting 8 points and 6 boards out of the five spot isn't bad; it isn't great, but I can live with it. To me Manning's slight advantage is that he protects the rim better than the other two.
  11. Talking about disappearing. Iona had Richie Guerin and Jeff Rutland a several decades ago, but that is about it. The MAAC is a nice little conference. I hope Cam enjoys the winters.
  12. The attendance of 4,507 was the second smallest regular season crowd at Chaifetz. UMass drew only 4,086 in 2010-11. I don't remember the reason for the small attendance that day. (The CBI tourney in 2009-2010 had two crowds smaller than last night.)
  13. Manning took out two guys on the screen for McBroom's late three. Nice.....
  14. My recollection was that Stewart got caught stealing ash trays at the team's year-end banquet. I could be wrong as it has been a few decades.
  15. We started predominately freshmen in 91-92 and ended up 5-23. That was an excellent freshman class with Highmark, Claggett, Winfield, Skinner, Grant, Grawer, & Bickel. Not sure anyone wants to go through that again.
  16. Roby looks a lot like Larry Hughes. Close up on the half time interview-i first thought it was the Legend.
  17. I like how we are attacking the bucket. Not sinking many but being aggressive and getting fouled.
  18. Rams win by 4 over the Huskers, 66-62 F/OT. Matthews with 26.
  19. Wow, Georgetown only fills up about half of the Verizon. Didn't know there was that much apathy. http://www.hoyabasketball.com/records/attendance.htm
  20. No. They do play in the Crossroads Classic at Banker's Life, but that is with IU, Purdue and Notre Dame. Totally a separate tourney that has nothing to do with the Big East.
