  1. Also, I am new to following college basketball recruiting. When can we expect to start hearing about recruits from the class of 2015?
  2. Don't know if you guys have seen the tweet, but Ben Weixlmann said Milik Yarbrough said his visit to SLU was "Amazing"
  3. theres only one scholarship left for slu correct?
  4. what is a solid recruiting website? If ESPN isn't as dependable as I thought, is there a website that will give me a better idea of how good recruits actually are?
  5. Any chance any will end up at SLU?
  6. I did not know that! thanks for clearing that up! So the general consensus around SLU basketball is that Crews is the man for the job?
  7. I'm really looking forward to doing that! Don't get me wrong, I am for Crews proving me wrong, and I am all for seeing these players develop over their time at SLU. I concede that I am a fairly new fan (wouldn't consider myself a bandwagon fan) , and I am somewhat spoiled compared to older fans who have seen all of the ups and downs (mostly downs) of SLU basketball history. I also understand that the 2014 senior class faced a similar situation where they were thrust into a young team, but I have been doing some research on perceptions of these 5 players compared to thee incoming Freshmen and rising Sophomores and there are clear differences. I totally get that recruit rankings and ratings are suspect and questionable, and do not always determine how a player will perform, but i do think there is some validity in them. Here is what I found: Espn gave the following grades to the graduating seniors when they were recruits (on a scale of 100) Rob Loe 91 Jordair Jett 90 Mike McCall 88 Dwayne Evans 80 This are the grades ESPN gave to the incoming Freshman class: Brett Jolly 75 Davell Roby 74 Austin Gillman 71 Miles Reynolds 69 Marcus Bartley 69 Elliot Welmer (no grade) Now again, I accept that these recruit grades are absolutely suspect, but there a very clear difference between the type of players SLU was attracting then, and the types of players SLU has attracted the past 2 years under Crews.
  8. New to the forum, but I've been following SLU basketball carefully for the past two seasons. I have to say, I am not confident that Crews is the man for the coaching job at SLU.Yes, the Billikens had two great seasons, but a lot of that was just based off of the foundation that Majerus left (players, playing style, attitude, etc.). Crews did a great job helping the team navigate through the difficult circumstances of his first year, and the rapid change, but it seems that the team dwindled as Crews hand on the team began to show. SLU didn't show up when it mattered in the tournament in 2013, and in late in the season in 2014. You can't always blame the coach for the team not showing up, but he doesn't have a proven track record of being able to get a team of mid-level talent to perform at higher levels (he didn't do much at Evansville, or Army). I really like SLU's approach of signing under recruited players and developing them over 4 years, but for that you need a coach that has a proven track record of getting the best out of his players. Honestly, the rising sophomores, and incoming freshman don't look so great, and I am worried about SLU's future. I know we next season is expected to be a restructuring year, and I understand that one has to be patient, but I don't think Crews has put SLU in a good position for years after that. I look at a comparable program like VCU who has signed 3 ESPN top 100 recruits and I am worried that SLU is just not competing. I hope I am proven wrong, but I don't think he is the man for the job.
